Curious to know if I’m the a-hole here. We just went to Oregon for my brothers wedding which was tough on my son because it really messed with his schedule. We flew back Sunday, on Monday my husbands friend flew in and we went to a concert. The friend is leaving today. On Tuesday my husband got news that one of his friends since childhood passed away suddenly. My husband is going to a concert tomorrow and Saturday, leaving me to have full responsibility of Parenting our son. On Tuesday he’s flying out for the funeral, again leaving me in 100% responsible for our child, and will come back with his parents on Thursday. Next Friday is our anniversary. We haven’t ever really had a chance to celebrate in the 5 years we have been married. My husband has another friend, who is in a band, coming into town on our anniversary to play a show. My husband wants to go to the show. I don’t. When I told him this he made me feel guilty because he doesn’t live in the same state as many of his friends. Am I a jerk for not wanting to spend our anniversary at a concert of a band we’ve seen a million times before.

@iiirene NTA. That’s a lot of activity in a short amount of time. Definitely understand you not wanting to go. If it was a band and a friend you never ever see it would be different, but still.

Also: why did he make you feel guilty for living away from his friends? I also live far away from most of my friends. That was my choice when I decided to marry a man from a different country and move there. I would never make him feel guilty for that or use it against him to get my way. Low blow.

Additional also: this is prime time to pull the pregnancy card.

@iiirene NTA. It's your anniversary, you should spend it doing something you BOTH want to do. Also I can't even imagine being able to stay awake late enough for a concert 🤣🤣 I would 100% be playing the pregnant card

Agreed with what @etnyah and @nsk489 have said! But let me ask, is this a one of / do you normally have a supporting & equal relationship? Is he acting out of character here?

Oh @etnyah, yesterday I went to my acupuncturist and I figured out I was using blisslets incorrectly. The nubs where NO WHERE near my nausea point. Lol. Today I'm wearing them properly, and feeling great. I felt like a$$ yesterday.

@acleverusername oh weird! So it can vary from person to person? I just followed the two finger length instructions. Maybe I’ll dig them out from the drawer and give it another try!

@acleverusername it’s typically a pretty even and respectful relationship. I think that because his friend died that suddenly it’s really important to him to see out of state friends.

@iiirene might be worth asking him about it / talking about it. And then trying to explain how you're feeling. It's probably pretty reactionary right now. Honestly, your social agenda has my head spinning! I feel so old. Put me in the column of ppl who go to sleep at 8:30pm.

@MsBeachNJ question for a fellow beach dweller / lover. Do you have a stroller for beach outings? I'm thinking of getting a used BOB just for that purpose and also for more "hybrid terrain walks" (where we live is super sandy; I can't imagine a 'city' stroller being practical). Would love opinions / options.

@acleverusername we didn't buy it specifically for this reason, but it works really well! We have the baby jogger city mini... it gives great shade, lays flat for napping (my almost 3 year old sleeps comfortably in it still) and folds up with one hand... its by far my favorite stroller (we also spent $$$ on the Uppa Baby Vista but really only used that when my girls were under 6 months)

@acleverusername I’ll also vouch for the city mini! Haven’t used it on a beach but it handles rough terrain pretty well and is fantastic to maneuver. And if kiddo likes stroller rides when older, they’ll fit for a long time since it has a higher weight and height limit than most. I have friends whose 6 year olds still take the occasional snooze in that stroller. Only caveat is lacking storage space.

edit: I’d be wary of Bob strollers after the front wheel issues they’ve been having. Tons of horrible accidents where the wheel falls off during a run. Really, they should have been recalled. Maybe it’s fixed now but I wouldn’t trust it.

Pretty sure my son will give this pregnancy away. He’s taken to fake gagging after hearing me throw up. Whoops!

@etnyah @MsBeachNJ thanks for the feedback! My sister had a city mini with her kiddos back in 2013/2015 so I know that stroller well! 

That's horrible about the front wheel falling off the BOB stroller! I hadn't heard about that, but will definitely take a look before I seal the deal.

@acleverusername here’s a link to a short article explaining it. It’s old though (this was hot news when my son was a newborn), and I don’t know what happened afterwards, or if the accidents continued. If I was in the market for a jogging stroller I’d definitely look further into it!

Hoping I didn’t jinx myself but… I just bought some NB and 0-3 mo size sleepers. Primary is having a PJ sale and my son is outgrowing his current size so I bought new ones for him, and then the itty bitty baby clothes just sort of fell into the cart.

@etnyah I’ve been buying maternity clothes on Poshmark and thinking the same thing. Also, just looked up Primary and gonna make some purchases! I’ve been waiting to ask for gender neutral options on here! Thanks!

@acleverusername Primary is my absolute favorite. My son wears it almost exclusively. Gender neutral is what they do best, they have lots of good sales too!

Their sizes run really small though, and you won’t know yet, but they don’t really fit chubby babies that well. My son is a string bean so they’ve fit him really well, but my friends with chubby babies haven’t been the biggest fans.

One thing I’ve noticed as a preschool teacher is that the zippers on the Primary zip up hoodies don’t always last and can get pretty difficult to zip/unzip. Besides that I love the simplicity and gender neutrality of them. I bought my son a pullover sweatshirt last year and I’m hoping it will still fit him during Christmas this year. It says “It’s a beaut Clark”. I made the words with my cricut.  

We’re also going to need to buy my son a new winter jacket and I’m looking at the puffer jackets from Primary. @entyah do you know much about their winter coats. Are they waterproof?

@iiirene unfortunately not waterproof! I got him one puffer jacket once but it wasn’t that great.

 For rain/winter gear I don’t trust anything but Scandi brands like Polarn O Pyret and Helly Hansen. Super pricey but lasts forever. I usually buy it when I go home to Norway since it’s slightly cheaper there.

Here’s a good “100% Primary” outfit! One of few non-blurry pictures of him, he’s never still lol. Size reference: he’s 3.5 and 99th percentile for height, wearing sizes 4 and 5. Just bought PJs in sizes 6-7 because 4-5 are too small. Howwwww.

Lol just clicked on my "inbox" randomly and saw I had a message (a couple weeks old) from one of the people who posted a random thread then got mad when they got called out about it. I'm sure a couple of you have some nice messages waiting in your inbox too 😂
