2nd Trimester

Help- Worried!

Hi everyone- I work in a school with the preschool population and I’ve been using off brand Lysol wipes (containing ammoniums) several times a day to wipe surfaces. I’ve pretty much done it the whole first trimester (I’m currently 11 1/2 weeks). I’m now terrified about the fumes I’ve been inhaling. I thought it was good to use them due to how many kids have RSV, Flu, and COVID, but I’ve been unintentionally harming myself and my baby. Has anyone else used Lysol or disinfectants during pregnancy and often? I need some reassurance or something to put my mind at ease

I have now found a much safer option to use from here on out

Re: Help- Worried!

  • The "fumes" from the lysol wipes are almost zero.  Lysol wipes are not goingvto hurt you.  If you were spraying lysol all day everyday that is a different issue.

  • I use Clorox disinfecting wipes multiple times a day. I’ve honestly never considered whether or not this would harm the baby. I’m at 28 weeks now, and no issues so far.
  • I work at a long term care home and I use a strong disinfecting wipes but I use gloves when handling and I have to wear a mask at all times ..my baby is healthy I am 14 weeks
