Induction: advice?

Hi everyone! My pregnancy has gotten really tough, I have terrible insomnia and can barely walk anymore because of my back, I’m also no polar so my mental health has been all over the place. I also have high blood pressure so my doctor recommended getting induced and I think it would really help being able to feel normal again. My fiancé doesn’t want to induce, he was raised in a very Christian family who believes everything should be done naturally in a birthing process. I don’t know how to explain to him enough that it would be the best decision for myself without feeling selfish. Help!! No judgement please

Re: Induction: advice?

  • Well your fiance isn't birthing a baby so his opinion is irrelevant. If you're far enough along that the doctor is recommendeding it and it's medically safe I would do it. Basically if you are over 38 weeks and the doctor is saying it will help then it doesn't matter what your fiance or his family thinks.

  • Ya I agree, I don't think it is ultimately your husband's decision. You could perhaps ask for a membrane sweep first which isn't guaranteed to work, but isn't a true induction and could lead to labour! I hope you can meet your little one soon, I am with you, I am so uncomfortable.
