Bad acne help :(

Im 6 weeks along and my skin is FREAKING OUT. Like I've never had absolutely clear skin but it has never done this. I had to change my skincare routine due to some of the products not being safe and I'm honestly at a loss because nothing is helping. It makes me feel so ugly and not want to leave my house and wearing makeup obviously irritates it more. Is anyone else dealing with this/how are you dealing with it? My fiance is annoyed of me complaining about it, I can tell.

Re: Bad acne help :(

  • I started getting acne in my mid 20s and one of the first signs that made me realize I was pregnant was the severe hormonal acne on my jaw line. I love using Tula products, their cleansing wash is gentle so it won’t irritate and from research I have done salicylic acid 2% in small amounts is okay. An alternative ( which is what I am switching to just to be safe) would be Azelaic Acid suspension 10% by the Ordinary and a good moisturizer that doesn’t clog your pores!

  • Yeah the ordinary products have been so helpful! I started getting huge painful zits (last one I had was when I was 16) I'm washing my face morning and night. It took a week for thr acne to clear out but I still get normal size zits. It's normal.since our hormones are all.over the place and our.bodies are trying to get used to the change. Don't get discouraged. It'd completely fair to complain about it, your fiance needs to understand that what you're body is going through is extreme hard change is his support is needed
  • Definitely agree with the azelaic acid from the ordinary. I loved that even when I was not pregnant (I’m pregnant with my first).

I would definitely be gentle on your skin. Anything too harsh can irritate it more. I.e. harsh chemicals/scrubs. I would recommend anything moisturizing. Hyaluronic acid will be your best friend. Don’t be scared by the word acid. Your body actually produces small amounts of it and it holds like 1000 times it’s weight in water (ergo moisturizing).

Biggest thing is what type of skin do you have now. I.e. combo/dry/oily. Dry skin- Legit everything you use should probably have hyaluronic acid in it. oily and combo- Maybe one or two things and nothing that says deep moisturizing the molecules will be too big to absorb into your skin fully.

I have combo/acne prone skin since I was a teenager and my face always loved the neutrogena hydro boost water gel. You can get it at almost any department store or drug store.

Everything else I use is basically Korean skincare. The Korean skincare industry has very high standards with what they allow and don’t allow in their products. It wasn’t until I started looking into it more that I realized a toner should NEVER be drying. (Wish my teenage self new that) it can actually make your acne worse.

I’m sorry for the long message. My skin is not perfect but I really do love skincare and would absolutely answer any questions you have.
  • I have noticed Glycolic acid from the ordinary has really helped my skin!!!
