Collagen supplements safe? What type is best?

I've been thinking about taking collagen supplement for a long time. Now that I'm pregnant I think it may be even more beneficial but wasn't 100% sure if it was safe. I heard you shouldn't have marine sourced collagen... Is there a certain type that would be best? Anyone else taking collagen supplements while pregnant?

Re: Collagen supplements safe? What type is best?

  • It's great that you're considering collagen supplements during your pregnancy! Collagen can indeed be beneficial for skin elasticity and overall joint health. While it's true that marine-sourced collagen may not be recommended due to potential allergens, there are other options available. Bovine-sourced collagen is often considered safe and effective for pregnant women, as it is generally well-tolerated and has a good amino acid profile.

However, it's crucial to consult with your healthcare provider before starting any new supplement, especially during pregnancy. They can provide personalized advice based on your specific health needs. Many expectant mothers find that incorporating collagen into their routine supports their wellness journey beautifully. If you decide to go ahead, make sure to choose high-quality products from reputable brands. Your health and the health of your baby are paramount!
