FTM/STM/TTM+: STM EDD/Weeks+Days: 19 Weeks/April 10 Baby is the size of: Team blue/pink/green: finding out next week Upcoming Appointments: 11/23 How are you feeling?:A little nauseous these last few days. Tired as always. My so. Is finally feeling better and sleeping better so we’re all a bit more rested Rants/Raves: Were visiting our in laws in FL which is a blessing and at the same time exhausting. My son absolutely loves the beach and has been having so much fun. My in laws are sweet and love my child endlessly but are just a bit much sometimes.
@iiirene lol at the in laws. Mine are great, but also a bit much. Mil and I had some serious tension when our first was born, but she has laid off and gotten much better. She has the best intentions but just the way she goes about things is not exactly helpful sometimes. I hope you do enjoy yourself while in FL. Glad your son is loving the beach!
Upcoming Appointments: today at 2 is our anatomy scan! Regular OB appointment 11/28. Son has his year well visit 11/16. I was thinking of getting him his flu shot but since he's still not feeling 100% I'll probably wait.
How are you feeling?: feeling good! Relieved after yesterday's last minute ultrasound showed baby flipping and dancing, despite me feeling no movement. I hope today's anatomy scan is more good news. Yesterday was fun but so exhausting. I think everyone had a great time, I know we did! So much time and effort to put a party together and decorate/bake, but so worth it when you see it alp come together!
Rant: Pretty sure we are all sick again after 4 illnesses in a row, here comes 5. My sister also told us she just found out her in laws son has the flu and they just hung out with them on Saturday....ugh.
Rave: I am excited to make our "official" announcement to friends and family who couldn't attend the party yesterday!
@iiirene I feel you on the ILs, we’re spending a week with mine over Thanksgiving as well as my dad. I love them all to bits but I also love my own space, so…
@scaredunprepared no way, you’ve been sick enough already! I’m sorry, I hope it won’t last!
FTM/STM/TTM+: STM EDD/Weeks+Days: 4/5, 19+5 Baby is the size of: Team blue/pink/green: pink! Upcoming Appointments: AS on Wednesday, exciting! How are you feeling?: I’m going to request a refill for my Zofran prescription, nuff said. Rants/Raves: My son is starting to talk and it’s incredible. He’s almost four and delayed, we didn’t know if he’d ever talk and he’s going through a communication explosion right now. Also, we always knew that he had a good sense of humor but it’s really coming out now. He cracks me up multiple times a day.
@iiirene oh no, I’m so sorry! What kind of field is he in, do you think it’ll be hard for him to find a new job? That’s just the worst timing too. Hugs!
@iiirene ughhhh I'm so sorry to hear that! How stressful! I hope he is able to find something new soon!
@scaredunprepared I hope you all catch a break soon! I'm sure you're just exhausted from one illness after the next.
@etnyah that's so exciting for your son! How amazing to see all that growth!

EDD/Weeks+Days: 18&5; 4/12 Baby is the size of: 🤷♀️ Team blue/pink/green: pink Upcoming Appointments: this Thursday for a check up and 11/23 for AS How are you feeling?: Generally, pretty decent. Waves of nausea here and there, but mostly feeling pretty alright lately. Rants/Raves: I *think* I might have felt her move for the first time at acupuncture today 🤞😁
I've been so bad about never actually finishing filling these out!
FTM/STM/TTM+: STM EDD/Weeks+Days: 4/29; 16w3d Baby is the size of: grande iced coffee? Team blue/pink/green: pink Upcoming Appointments: midwife appointment on Wednesday. I have to do a 24 hour urine collection tomorrow in preparation. 😵💫 How are you feeling?: I'm feeling pretty good. I still get occasional nausea, but mostly when I haven't eaten in a while. And I have to pee a lot, which I am surprised by at this stage in the game. Rants/Raves: We started interviewing doulas this week, which is exciting. And we finally told almost all of our family. We still have my husband's siblings to tell, but that's really it.
@iiirene I'm so sorry! My husband was unemployed my entire pregnancy with my son. It was so stressful, but we made it through. I hope he finds something else soon!
@etnyah That's so amazing for your son! I can only imagine how meaningful that is for you!
@iiirene oh no! I am sorry! Also curious about the field he’s in and if you think he’ll be able to find something relatively easy. 🤞🏻🤞🏻Also read your b*tchfesf and eek. That’s really weird.
@scaredunprepared I can’t believe yet another illness comes your way! The party does sound like a lot of fun though. I hope your AS went well today!
@trubaby411 I can’t believe you’re still nauseous! Argh. I must be one of the lucky ones.
@etnyah I want to hear some of what your son is saying that’s so funny! I think that’s one of the most delightful things about being a parent… seeing things through a completely different lens / on a different level.
