baby measuring small

I had my first vaginal ultrasound yesterday and the baby is measuring small. I went from being 8 weeks and 3 days to 7 weeks which seems like a lot. The doctor didn’t seem concerned but I of course am lol. Anyone else experiencing this or have with prior pregnancies?

Yes I actually got spooked into possibly being induced with my last one bc she measured smaller in her torso area, which was SO silly. Please don't let yourself worry. It could be bc of a multitude of reasons for example like if you're a shorter or smaller person, or typically girls are smaller babies. The baby will grow at their own safe rate 😇

OMG yes!!! I’ve been “hoping” this topic would come up. I went in for my first ultrasound on Tuesday and was supposed to be 8w4d. Baby measured 7w1-2d (9-10 day difference, just like you!). I broke down crying because this is PGIL for me. Also like you, my OB said not to be concerned and that this happens all the time. You may have ovulated late (I know I did at day 19) and the egg may have been slower to travel. I go back in about 1.5 weeks… that’s the key. Hopefully we see proportional growth. What was baby’s heartbeat? They told me that having a heartbeat is a huge reassuring sign 💓💓💓

heartbeat was 146!! my doctor said i don’t need to come back for 5 weeks which is terrifying so let me know how yours goes!!!

@acamomma18 “supposed to be 8w4d”, do you mean by LMP? Because if you know you ovulated 5 days later than “normal”, you should consider yourself 7w6d.

146 is a great heartbeat! We were at 142.

@catem07 - yes the 8w4d is based on LMP. And correct, I should add 5 days which then doesn’t make the gap as severe. 😅

@acamomma18 I have been thinking of you too!! going through. rough patch of morning sickness but hopefully that means everything is good with baby . how are you?!

@knottie7a6cae5b4c5156d3 That’s “great” to hear 😆 I’ve been doing okay… just waiting to go in Monday to get an update. Hopefully baby is growing well and is right on track 💕 I’m trying to stay calm and hopeful… easier said than done! I wish we could just take a sneak peak lol.

@acamomma18 🙏🏽all goed well on your next visit on Monday...same here I am measuring small so I am hoping for a better update on my next visit about 1.5 weeks also...but i am also short and have a short torso So I'm praying thats why and all is well.

@misscarter87 sending love!! My OB always told me “some people just make small babies.” I’m thin built but 5’10” with a long torso; first was born on her due date at 6 lb 8 oz (so indeed, a bit smaller!). Fundal height always measured 1-2 weeks off. Keep us posted!!! 💕

@acamomma18 thank you so much my 1st was born at 37 weeks 6lb 2oz and my 2nd was born preterm at 34 wks 4lb 13oz...healthy and no nicu just a preemie...my blood pressure rose and wouldnt go down so I had to have emer c section so i'm praying its because im so short and tiny baby is measuring small and all goes well heartbeat is viable at next visit. 🙌🏽🙏🏽

I’m sorry you’re all going through this anxiousness… glad I am not alone & sending you all love. Had first u/s on Friday and was so excited to see the tiny bean with a heartbeat fluttering visibly (123 BPM). By my math, I was coming up on 8w, but baby is measuring more like 6w. OB told me to “guard my heart” because this could be indicative of an unviable pregnancy… I am holding on to hope that perhaps my dates of ovulation weren’t as certain as I thought. I return this week to further assess… so anxious and nervous but trying to remember that my body knows what to do.

All - hopefully this is encouraging, but I had my follow-up ultrasound this morning and it looked great 💕 Baby grew 2 weeks worth, had a heartbeat of 169, and even wiggled a bit. I cried seeing the movement. I hope that gives everyone hope; sometimes babies just start out later than we think! (Still bracing of course… I lost my last baby, but trying to focus on this being a NEW pregnancy)
