Very low milk supply - please help!

I’ve asked multiple doctors, lactation specialists, and even friends for tips and nothing has worked. At the end of the day, I only end up with about 20ml no matter how many times I’ve pumped that day. I have tried drinking lots of water, prenatal vitamins, ovaltine, pumping every 2 hours, power pumping, skin to skin, you name it. Does anyone have advice on something else I can try? I decided yesterday to give up and I’m devastated by the thought. I want that bonding time with my baby boy so badly. He is now 9 weeks old and has no problem latching. Just not enough milk coming out. Any advice is appreciated!

  • Have you tried eating certain foods (like oatmeal) that are said to increase milk supply? Or looked at supplements?

  • So oddly enough I discovered that by wearing a tight bra (and I mean very tight) my milk supply increased. It’s a sports bra so it applies even pressure all over but it’s a couple sizes too small. It was accidental that I discovered this. My milk supply had dropped drastically and it came back strong while I was wearing a tight bra. I didn’t realize this was the case until I put one of my looser bras back on and my supply dropped again within a day or two. From what I’ve read online wearing a tight bra is not recommended because it can clog milk ducts, increase risk for mastitis, and drop milk supply. I’m not sure why I’m having the opposite effect but I guess I’d advise to proceed with caution. It may be worth trying if you’ve exhausted all options but be watchful for any signs of mastitis.
