Books: I have been diving into some classics lately. Stuff I didn’t read in high school like 1984, Brave New World, and Fahrenheit 451. I’m also a huge HP fan. I have been listening to the audiobooks and if you haven’t done that, do it! They are amazing!
Shows: I’m currently watching The Handmaids tale. I used to like Greys anatomy but I had to stop during their COVID season. It just got too ridiculous. squid Games was a good show. I resisted the hype for a long time and then I got sucked in super hard.
Books: man, I miss reading for fun! I still love The Witch of Blackbird Pond, which I read in 5th grade and have read every year since, and I still like reading apologetics like CS Lewis.
Movies: When Harry Met Sally is my classic, but we pretty much exclusively watch Disney movies these days. The live action Aladdin is pretty spectacular though.
TV shows: Modern Family is my go-to for giggles, West Wing for genuinely good TV, and Spring/Holiday Baking Championship for background noise. I did binge all three seasons of Jamestown when I had COVID in August and holy smokes that show was a fascinating mess.
Video games: .........crickets. I have a Zumba "game" for my husband's old Wii that I do sometimes for a workout?
Books - I enjoy low fantasy books so things like The Night Circus, Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, etc
Movies - dirty dancing is probably my all time favorite/nostalgic movie but I’ve enjoyed most of the marvel CMU.
TV shows - the good place and parks and rec are my all time faves along with the original avatar the last airbender series.
Video games - I’m a Nintendo kid so Mario, donkey Kong country, etc. most recently though I was obsessed with animal crossing during the pandemic and I still play occasionally.
Books: A Song of Ice and Fire (Game of Thrones series), the Outlander series, most YA dystopian type books, HP books. I love to read!
Movies: love classic Disney, MCU, and I’ll agree with @ceclarlinetlo about Dirty Dancing!
TV: Outlander, Brooklyn 99, Schitts Creek, Parks & Rec, Handmaid’s Tale
Video Games: also a big Nintendo fan. Animal Crossing, Mario Kart, most Mario games, Luigi’s Mansion, Ocarina of Time (Zelda) for the N64, and Dr. Mario for the NES.
@gingermama29 I love ASOIAF but GRRM and Patrick Rothfus are on my shit list of authors for how long they are taking. They need to be in author's jail LOL.
Books: besides ASOIAF, the King Killer Chronicals (though who knows when the last installment will be out..), HP universe but JKR can just leave it alone at this point. She's doing more harm than good. I loved the A Court of Thorns and Roses series. I'm currently stuck on what to read next. I've tried to get into some other fantasy/romance books but they are all falling short TBH.
Movies: LOTR series, HP, Practical Magic,
TV Shows: IDK I usually watch trashy tv to help me concentrate during the work day LOL. SVU, Love Island, Love is Blind, etc. But like substatial series, I love Firefly Lane, Marvelous Mrs. Masiel, Gilmore Girls
Video Games: Minecraft, Red Dead Redemption, Sims franchise, Stellaris, but Stardew valley has been my default recently.
@stashattack agreed wholeheartedly about GRRM! It’s been 12 years!! Have you read the Outlander series? It is awesome and so well written! There are 9 books out right now, the newest having coming out last year.
@stashattack it’s also a TV series and honestly, it’s one of the best adaptations of book to TV that I’ve seen. Plus the lead guy is super hot and has an amazing Scottish accent!
Books: Harry Potter, hunger games, brave new world, 1984, and also the twilight series is a guilty favorite too lol. I miss finding new books to read but all I can do is re-read favorites because I know I’ll be interrupted and that’s a big pet peeve when I’m reading a new book.
Movies: 10 things I hate about you, the proposal, anything Will Ferrell, Harry Potter, hunger games
TV shows: the chosen, gossip girl(the OG one from the early 2000’s), Yellowstone, GoT, stranger things, supernatural
Video Games: CoD, Mario kart on the Super Nintendo, DDR on the PS2. Also really like guitar hero😂
pretty much I chose what I liked by the time I was 15-20 and that’s what I’ve stuck with😂
@justyouraveragemama I'm totally like that too -- what did I like when I graduated high school? Oh, exactly the same things 20 years later.
