Transverse Position Miles Circut

I’m 35+3 with my second. I just had my doctor tell me baby is in transverse position. She immediately starting talking a C-section and freaked me out a bit. My first was a pretty straight forward vaginal birth and I expected the same this time. I talked to a couple friends one who is a doula and they suggested the Miles Circut. Anyone tried this? Did it work to spin baby?

Re: Transverse Position Miles Circut

  • My first was transverse until 36/37 weeks. She ended up flipping. I know there is a website called spinning babies that many people recommend. My doctor was planning on trying to turn the baby before resorting to a C section. The Miles Circuit sounds like a good thing to try. It definitely can't hurt.

  • @jennaverhaeghe my baby flipped from breach to head-down within the 36th week, and the midwives said they don’t worry until the 37th week or so. There is still time. I can’t speak to the Miles Circut, but my baby did flip the day I tried the ice trick. I basically put a cold pack near his head on and off (not too much), and also did a bunch of cat cows. It was pretty noticeable when he flipped, which was while I was in bed.

My first was transverse up until the 36th week as well and flipped to head down one day without intervention.

You could also ask your Dr about spinning babies and if there’s a practitioner nearby who could do this.

Hopefully something will work, usually they will flip on their own 🤞
  • Thank you ladies! It makes me feel hopeful. I have found a doctor that will spin the baby so I’m going to try it. At my doctors appointment this week we will discuss going ahead with it. I will try that ice trick though! I’m willing to try almost anything to avoid a c-section.

  • In a similar vein, baby is healthy and fine at 39 weeks, but in breech position. Which I swear he was head down a week ago. Dr wanted to schedule C Section for THIS friday (in 2 days) but I'm pretty upset. I'd like to give it more time, at least a week to see if baby can turn again. I'm just not ready to give up my chance to go through labor and go thru major abdominal surgery without trying. Doctors these days are cut happy, its the safest for them! Seems like he wanted me in this Friday bc he was already doing surgery that morning. What's so wrong with waiting till spontaneous labor and seeing if I need a C section then?

Hoping our babies turn @jennaverhaeghe !! I'll look at the baby spinning site.
  • If this is your first baby then they should be trying everything they can to avoid a c section including turning the baby themselves or having someone who knows what they are doing to do it.

Seemed like my doctor "decided" for me and didn't offer any options. Yes it is my first baby and I want to avoid a c section if possible! Felt very frustrated and disappointed after the appointment. I cried haaaard. I had to ask about turning the baby and he said he hasn't had much success with it and he went ahead and scheduled the C section. Can't have a C section if I cancel and don't show up tho! :^) I'm not an incubator, I'm a human being with feelings and im the one that has to live with long term consequences to major surgery.

Funny thing is he asked if I was going to have my tubes tied bc they could do that while they're opening me up..but didn't ask if I wanted more kids and was trying to avoid C section.
  • Oof yeah. That's absolutely not okay. I have c sections and it's definitely best to avoid them if at all possible. I'm baffled by him asking about a tubal. I was on my third kid before they asked me. Good luck! I've definitely had friends that had babies turn while in labor. It's all about what you are comfortable with. There is also information about delivering breech babies vaginally out there but it sounds like your doctor has already made up his mind and won't help you. I would honestly call around.
  • Ty for the well wishes! I'm giving it a week to turn this baby. I'll be trying the things in this video: https://youtu.be/pteEYX8zwWc
  • *update: the miles circuit didn’t work. Upon discussion with my doctor and husband we have decided to try an ECV. I’m hoping that will be successful and I can have a vaginal delivery. If not I’m booking in for a c-section in 2 weeks. I’m feeling better about everything but still nervous. Thank you for the well wishes, I’m excited for all of this to be over and meet our little one. I wish everyone else all the best!

  • @jennaverhaeghe I really hope the EVC goes well! Sending good vibes. I'm glad your doctor is willing to work with you. My doctor was pushing me for a C section in 2 days after my appointment Wednesday and had brushed off the idea of an EVC.

He also seemed doubtful that my baby turned from head down to butt down during my 38th week on his own. Though i know he did (based off doppler readings and where I felt hiccups). I'm still hoping to turn him back on my own with stretching and exercises.

  • LOVE IT!!! praying baby stays head down and all goes smoothly 🙏 ❤️