FTM/STM/TTM+: FTOM (O for old, haha) EDD/Weeks+Days: 20+2; April 2 Baby is the size of: a 20 week baby measuring 1 week ahead Team blue/pink/green: guess! Upcoming Appointments: got an intro call with an MFM on Wed to see if we need to be followed by her. It’s a referral from my OB. I wouldn’t mind the extra monitoring given my risk factors. How are you feeling?: tired today due to not having slept well last night. Sleep is such a crapshoot these days. I appreciate being able to nap on weekend but my meeting schedule doesn’t allow for weekday naps. Also have DOMS from prenatal yoga. But in general feeling tip top, although still pretty itchy. Rants/Raves: I find that I really start to get sick around this time of year, when the weather has turned colder (yes! Even in California! It was 35 degrees this morning when we walked the dog at 6:45am) and the Christmas lights start going up. H doesn’t get homesick so he can’t really empathize. Sigh. He’s also like “let’s not get a Christmas tree this year cause ill have to be the one dealing with it” but I put my foot down; we’ll probably get a smallish one though. Still sucks that we won’t be with / near family. Anywho… I’m very excited for Black Friday deals so that I can finish buying stuff for the baby!
Thanks for the sympathy 😕 he was in sales for a biotech company. They were bought out by another company and over the last few months have been doing a lot of layoffs. This was the 4th round and they laid off about 500 people. The severance package is alright and we will remain on his health insurance until January unless he gets a new job before then. He’s already got an interview tomorrow so I’m hopeful he will find something quickly.
@acleverusername I’m sorry you’re getting homesick. We lived across the country from my family for a few years and it was always really tough around the holidays.
@trubaby411 yay for movement! @etnyah it’s so awesome when kids start to speak. I work with a lot of speech delayed kids and watching all that growth throughout the year is just amazing.
@scaredunprepared I’m sooo glad you were able to make your announcement. I wish I could say I can’t believe you are all getting sick again but with our sickness lately I can. I asked our pediatrician what I could do to help my son stay healthy, even just for a month, and he said “Wait until May”
@acleverusername lol here’s an example: yesterday we were watching a nature documentary, he said “meow” to every animal. I would say stuff like “no silly, the tiger says roar!” and he’d laugh. Then I held up his book with cats and said “but the kitty says meow!”. He just looked at me and went “no” in the most judgmental way. So I said “no? But what does the kitty say then?” And he laughed and said “baaah!”. Then we FaceTimed with his grandparents and I told them what he had said and asked again, what does the kitty say?” and again he said “baaah” and cackled. Little jerk.
@iiirene lol wait until may...yep that sounds about right!
@etnyah aw how cute and funny!!! I actually had a little boy i worked with who was nonverbal for a long time, who actually used to do something similar with animal sounds and laugh when he did the wrong one! It was so awesome seeing his personality shine through when he was being silly like that!!! He also started talking one day, when he was about 6! It was so cool!
Had my anatomy scan yesterday. Seeing baby was great, but the tech was super quiet the whole time, which I'm not used to.
A bit of an unexpected turn, resulting in a 3 hour doctor visit at MFM. Basically, all the structures of the heart look ok, but there is some backflow happening so they are concerned the valves aren't working properly. We go back in 2 weeks for a follow up scan and echo if they decide it's necessary. And because I have a history of premature labor, I will be getting cervical checks every 2 weeks. I will be having a billion appointments, it seems.
Not exactly the results we were hoping for from the anatomy scan. But at least the doctor didn't seem too worries, and it is a fixable issue. Just hoping and praying for the best.
FTM/STM/TTM+: STM EDD/Weeks+Days: 4/19, 17w6d Baby is the size of: a croissant 🥐 Team blue/pink/green: Green Upcoming Appointments: Anatomy scan 12/1. I also just scheduled out all of my appointments through 36 weeks 😱 How are you feeling?: Heartburn has been bad lately, making any sort of diet changes (avoiding certain foods, not eating after a certain time, small meals vs large ones, etc) doesn't help. Also tired--I had insomnia last night. Took forever to fall asleep and then woke up and just laid awake in bed from 3-5am Rants/Raves: Raves--made it to prenatal yoga again over the weekend! Also DH and I got soo much stuff checked off our to-do list. Rant--recently found out DH plays a "game" where he lets our son kick him during diaper changes 🙄 so now son thinks it's funny to kick me as well. Might try to potty train after the holidays bc I am so over the struggle getting his diaper changed!
@scaredunprepared I'm sorry for the extra worry. I used to work in pediatric cardiology, and have sat in on 100s of fetal echos. Even if there is something wrong it may not need immediate attention/may resolve itself. The fetal heart is kind of crazy how it functions in utero vs after baby is born. I'm glad the dr was reassuring. Praying for good news and peace for you!
@scaredunprepared I’m sorry you didn’t get the AS experience you wanted! I’m glad they sound proactive at least, hopefully it’s nothing and it’ll resolve on its own. Definitely doesn’t help when you’re already worrying though.
