Compression Socks for Travel - advice please!

I'll be traveling soon, including a very long international trip, and know that compression socks are recommended. I hadn't realized there were different size/compression options and I'm not really sure where to start. Any advice on sizing/compression level, or particular brands/styles you liked?

I ordered these and wore them to my doctor appt.  He checked them out and said they are a very good quality.
