Subchorionic hematoma diag. at 22 weeks

During my 20 week anatomy scan, the tech and doctor saw something "weird" with my placenta and sent me to a specialist for a followup (cue the anxiety!) I saw them at 22 weeks (I'm currently 23 weeks), and they said I have a medium sized SCH near/on my placenta. I have another US with the specialist scheduled in a couple weeks from now to see if it has grown or changed in any way. I haven't had any real symptoms (no bleeding or cramping) so idk how long it's been there without us knowing. I've heard of these more commonly being found in first trimester, not so much this late in the pregnancy.
Anyone else with similar experience?
I am worried about potential placental abruption, but trying really hard to keep my anxiety down until the next appt and we know more....

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I hope things turn out well! Not super similar, but I had a large one diagnosed at 12 weeks that’s not gone yet (I’m 21 now) and it’s been a huge, HUGE source of anxiety. Similar in that I have no symptoms and it was only seen on u/s. Have heard conflicting things from different docs at my practice which is annoying- take it easy vs live your life normally. My only advice is stay off the internet about it. I think I read every article, message board post, medical journal article, Instagram tag, etc. Mostly just stressed me out. Often after 20weeks if everything else looks normal, I understand that you should be fine. And the further the baby gets the better for viability if born early. Mine is (knock on wood) appearing to be slowly shrinking. Hope that info helps? The waiting is brutal. Sending so much love!

@laurasaur28 I don’t have any advice but I’m sure that’s unsettling to hear. I hope it reduces, I know most do generally but don’t have first hand experience. Just always trust your mom-gut and go into the dr/OB-ER with anything that concerns you.
