We finally picked a name (Andrew/Andy) and I’m thrilled we can call him something other than “the baby” but now we are utterly perplexed about a middle name. We don’t want to use one of the other names on our very short list because we are leaving the door open for a second kid and don’t want to use up two of our preferred names in case the second is also a boy.
We threw around some family names, but there aren’t any we felt strongly about. It feels like starting the name process all over again 😅
@courtney701 Hooray! I always liked the name Andrew. Are you open to middle name suggestions? Are there any letters you want to avoid because of how the initials would look?
@hestia-is-wearie I’d love some suggestions! No particular initial, or any we’re really against (I don’t think, unless it creates a problematic acronym but we didn’t immediately come up with any). Last name starts with a W.
Do you guys have any roots in like genealogy you could look up maybe like a cool name corresp to that or something to that matter?
We might use Andrew for our middle name if it end sup being a boy because that was my grandfather's name who recently passed and I was super close with him. I think if we use it, we'll use it as a middle name and Oliver Andrew keeps sounding really cute to me. It flows nicely.
We are waiting to find out what we’re having, and we’ve got our boy name locked in. For a girl, we were set on Scarlett Rae and calling her “Lettie” (Rae is non-negotiable as a middle name, it’s a legacy middle name in my family since my great grandma!).
Last week, my husband sadly lost his grandfather, Frank, who was his best friend and role model. We were really hoping he could make it through to May. I was giving it some thought and I think it would be so great to honor him somehow. Our boy name already involves his name, but for a girl I was loving the name Francesca Rae and calling her “Frankie” as a tribute to his Grandpa Frank. My husband loves Frankie more than Lettie but isn’t sold on Francesca as much as Scarlett. I truly love them both and don’t think we can go wrong but would love some weigh ins!
Hey! My husband and I are expecting baby boy on May 20 and are wondering what vibe you get from the name “Nash.” We really love the meaning since this is PAL… it means by the ash tree, which connects the heavens and earth (Norse mythology). 🥹
@acamomma18 I agree with @AdrienneAudrey Nash is a great name. Our old neighbor is Nash and it does grow well into adulthood. It’s a unique name around here in Northern California. If the name impacts you more with meaning then it’s the right fit.
our boy will be Jack Daniel 😬 not my ideal name but there is a reason for it. Jack is my husbands grandfathers name (a good reason why my husband joined the military) and typically the fathers first name then becomes the child’s middle name. This little guy is our 9th pregnancy my 3rd baby to make it this far so I feel for heart felt meanings on names. My husbands grandfather was born May 20th this guy is coming May 6 I was due May 13th. So some of our family likes to believe he sent us this baby because this was going to be our last pregnancy regardless of the outcome. So I’ve come to terms with the name and it has a purpose.
So in the end stay strong to your feelings with the name meaning. People will always have something to say about our children’s names. But only family will know the true meaning ❤️
