Infertility

Experience with IVIg - New Member (child, loss mentioned)

I’ve been trying for 2 years to have my second child. I suffered my first miscarriage in 2017, then gave birth to a daughter in 2018. I had a chemical pregnancy in 2020, then suffered my second miscarriage in 2021. Both miscarriages occurred because the baby had 3 sets of chromosomes instead of two. It led three doctors to uncover that many of my eggs are translocating and extra set of chromosomes that is supposed to dissolve off the egg upon fertilization.

After 4 rounds of IVF and 2 failed transfers, my doctor sent me to a specialist in implantation issues. I was diagnosed with autoimmune and inflammation issues in my uterus. We have one embryo left. The new doctor recommends a new protocol with multiple blood infusions.

One blood infusion is called IVIg. It is used for people who have autoimmune issues. It is very expensive and takes 4 hours. If you are lucky to get pregnant, you continue doing the transfusion every 3-4 weeks for the first trimester. It works for some women but isn’t well proven.

Does anyone have experience with IVIg? It seems like a lot to go through, and I am so exhausted by the past two years.
