How are you feeling?: Remember how I wrote how thankful I was for not being sick for months in the Thankful Thursday thread last week? Totally jinxed myself. Both me and kiddo are nursing a cold. It’s mild at least, but still annoying!
Rants/Raves: We went to visit the ILs over the weekend, they leave for San Diego this week and will be gone until late March. They stay there every winter. We’re going to visit them in SD in January, but it occurred to me that the next time we visit them at their house, we’ll have a little baby! Suddenly things feel very real and very close.

Rants/Raves: I got to tell my godson (age 5) that I'm pregnant over the weekend, and it was so fun to see what his reaction was like. 💛
GTKY: What is your go-to cozy winter meal? Pretty much anything in the crockpot or instant pot. We have a crockpot casserole that's on rotation pretty often in the winter that is a chicken, stuffing, and green bean casserole that pretty much tastes like thanksgiving. Hits the spot on a cold winter evening.
Upcoming Appointments: I had my glucose test today which I passed! So nothing again until Jan 6 for my next monthly, after which I start bi-weekly visits. I also asked to get my ferritin tested, and I'm barely on the other side of anemic category, so I almost feel like it's inevitable and I'm already taking a low dose of iron biglycinate. I'm waiting to see if my doctor wants me to take some more serious supplements. Otherwise, I might increase my current dose a bit, and see if it makes a difference.
How are you feeling?: I'm feeling pretty great overall, though maybe not today because baby decided to have an in-utero all night rager all night long. Like WTF, baby? Anyways, I was up peeing, and tossing and turning, every hour or so. At least I didn't oversleep my alarm for my glucose test.
Rants/Raves: Rave -- I'm not sure if I mentioned this here at all, but I've decided to write about our infertility journey because I'm a nerd and I've basically tried everything under the sun to get pregnant (short of actually doing an embryo transfer... we got as far as a mock transfer, and then I suddenly started getting pregnant on my own because of all the other stuff I was doing). I hired a friend of mine to 'coach me' to help keep me motivated / making progress / etc. Anyways, I just finalized a survey which I've started sending out and in today's session, we drafted a book outline. I am feeling SUPER PUMPED about the project. If you know of anyone who's struggling to conceive, I'd love to share the survey link with you!
Rant -- one of the earlier fertility clinics we worked with (which we actually fired because they made egregious errors on both ultrasound and sperm analysis reports in 2 different cycles) started sending us bills for $600 for sperm storage about 2 months ago. We fired them in early Feb 2021. I finally emailed them a few weeks back saying "AFAIK, we have nothing stored with you, and how come these bills just started appearing now? And why aren't they posted on the portal, especially since on the statement is says 'go to the portal to pay your bill', which is extra suspect." They emailed a week later saying "we've sent your inquiry to our billing dept; they will be in touch." And then today, H gets a portal message saying "please disregard the bill since we've been informed there is no sperm stored at the clinic." H replied to them saying "if we find any more billing errors, we will report you to the FTC for fraud."
GTKY: What is your go-to cozy winter meal? Soups, soups and more soups. Creamy ones (I don't like chunky soups). Butternut squash is a fav, and I recently picked up ingredients to make cream of tomato soup.

@acleverusername I used a photo that is on his fridge as reference. It's a photo of my best friend when she was very pregnant with my godson. He knows it was him in her belly in that photo. I asked him if he remembers that photo and he said he did and that he was in his mommy's belly. I said "well, I have a baby in my belly just like mommy did in that picture" and his jaw dropped and he said "where?!?". I showed him my belly and he rubbed it and had some questions like how long until she came out and such. It was adorable. Also, love the book idea! I can't wait to hear more. And eff that clinic for being the worst AND for continuing to be a thorn in your side. 🙄

GTKY: What is your go-to cozy winter meal? Nothing this year haha, most foods are still pretty unappetizing to me. Jealous of all of your yummy sounding foods, hoping to once again like food more like a normal person and not just eat for the need to.

