2nd Trimester

Anterior placenta

I am almost 20 weeks pregnant with an anterior placenta and I haven’t felt my baby move. If you have an anterior placenta please share your experience. I’ve read that mothers will start feeling movement between 18-22 weeks so I’m not too worried, but when did you start to feel movement?

Re: Anterior placenta

  • I had an anterior placenta with my first pregnancy and didn't feel movement until 21 weeks.

  • I'm anterior, 26 weeks now,  but i didn't start feeling anything until around 22 weeks.
  • I’m 23 weeks and didn’t feel him until last week! I’m a FTM with an anterior placenta. It felt like a wave at first. Now it’s more often and feels like he’s playing drums very lightly.
  • I'm 21 weeks and just started noticing movement but it's very subtle, and irregular. since the placenta is anterior my doctor said right now most of the movement will be felt at night while I'm laying on my side, and I've found that is pretty accurate. it's still very hard to feel. I haven't felt much today or yesterday. it actually frustrates me that I can't.
  • I’m 25 weeks tomorrow (with an anterior placenta) and little lady’s movements have definitely picked up in frequency and intensity over the last 3 weeks!
  • I also have an anterior placenta. I'm only 14 weeks so this is helpful to know when I might expect to start feeling the baby move.

I'm no longer feeling first trimester symptoms and since I won't feel the baby for awhile this time kind of comes with some worry without any other indication that things are progressing in-between appointments. Anyone else feel like this?

This baby is a result of IVF, so I've been so paranoid something could happen.
  • @enaids the 6 weeks between my 12 week appointment and 18 week anatomy scan I was super anxious for the same reason. But I’m 20 weeks now, we saw him moving a ton, and everything looked exactly normal. I think I’m starting to feel him a little when I’m laying on my side at night, but honestly it’s hard to tell. I’ve felt one really distinct kick really low, like what would be below my placenta, but the rest of the maybe-movement has been kind of cryptic, like a bubble popping but not quite like normal gas moving, and it definitely could just be gas that’s feeling weird as my uterus squishes my other organs. It’s definitely still a bit mysterious, but I’m less anxious after the scan.