Upcoming Appointments: 11/21 for my anatomy scan. I have been counting down the days for this one!
How are you feeling?: My anxiety has been so bad lately. I may or may not have cried during my planning period at school today. I don’t think the time change/cold weather has helped. Still having Braxton Hicks and what I think is round ligament pain. Getting comfortable at night and getting dressed for work in the morning is becoming quite the hassle.
Rants/Raves: I think I ranted above 😂. My rave is that my husband booked a prenatal massage for me this weekend. He knows that I’ve been struggling and it was such a sweet gesture. He’s the best!
@v_flowers aww, kudos to your H! I hope the massage helps!
I’ve also felt some BH contractions recently. I didn’t notice them at all last pregnancy, but yeah, they can be pretty uncomfortable when you do notice them.
@scaredunprepared yay for the party going well and boo for the extra stress from the anatomy scan. I hope everything works out OK!
@iiirene sorry to hear about your husband’s job; hope he finds an even better one ASAP (and maybe even starts in January so he has down time for the honey do baby prep list and can enjoy the holidays while still receiving severance payments 😉)
FTM/STM/TTM+: STM EDD/Weeks+Days: 4/12; 19 weeks tomorrow Baby is the size of: 🤷♀️ Team blue/pink/green: we know 😊 Upcoming Appointments: Anatomy scan is on Thursday! How are you feeling?: Pretty good other than an urgent visit for an eye issue that’s caused a terrible headache and inability to wear my contacts. Apparently my entire eye is inflamed (and red) and I’m starting steroid drops tonight. Rants/Raves: I am anxious for the anatomy scan on Thursday. I had a nightmare about it last night and woke up nearly in tears. Thank goodness it was a dream. Still praying for good results on Thursday. 🙏
Upcoming Appointments: anatomy scan appointment on 11/21! Excited for that one! I’m sure I’ll schedule out the next few then as well.
How are you feeling?: Really good! I feel like I’ve been a bit moody lately though 🙈
Rants/Raves: We are finishing up my son’s big boy room and working on moving him to a full sized bed in the coming weeks. It also coincides with potty training at school. It just feels like… a lot. We’ve worked with his teacher on planning & timing those two transitions but sometimes it’s overwhelming. I’ve learned that potty training is a lesson in patience 😂
rave: we put up our Christmas decor over the weekend and it makes me so happy to have it up! Makes our home feel so much more cozy, especially since it’s dark so early now. My son thankfully hasn’t messed with the Christmas tree or anything! He was so funny though - I did one of our trees during his nap time. He came downstairs afterwards and was amazed and kept saying “ooooh pretty! Mommy made it!!” 🥰
FTM/STM/TTM+: FTM EDD/Weeks+Days: 4/9; 19w3d Baby is the size of: a tiny hedgehog Team blue/pink/green: Guess! Upcoming Appointments: Anxiously awaiting our anatomy scan next Tuesday morning How are you feeling?: My belly and hips hurt lately, and I'm kind of exhausted. Rants/Raves: Simultaneous rand & rave - some of my family is visiting for the first time ever since I've lived in PA. (Funny how they suddenly want to visit when they know we have a kiddo on the way). I'm excited to see them, but also a little on the struggle bus this week with how I feel, and everything that needs to be done. I just....don't really feel up to entertaining everyone, you know? But, I'm sure it'll all be fine....
Team blue/pink/green: I'm thinking it may be a boy but I don't feel as certain this time. We will find out at our anatomy scan
Upcoming Appointments: AS on December 3 (the tech is out of the office next week so I'll be like 21 weeks and a few days) and then another prenatal visit on December 8th
How are you feeling?: I've been really good actually. I feel like this pregnancy has been so much easier than my first, but somehow thay gives me more anxiety lol.
Rants/Raves: my rant is way too much to type but basically sometimes family sucks lol. Toxic people just aren't worth the stress. My rave is that I'm finally caught up so much with work I've actually been able to work shorter days and even half days and spend more time with my daughter!
FTM/STM/TTM+: FTM EDD/Weeks+Days: 18 weeks, 5 days; 4/14 Baby is the size of: artichoke Team blue/pink/green: blue (we did the genetic testing to find out) Upcoming Appointments: 11/30 anatomy scan! How are you feeling?: Good now that I’ve finally gotten over a cold after 2 weeks! A little heartburn here and there, and I just felt the baby move for the first time yesterday (I think) Rants/Raves: My MIL making multiple “jokes” about how “fat” I’m getting, then me asking her not to and her blowing up at me for being too sensitive. Fun times. Sigh…
@firsttimemamafromboston I don't know why people think it's ok to make comments about a pregnant women's body (whether they are joking/mean well or not!). One of my pet peeves!!