How are you feeling?: OK, just achy when I first start moving after sitting a bit, lots of heartburn, and pretty tired lately and I have 0 patience for my 4 year old which I feel awful about.
Rant: Said 4 year old is REALLY pushing my buttons and driving me nuts. While making cookies (something supposed to be fun), she refused to listen to anything I said and ended up being "bored" about 2 minutes in. When we drive around to look at lights tonight, she kept complaint and asking when we would be going home. These are supposed to be fun activities, child! I'm trying to be a fun mom and make Christmas memories with you!!!!!
Rave: After spending all day with both kids and wanting to pull my hair out, hubby took over for 2 hours so I could decompress and I ABSOLUTELY NEEDED IT!

GTKY: What is your go-to cozy winter meal? I love a good crockpot soup! We have a zuppa recipe that we love.
Upcoming Appointments: just had a heartbeat check yesterday! Next up… glucose test in a few weeks.
How are you feeling?: overall pretty good. Two nights ago baby was verrrry playful and moving all around. She must have gotten into a weird position because I woke up yesterday morning with the WORST pelvic pressure. It wasn’t too bad in the morning but by the end of the day it was so uncomfortable. I brought it up during my dr appt and turns out baby was really low still when they checked her heartbeat. So I did a few pelvic exercises and then pulled out my giant pregnancy pillow for extra support last night. Feeling a bit better today. I told my husband it literally felt like I slept on my peloton bike seat yesterday 😂💀 and that’s how sore I felt.
Rants/Raves: everyone is getting sick around us (with the ‘vid) so we won’t be seeing family on Christmas. It’s sucks but not trying to get sick!

@scaredunprepared I feel ya on lacking patience for the 4 year old… and I thought 4 was supposed to be “easier” than 3! We are having some bedtime battles and are probably close to dropping nap over here, which may be leading to my thin patience.
Also anyone else a little nervous to do the GD testing so soon after the holidays? I have an appt the first week of Jan but she didn't mention the GD test so maybe mine is not til later that month...either way maybe I should slow my roll with all the cookies I'm inhaling
@nsk489 yesss I'm getting nervous about the glucose test, I have it the first week of January. I'm not big into sweets like cookies and stuff but right now pop is something I've definitely been drinking more often so I'm thinking I need to slow my roll a bit...

How are you feeling?: pretty good but definitely getting to a point where I really can't eat much without feeling painful bloating. And heartburn..
Rants/Raves: rant: we're hunkering down for our big snow storm thays supposed to hit tomorrow. Not a crazy amount of snow but extremely cold temperatures and high winds are supposed to creat blizzard like conditions. Mostly I'm worried about power outages because we live in an older neighborhood where all our powerlines are in the air. The last time I was pregnant, we had a huge storm in the summer with crazy winds and we were out of power for 5 full days... so I'm doing a lot of praying! And also hoping it will all pass in time for us to see family for Christmas
GTKY: What is your go-to cozy winter meal? OK this is a hard one because I'm a foodie... we do soup month every year in January ( always from scratch, even the broth!). I also love tamales which are perfect this time of year. We are kicking off the soups early and making chicken giardiniera soup tomorrow ( basically like chicken noodle soup but in place of regular noodles we use orzo and we add giardiniera and chopped Claussen pickles - sounds weird, I know but it's so freaking good haha). Also obsessed with hot sandwiches like toasty subs or paninis!
Also have to agree with everyone above talking about chicken and dumplings! It's a family staple for me; my mom taught me how to make them from scratch and she was taught by her mom who learned from her mom lol. It's a recipe that goes way back and I can't wait to teach it to my own daughters ❤
@maggied26 the cold and potential power outages has me nervous as well! It’s not going to be nearly as cold where I am as some places, but the power seems to go out over nothing in my county. Earlier this month thousands were without power because of snow weighing down and breaking tree branches, tearing down power lines! The PNW isn’t equipped for snow, but it’s becoming normal each winter now so maybe they need to do something…
Here’s hoping the power stays on for everyone!

