Fever Effecting Sperm Count

My Husband has a had low sperm count and motility but good numbers for IUI. We were on our third cycle of iui. When going in after sperm wash it showed him at 0 motility and 0 morphology. With these numbers we are unable to do the procedure. He recently had a high fever of 102.5. The doctors stated this could be the reason. Has anyone ever gad this issue?

Though we didn't experience this, it absolutely makes sense. Sperm have a preferred temperature range, and don't like heat. That's why doctors advise against hot tubs, working with a laptop on your lap, tight undies that keep the testicles too close to the body, etc. A fever would have a similar effect.

@jenbar678 Yes, the fever definitely affected his sperm count and quality of his sperm. Wait at least 3 months for him to rebuild his supply before trying again. I’m sorry you weren’t able to do your 3rd cycle.

A high fever, like your husband's 102.5°F, can temporarily affect sperm count, motility, and morphology, potentially leading to 0 motility and morphology, as you experienced. Sperm quality usually recovers within a few weeks as new sperm are produced. It's not uncommon, and taking time to recover before the next IUI cycle might help.
