I think cats are better pets than dogs. They don’t need to be trained where to poop, I can leave my cats alone for a few days if I need to, my cats still love me and give lots of snuggles and love, no one is ever going to complain about my cats making too much noise. Don’t get me wrong, puppies and dogs and cute, but the energy level is soooo high and they require so much attention. Growing up we always had dogs and cats but as an adult I’ve found I’m more of a cat person.
@iiirene I am definitely more of a fan of dogs, but I remember growing up when we went on vacation we would leave the cat home with access to food and water and she was fine. It was awesome to have that ability to travel. Having dogs does make it much harder.
My UO is probably one that I will get lots of flack for, and I'm probably in the minority, but it is what it is. I think it is perfectly OK to leave your kid in the car for 5 seconds while you run in to drop another kid off at an activity or something super quick, as long as you have the ability to keep the car running and can lock it. Obviously it's different if you plan to be inside for a long time, but if it's a quick in and out I see no need to wake a sleeping baby if you can do it safely. Oh, and I can see the car the car the whole time. [Don't hate me!]
@iiirene we’re definitely cat people too. Dogs are cute but soooo much work. I grew up with cats and we’ll have cats again someday (currently no pets).
@scaredunprepared 100% agree, waking up a sleeping baby because you need to run in and I dunno, pay for gas, is pointless. My biggest worry in that scenario is “helpful” strangers who don’t know shit and call the cops without even considering the bleary-eyed parent trying to get shit done quickly. Here’s a tip: if you see a baby alone in a car and you’re worried, just stand there and watch over them for a bit. The parent will come out from the store in two seconds. No harm done (obviously do try to do something if the car is turned off and parked in the sun on a hot day, but you’ll literally never come across that scenario).

@iiirene I definitely miss the days of only having a cat. It was so easy to leave for a long weekend and just leave out food/water...and if we were going to be gone longer, somebody only had to check on him every couple of days
@scaredunprepared ok I 100% agree but still haven't done this with my toddler, for the reason @etnyah said!! I am always terrified that somebody will be waiting by my car to yell at me and tell me what a horrible person I am for running into the gas station for .5 seconds
My UO is in regards to paper plates....they have no place on your table outside of say, a 4th of July bbq. I can't stand when people use them daily instead of real plates. Even worse, when they're used for a "fancier" meal like Thanksgiving or Christmas 😱
@etnyah and @nsk489 OK glad you feel the same! I was expecting much worse lol. It is true some well meaning stranger might take things to the extreme but I feel where we live this is probably unlikely? Though anything is possible.
You'll hate me, nsk! We use paper plates daily! I just hate doing dishes that much! We ESPECIALLY use them for holidays when we have lots of company 🙈
My UO: I hate the term “earthside” for describing when a baby was born. It just makes me cringe. “Baby arrived earthside last night #blessed”. Where were they before, in outer space?? Stop.

Lol @etnyah never heard that one before. It does sound pretty odd!
My UO: I cannot stand the "mommies" at my daughter's activities. Sitting on the bleachers and listening to them prattle on about their hair appointments and all their whiny nonsense about the other mommies who are wrong about this or that. Ugh. I schedule work calls during those practices so I can excuse myself and ignore them. I know I should be trying to make friends and find my people and all that, especially since my daughter is in school now, but I just can't with the drama.
@beaniebaking you aren't alone. I hate making small talk so i avoid the other moms at my daughter's activities too. Fortunately, my son needs to be constantly moving around so that's my excuse to avoid them lol
