Re: FFFC 9/2

  • I've very much been eff it more so with this pregnancy than last regarding food. One of the only things appealing right now is lunch meat sandwiches. I've been eating them with no remorse.

  • I have two baby showers I need to buy gifts for. Both baby girls. I usually buy a nice swaddle blanket with matching hat/bow, bibs, and either carseat cover or burp cloths.

I was looking through the usual place and it I decided to do something else for them because the only set that would match their decor taste is a set that I totally want to buy for MY baby if I have a little girl and have been eyeballing it just in case for the last two pregnancies. I'm totally convinced this baby is a boy and I only really see these ladies at church so basically I'm being a selfish brat. Wtf is wrong with me?!!

  • @gravcass I just ate a huge deli croissant sandwich today for lunch. Eff it!

@nopegoat I think you are allowed to reserve a special gift for yourself. What site do you use?

  • @gravcass - I'm so nonchalant about it, I forgot the "no lunchmeat" was even a thing until I saw people start mentioning it on here.

My confession is sometimes at work, even when we're busy, I'll take a "brain break" and read a book on my phone. Usually because I can't stop thinking about the book.

  • Absolutely guilty of not following most dietary restrictions for pregnancy. When I was pregnant with DD#2, there was a huge issue contaminated lettuce. It felt like nothing was "safe" to eat so I started researching more info on dietary restrictions and realized most of it is a very low chance of issues. I had sushi a couple weeks ago because it was the only thing I wanted to eat. And I've never stopped eating lunch meat while pregnant 🤷🏻‍♀️

  • @Wishilivedinflorida it's not even a super special shop or anything. It's Copper Pearl. I absolutely fell in love with their quilts when I was pregnant with my 5th so I try to share that love when I can.

  • @mytrueloves the only real dietary restriction I follow during pregnancy is avoiding raw oysters. I've gotten sick from them before while not pregnant so that's always stuck out to me lol. Everything else foodwise I just use common sense and moderation. Don't buy sketchy gas station sushi and eat rare steak every day.

Oh I don't drink alcohol whatsoever either but I don't drink when not pregnant so 🤷‍♀️

  • @mytrueloves I was just having a conversation about that the other day. I’ve never heard of a recall on lunch meat but I swear lettuce and vegetables have recalls all the time for some kind of bacteria. Lol. The food rules are so frustrating.

@nopegoat totally fair to not get the set that you’re eyeing for someone else. I’d feel the same way.

  • For my confession, I’ve been a bit stressed with work this week and I absolutely swear I have not put one nutritious thing into my body in a week. We’ve been getting drive thru food like crazy and now I’m feeling really bad about it (because of baby and because I feel like crap). The only consistent food craving I’ve had this whole pregnancy has been French fries and I’ve been way overindulging. Time to reset this weekend.

  • @nopegoat you totally get to reserve it for you! Also copper pearl is amazing. I bought some of their bibs for my daughter and I love them!

My confession: the drive home from Kelowna on Sunday was horrible. We were supposed to get home at 6, but got home at 10 because of that detour from an accident. Luckily, the next day I got to WFH because the water wasn't working. I didn't do a single thing except watch Echoes. Which BTW is a great show haha

@nopegoat oh yeah, alcohol is definitely one I adhere to strictly. I have a sibling with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome and we don't know how much alcohol can be consumed safely. I also don't drink alcohol when not pregnant though. I mostly just pay attention to what has clear risk. Like I know excessive caffeine consumption can increase risk of miscarriage so I stay within "safe" limits. I know which specific fish is most at risk to be contaminated / have high mercury content and I avoid that. But I'm still eating sushi and lunch meat and the occasional soft cheese 🤷🏻‍♀️

    @TortugaAzul I feel that 100%

  • My confession is that I *implied* to my husband and MIL that pelvic rest and bedrest are the same thing so they cut me some slack

  • @TortugaAzul same! My husband has been doing so much more like making our son daycare lunches every day, when that was usually my job but I'm like, "why can't we at least go to splitting that duty? He's your son too!"
  • Ok, I've not even been able to say this to my Dr. but I drank like daily before I knew I was pregnant when we were on vacation (like a glass of wine a day) and I shouldn't have cause we were trying and I knew there was a chance... 😬

  • @gravcass totally guilty on the lunch meat thing… some days it’s all I can stomach. 🤷🏻‍♀️

@cheznet with my first, I got pregnant at the start of my honeymoon in california. So obvi there was a lot of wine and beer and cider happening! Then with my second I found out the day after my good friends wedding - cue more wine and beer. Felt guilty but not much to do about it now.
  • I finally have one! Lol. I’ve been using my Doppler twice a day because my anxiety has been through the roof and it’s the only thing that makes me feel better. I told my husband I would only use it every few days (he thinks it’s incredibly dangerous).
I hope once I’m back to work Tuesday and then after my ultrasound at 14 weeks, I’ll feel better and relax. Once I feel movements I think that will help too with the reassurance that this little one is still in there.

  • My confession is that I just had a “discussion”
with DH about our son’s hand me downs and how he gets to have some new things too (he doesn’t seem to think so 🙄) because they’re two completely different seasons babies!!! When May rolls around and baby only has sweaters and pants to wear in 3 month clothing I’ll play the “I told you so” game and I can’t wait 🙃🙃🙃🙃

Oh girl, I easily would have 2 glasses of wine a day, while trying. At that early super early stage of pregnancy, you’re fine.
