1st Trimester

First trimester weight gain

Hey guys! So this is my first pregnancy and I was surprised with twins. I am 11 weeks and gained 7 pounds already though it’s hard to tell if it’s just bloat and water weight or actual weight gain.  I was normal a normal BMI prior, 125 pounds and 5’8”. Is this too much for 11 weeks even with twins? I just don’t want to gain too much too fast and cause issues down the line for me and the kiddos. I read all the time 1-4 pounds but that’s for singletons… is it the same amount for twins? I just don’t want to give birth 70 pounds plus!

Re: First trimester weight gain

  • I definitely don't see that as to much. You have twins and your body is just adjusting to those two little lives. Enjoy your pragnancy but if you feel like it's just too much for your body frame talk to your doctor about seeing a nutritionist to give you a little more information. But I'm pretty sure that's normal for someone having twins. Congratulations!

  • I am 10 weeks and have gained just over ten pounds. Starting this pregnancy, which is my first, I was 130 pounds at 5'6". Prior to getting pregnant I did pilates, yoga and spinning - I assumed I would gain 25 pounds in the whole pregnancy because I was so fit. Now I am so hungry that I truly eat 6 meals a day and barely exercise.

I spoke with my doctor on Tuesday about it, she said there is nothing to worry about and almost everyone levels off in time.
