Cervical cerclage?

I’m 12 weeks and 4days I was diagnosed with incompetent cervix with my last miscarriage at 18weeks and now I have to have a cervical cerclage and I wanted to know if anyone has had a cervical cerclage done ? Which one ? And what was your experience?

Hi. I had cervical cerclage done at 12 week with my second child because I had my first at 31 weeks. I don’t remember what type I had because I didn’t have options, they just told me a bunch of information and told me it’s best for me and the baby. I met the surgeon and felt ok. 

The surgery last around 30-40 minutes. I was given an epidural so I didn’t feel anything. I stayed at the hospital for another 3-4 hours, they made sure I peed before letting me go.  My obgyn checked the stitches with ultrasound every 2-3 weeks after that. The stitches were removed at 36 weeks, and my baby came at 38 weeks. 

I don’t remember any complications after the cerclage but I was very careful. I tried not to walk up or down the stairs, If I had to I did it slowly. I did pregnancy exercises but did not lift anything heavy.

I am now pregnant with my third and had my cerclage scheduled at 12 week.

My mom had a cerclage when she got pregnant with me and my sister. Her pregnancies progressed normally with the cerclage in place, but she was not allowed to have intercourse the whole nine months. Her water broke naturally with me but she had a scheduled CS, so her doctor removed her cerclage during the procedure.