@stashattack I used to watch Gilmore Girls every basketball season, start to "finish" (I hate the back half of season 7 so I'd skip from Lorelai getting married to the last couple episodes). I would say that when my husband was gone, I'd just hang out with my Stars Hollow crew, and I had it timed up pretty well to the basketball season -- "I demand to go first" always made me cry right at the beginning of the actual game schedule, the pinnacle of season 4 was the rough stretch of early conference play, and the season 7 fast forward was like "please let us just be done". The older I get, though, the more I hate Rory and Lorelai, and love Emily (and Paris).
@emeraldcity603 so glad you mention 1984 I never read it in high school either and keep meaning to pick it up and just haven’t yet definitely on my to read list! @gingermama29didnt even think of ASOIAF I listened to them on audiobooks so didn’t even think of it in the book category but man were they good @stashattack I’m with you and gingermama29 why on earth do we not have the next book I almost feel like the tv series derailed him and he has a complex about publishing it since the series went beyond the books and didn’t get the greatest reception @justyouraveragemama I think you hit the nail on the head what I got into in high school definitely stuck with me and shaped what I like now
@ki1244 I appreciate Emily more. But I'll never truly like her mostly cuz my mom "jokes" about being the Emily to my lorilie and thinks that's funny to have our relationship that disfunctional.
@AlexisJoy92 he should really just hire a ghost writer at this point and be done. I'm just so ticked. But I agreed. I think the last season messed with his head and now he's stuck.
@justyouraveragemama yes I’m so with you on the high school tv show problem haha. I basically rotate through Dawson’ creek (I started watching reruns of it when I was in middle school haha), the oc, gossip girl, Friday night lights. They’re my comfort shows. Aside from those I like Ted lasso, trying, white lotus, severance as my “quality” tv. And then I love love is blind and the great British bake off for more fun.
Books, I read most any kind of fiction. I have read everything by Ann Patchet and I love her. I read on my kindle attached to my library card and to find new books, I look at past years’ lists for the man booker prize, Pulitzer, and other awards and see what was nominated. I read every night before bed. The problem with my system is I never know the title of what I’m reading bc it’s on kindle and I don’t keep a record of what I read so I can’t reference back. Maybe that’s a good 2023 goal
movies, honestly I’m too sleepy to watch them. If it’s later than 7, I can’t watch a movie. It’s been this way for years. But I like documentaries, and I like feel good things like Harry Potter and all the cute rom coms from the early 2000s
@stashattack thank you for reminding me that we are still waiting on Patrick Rothfuss 🥲.
Books: I’ve been really into contemporary rom coms lately, Emily Henry’s are consistently enjoyable (except PWMOV). Historical romance, A Lady for a Duke was swoony. I also like fantasy, YA included. Some of my 5 star reads this year were the Dance of Thieves duology and Fable duology. It’s kind of hard to pick a favourite of all time Movies: Coraline is a comfort watch for me. And HP 1 is my favourite Christmas movie. UO, I’m over superhero movies. I could never watch another MCU movie and be totally happy.TV shows: I’m also enjoying Wednesday @AlexisJoy92, it’s so good! Schitt’s Creek, the Good Place and the Witcher are faves—I’m pretty bummed about Henry Cavill leaving the series though, he’s a totally dreamboat and excellent casting.Video games: vanilla WoW, Skyrim, Dragon Age: inquisition have all consumed my life at some point (not since having kids though). MH and I have been playing Beat Saber lately and it is hilarious.
@pickle-chips I'm sorry 😅 but also hard agree with the MCU movies. I'm over them. The shows are ok. But like definitely over the super hero movies. Bahhh. It's too much to keep track of.
Only thing I have to say about the MCU is that I would watch the dude who plays Falcon read the phone book. HELLO SIR. Other than that I couldn't tell you much about any of the movies/shows/whatever. Wait, I take that back, the Guardians Christmas special was hilarious.
Re: GTKY 12/27
Movies: fight club if you haven’t seen it watch it and than watch it again because once isn’t enough
TV shows: not sure now that I think about it but I’m currently watch Wednesday and it’s phenomenal
Video Games: The last of Us Part 1
Movies: When Harry Met Sally is my classic, but we pretty much exclusively watch Disney movies these days. The live action Aladdin is pretty spectacular though.
TV shows: Modern Family is my go-to for giggles, West Wing for genuinely good TV, and Spring/Holiday Baking Championship for background noise. I did binge all three seasons of Jamestown when I had COVID in August and holy smokes that show was a fascinating mess.