@nsk489 I don’t think I can calm down on the cookies. I’ve made my favorite ginger snap cookies twice this month already. We had a cookie party at work today and I just went back and ate more and more of my own cookies
@maggied26 were supposed to get some really cold weather too. A 70 degree drop from today to tomorrow. I’m really grateful that my district canceled school so our winter break starts early but nervous about how cold it’s going to get.
@nsk489@begb9@maggied26 As someone who had GD in her last pregnancy, despite no risk factors, let me assure you that your diet does not cause GD. You don't want to have a high carb breakfast the day of your test, but otherwise, it's not about how much sugar you eat on a daily basis. GD is a placenta issue: when a hormone made by the placenta prevents the body from using insulin effectively. It is not within your control. So rest assured you're not setting yourself up for failure if you enjoy the holiday treats a little more than usual.
Upcoming Appointments: 1/12 for my GD test. I am dreading it! I had to take an entire day off of work (the joys being a teacher), and skipping breakfast/coffee in the morning makes me feel so sick. Any tips or helpful info would be so appreciated!
How are you feeling?: I’ve had a cold the past few days, so I’m feeling pretty crummy. I’m avoiding OTC meds if I can help it. I’ve just been resting and staying hydrated. I would love to be over the sinus issues/general fatigue so that I can enjoy Christmas with my family.
Rants/Raves: I’m just so happy to have a break from work! I love a slow morning and that is exactly what I will be savoring for the rest of winter break.
GTKY: What is your go-to cozy winter meal? I love making homemade soups! We usually make one once a week during the winter. The food blogger Damn Delicious has amazing recipes!
@v_flowers I would check with your OB about the glucose test guidelines. When I had my son in 2020 we could only have certain foods like eggs and a few other things before the test (you didn’t have to fully fast) but when I scheduled my glucose this time they said it had changed and there are no restrictions because they want a true reading of your levels based on how you typically eat! I was shocked! Just wanted to throw that out there in case it’s the same for you 😊
My glucose test is 3 days after Christmas and I am going to assume I will fail....so planning to indulge while I can! Probably not the best way to think about it, but i can't justify restricting my goodie intake at Christmas! (Maybe I should have asked to have my test before Christmas so I would be forced to control myself?)

EDD/Weeks+Days: 4/16 // 23 weeks
Baby is the size of: Grapefruit
Team blue/pink/green: Boy!
Upcoming Appointments: 1/4 to meet new OB office and get a check up, 1/20 for Glucose test and possibly 2nd AS for their review
How are you feeling?: Super good except the mad heartburn and occasional aches. Overall just exhausted though, moving during the holidays was a bad idea 😂 already stressing making friends and meeting people and such and building a community and support since we know no one where we are moving, but keep telling myself it will be fine so I don’t panic 🤷🏼♀️
Rants/Raves: Rant: Nothing really, just ready to move and start nesting in our new home! Rave: Finally feeling baby boy every day and husband has now felt him too! So nice to get this little comfort throughout the day that he is doing well!
EDD/Weeks+Days: April 25 - 22+1
Baby is the size of: coconut
Team blue/pink/green: green!
Upcoming Appointments: check up after Christmas
How are you feeling?: Pretty good! I’m mostly glad to not be nauseous anymore.
Rants/Raves: I’m just excited to have some days off for Christmas! We are supposed to get some crazy weather in MN, so gearing up for some chill days on the couch.
EDD/Weeks+Days: 23 weeks, due 4/19
Team blue/pink/green: pink
EDD/Weeks+Days: 4/12; 24 weeks
Baby is the size of: cantaloupe
Team blue/pink/green: girl!
Upcoming Appointments: I had my glucose test this morning. Next up is my Rhogam injection at 28 weeks.
How are you feeling?: Pretty good
Rants/Raves:
Also anyone else a little nervous to do the GD testing so soon after the holidays? I have an appt the first week of Jan but she didn't mention the GD test so maybe mine is not til later that month...either way maybe I should slow my roll with all the cookies I'm inhaling

Baby is the size of: no idea anymore
Team blue/pink/green: pink
Upcoming Appointments: January 5th for gtt and check up
How are you feeling?: pretty good but definitely getting to a point where I really can't eat much without feeling painful bloating.
Here’s hoping the power stays on for everyone!

@maggied26 were supposed to get some really cold weather too. A 70 degree drop from today to tomorrow. I’m really grateful that my district canceled school so our winter break starts early but nervous about how cold it’s going to get.
I'm crossing my fingers and toes that our flight isn't cancelled tomorrow. Supposed to be snow and freezing rain here
EDD/Weeks+Days: 24w 2d
Baby is the size of: ??

@trubaby411 its so cold we keep having to relight our heater. I also forgot to keep our kitchen sink dripping over night so that pipe is frozen 😬