@firsttimemamafromboston argh that is so incredibly rude! Pretty simple test: Just ask yourself "Would I say this to/about someone who wasn't pregnant?". If the answer is no, don't say it to someone who is pregnant either! And then getting upset when you stand up for yourself is the icing on the cake. I'm sorry you have to deal with that.
I had a really great call with an MFM today (consult). Found out a bunch of helpful things:
1) Apparently the type of thyroid antibodies that I have can't cross the placenta and get to baby so that means that our child is unlikely to inherit Hashimoto's from me! Woo! All the same, they advised that I mention to the pediatrician that I have Hashi's so that the child can be tested just in case.
2) We talked a bunch about if / when I should switch from daily Lovenox injections to Heparin injections (Heparin has shorter half-life) and I was told that whereas in the past, that's been the guideline, the most updated guidelines from the association of hematologists is to keep patients on Lovenox right up to labor and postpartum. But, the MFM did recommend I speak to my hospital's anesthesiologist to work out a game plan for an epidural just in case my hospital's policy is different (I need to be at least 12 hour out from my last shot if I'm on Lovenox, or 4-6 hours if I'm on Heparin).
3) The best news is that there is no indication that, with my risk factors, I would need to be induced at a certain gestational age, so I can just wait and see when the lil babe decides it's SHOWTIME on her/his own!
I also asked about the need for a 32-week "anatomy" scan and the MFM said it's because hypothyrodism can impact baby's growth in utero, and it's around 32nd week that we'd start to see that and - if caught early - can try to correct / plan for.
Overall, I'm VERY happy with what I've learned and the plan going forward!
@acleverusername That's all great news! And the extra anatomy scan will probably be nice. I had extra scans last pregnancy, and I liked seeing the baby further along.
@nsk489 it’s so strange that EVERYONE seems to feel entitled to comment on our bodies! Only one person has touched my belly so far. Thankfully most comments are positive/ neutral, but even friends saying “wow, your bump is getting bigger!” could make some people feel bad! People need to err on the side of caution, especially when dealing with people who are hormonal!
@firsttimemamafromboston Last pregnancy, there were concerns for IUGR for my son. People kept telling me how small I looked. I know they meant it as a "compliment", but it just reminded me that things might not be going well.
Plus, the notion of small = good is extremely problematic in itself regardless of pregnancy. People complemented me on how fast I lost the baby weight, but the reason was pp depression and struggling to eat, I was so malnourished you could see every bone in my body. And some people lose weight because they go through cancer treatment or illness. Healthy bodies come in all shapes and sizes!

Baby is the size of: pomegranate
Team blue/pink/green: green
Upcoming Appointments: Check up next Wednesday. I can’t schedule my anatomy scan until that appointment which is stressing me out.
How are you feeling?: Okay! I have thrown up in a week which has felt amazing!
Rants/Raves: I’m a teacher and this time of year just gets so busy and crazy. The kids are driving me a little nuts- or maybe it’s the hormones 🤷🏼♀️
@iiirene sorry to hear about your husband’s job; hope he finds an even better one ASAP (and maybe even starts in January so he has down time for the honey do baby prep list and can enjoy the holidays while still receiving severance payments 😉)
FTM/STM/TTM+: STM
EDD/Weeks+Days: 4/12; 19 weeks tomorrow
Baby is the size of: 🤷♀️
Team blue/pink/green: we know 😊
Upcoming Appointments: Anatomy scan is on Thursday!
@trubaby411 and @etnyah thanks for the kind words. We are trying to stay positive!
@ladyofarlington ugh I'm sorry about your nightmare. Fingers crossed you get nothing but good news Thursday!
EDD/Weeks+Days: 18 weeks, due 4/19
Baby is the size of: a sweet potato
Team blue/pink/green: we know 😊
Upcoming Appointments: anatomy scan appointment on 11/21!
Mommy made it!!” 🥰
EDD/Weeks+Days: 4/9; 19w3d
Baby is the size of: a tiny hedgehog
Team blue/pink/green: Guess!
Upcoming Appointments: Anxiously awaiting our anatomy scan next Tuesday morning
How are you feeling?: My belly and hips hurt lately, and I'm kind of exhausted.
EDD/Weeks+Days: 19 weeks 1 day, April 12th
Baby is the size of: no idea lol
EDD/Weeks+Days: 18 weeks, 5 days; 4/14
Baby is the size of: artichoke
Team blue/pink/green: blue (we did the genetic testing to find out)
Upcoming Appointments: 11/30 anatomy scan!
How are you feeling?: Good now that I’ve finally gotten over a cold after 2 weeks! A little heartburn here and there, and I just felt the baby move for the first time yesterday (I think)
Rants/Raves: My MIL making multiple “jokes” about how “fat” I’m getting, then me asking her not to and her blowing up at me for being too sensitive. Fun times. Sigh…
