Monday Bitch Fest

To start: one of the enrichment teachers and her para were both out today, we only had coverage for the morning so we had to shuffle kids around and my afternoon class had 4 more kids than usual. Then, as I was leaving work a member of administration was thanking me for being flexible but gave the heads up that both enrichment teachers and two out of the four paras will be out again tomorrow. WTF? Who made that scheduling mistake? We have a huge sub shortage so tomorrow will be an absolute mess. Then I get a call from the urgent care that I went to on Saturday for a UTI and they said the lab work came back negative. So they don’t know what’s wrong with me. It’s been a Monday for sure.

@iiirene it really has been the Monday-est Monday ever! I don't know what's in the air, but today was just a shit kind of day. Solidarity.

  • @iiirene ugh that sounds like a terrible Monday (and probably an equally as terrible Tuesday!)

My rant for today is WHYYYY does my husband always have to run errands at dinner time?!! I get that he works all day and can't always sneak out during the day, but it frustrates me to no end when he comes in the house at 5:30 (we eat at 6 most nights) and has to run out to do something. It's always something last minute too....like today, someone texted him after 5:15 telling him to stop over at 6 to pick up the equipment he needs to borrow. Like, you CAN say "hey can I stop over after dinner instead, around 6:30?". Ugh.
Mostly just bitching bc trying to cook dinner while simultaneously taking care of a toddler sucks, and I count on that "break" at 5pm 🙃

I went back to the office today for the first time in two weeks due to Covid and UGH. The workload wasn’t as awful as I had feared but everyone were in a mood and I couldn’t deal.

Also, I work in an office. In a client faced position, but almost exclusively through email and phone, yet one person (not one of the bosses) has decided we should all wear company polo shirts? Hell no. She was on my case about me not wearing mine and pointed out that everyone else were wearing theirs. I looked around and noticed every woman wearing it and zero men. So I said “I see plenty of employees not wearing them” and went back to my desk, and I asked one of the guys if she had pushed it with him and he said no. I’m not going to wear a fugly polo shirt out of peer pressure, business casual is company policy and the gendered pressure feels SUPER icky.

  • @nsk489 I have a similar rant about my husband. He works from home, but somehow ALWAYS has to unload the dishwasher when I get home. He makes a whole production of it, putting dishes on every surface of the kitchen. The main entrance to our house is through the kitchen, so I'm putting stuff down, helping preschooler take off shoes, unloading groceries, just being grumpy after another day in a shifty high school, but he cannot possibly pick another moment to do this.
  • @nonlinear_function ugh!! He prob thinks he's being helpful too, while not realizing how in the way he is. My husband WFH too and always makes a ruckus when our son is napping 🙃
  • Its Thursday but I'm bitching anyway... we are on week one of a new nanny. Its her 3rd day, and she showed up FORTY minutes late!!! WTF!

  • @MsBeachNJ ugh! Finding childcare is sooo hard. I worked with someone like that at my last job-came in like 20/30 minutes late the first week. She was kind of habitually late and called out so much she eventually got fired. Hope that’s not the case for you
  • @iiirene omg I sincerely hope not!! Thursdays is her only early day (830 start) the other days she starts at 1130. We are fortunate to both work from home but its impossible to have a 3 year old entertained if I am in meetings, and I am ALWAYS on camera, so she makes frequent cameos without childcare.

  • @MsBeachNJ being late (especially when you are new to the position) really gets under my skin. I understand that life happens, but I need you to prove that you're dependable before I can give you some leeway there. I hope it's a one time thing!
  • @trubaby411 I agree- she didn't even reach out - I texted her 15 minutes after her start time to ask if everything was ok as I was expecting her, she replied, Yes I'm sorry! and then 10 minutes later "Be there soon!". I'm thinking she over slept but like... not a good start!!

  • @MsBeachNJ that makes it even worse! Late and you had to be the one to chase her down?! Man, she better be like gold the rest of the time...not a good start at all!
  • @MsBeachNJ oh man that's definitely a red flag.  Maybe it is just a one off and she is not usually like that?  🤞 Things happen, I get that.  Hoping she proves herself!
