    EDD / Weeks + Days: April 12 - I will be 8 weeks tomorrow

Baby is the size of a:

Team blue/pink/green: having a boy would be cool but I'd be equally as happy with another little girl

Upcoming Appointments: I have my dating ultrasound on September 10th

How are you feeling?: nauseous, tired, my boobs are still pretty sore. Also the bloat is unreal.  I already have issues with severe bloat if I eat gluten but now I just feel bloated like 24/7

Rants/Raves: finally took my daughter to the zoo for the first time and she had such a blast. I love seeing her excitement for new things

    Questions: not at this point

GTKY: Are you ready for fall or still holding on to the last bits of summer? I've been ready for fall since winter started last year lol. I'm not a fan of hot humid weather and fall is my absolute favorite season. I love the colors and all my favorite outfits are for fall lol. Plus apple cider 😋 and the caramel apples from our towns local candy store are the best!

FTM/STM/TTM+: TTM (I have a 6 year old & soon to be 3 year old, both girls)

    EDD / Weeks + Days: 4/15 7 weeks 2 days

Baby is the size of a: blueberry supposedly but I don't really follow that!

Team blue/pink/green: We will stay team green till delivery!

Upcoming Appointments: First appointment tomorrow! I am AMA and (TW) have a history of loss so my doctor is seeing me earlier than the usual 8 week appointment. Praying for a great update tomorrow!

How are you feeling?: I can't seem to regulate my body temperature. I am either freezing or melting hot... also, anyone else have awful insomnia? I am so exhausted & fall asleep almost instantly - but then wake middle of night and am up for HOURS. It is brutal!

Rants/Raves: Out of nowhere my jaw is in excruciating pain, read it could be TMJ? I don't know but its unbearable and I cannot open my mouth all the way to even bite into sandwiches.

    Questions: None

GTKY: Are you ready for fall or still holding on to the last bits of summer? I live for summer, we live in a beach town and it is my favorite time of year... but there will be some benefit of having the girls back to school (we start after labor day) as the end of summer has meant the end of all summer camps so its a long 3 weeks of constant togetherness and my husband and I both work from home, so the nanny keeps trying to entertain them outside of the house but its hot & the days are long, so they are ready for a change of pace!

    FTM/STM/TTM+: STM
    EDD / Weeks + Days: April 9/ 8w1d
Baby is the size of a: Weighs as much as a paperclip ?
    Team blue/pink/green: Green
Upcoming Appointments: 9/15 for first ultrasound and OB appt. Seems so far away!
How are you feeling?: Still no appetite. A little nausea here and there but nothing terrible. Super sensitive to smells though
Rants/Raves: My neighbor couldn't find a pet sitter so asked if I could let their dogs out a couple times a day for the next 3 weeks. Which is no problem except....their house smells sooo bad (like cat pee) and everytime I walk in I feel so sick
Questions: Is anyone else considering an unmedicated birth or non-hospital birth? I've been thinking about a birth center instead of hospital, bc my last experience was somewhat traumatic
GTKY: Are you ready for fall or still holding on to the last bits of summer? more than ready for fall!!! We don't have air conditioning so I'm way over summer. Also I just picked a bunch of apples from our tree and canned applesauce sooo I'm in a fall mood lol

    EDD / Weeks + Days: 4/11; 7w5d

Baby is the size of a: blueberry, apparently

Team blue/pink/green: undecided. DH wants to know. I'm on the fence. Just hoping for a healthy one.

Upcoming Appointments: ultrasound again this Friday. My RE has been monitoring me for the last 2 weeks. This will, hopefully, be the last one before we graduate to standard care.

How are you feeling?: nauseous most of the time, and super bloated today.

Rants/Raves: DH has been amazing at taking care of me and all the things while I'm feeling like crap.

    Questions: NATM

GTKY: Are you ready for fall or still holding on to the last bits of summer? Definitely ready for fall. It's been hot and humid the last couple of days, a reminder that summer is still hanging on, but I'm ready for that mugginess to be gone.

Baby is the size of a: iPhone app icon
    Team blue/pink/green: finding out
    Upcoming Appointments: ultrasound tomorrow!
How are you feeling?: utterly exhausted
Rants/Raves: We were traveling this weekend and I wish I took today off work as well. And we’re going to a concert which I’m really looking forward to but at the same time I just want to sleep.
    Questions: none
GTKY: Are you ready for fall or still holding on to the last bits of summer? Ready for fall! I love all of the fun fall family activities, cooler weather, and fall clothes.

@maggied26 I feel you on the bloat. By the end of the day I look soooo pregnant.

@MsBeachNJ we're appointment buddies! I hope you hear lots of good news tomorrow!

@nsk489 I had an unmedicated hospital birth with my son. I want to try to go unmedicated again but will have to do more planning this time. My sons labor went really quickly so I’m just hoping this one is fast too. I’m probably going to do a hypnobirthing class.
    nsk489ladyofarlington
  • @iiirene I also had an unmedicated hospital birth with my son...laboring was fine but the actual delivery and afterwards was quite traumatic for me! I definitely want to do it unmedicated again but just starting to think maybe I don't want to be in the hospital (or perhaps I will just utilize a different hospital). I do know that a home birth is NOT for me though 😅 some of the girls in my last group did hypnobirthing, I think I will have to look into that this time
  • @nsk489 definitely look into a birth center I have had a few friends have birth center births and they have loved it. Especially if you’re low risk. I’m so sorry that you had a traumatic experience.
  • @nsk489 if you're willing to say more about your birthing experience, I'd love to hear it. I would like to go unmedicated, possibly in a hospital because the only birthing center here is about 45 mins away, but I'm feeling all the unknowns and hoping to hear more from people who have gone through it. Are there things you wish you would have known prior to your first? What would you have changed?

  • @trubaby411 happy to share! My last group we had a thread where the moms shared their birth stories from their previous babies--it was helpful for me to read as a FTM! I believe we did that whenever we had switched over to a private bump group.

The spark notes version is: my midwife abandoned me in the 11th hour. She took some last minute vacation days before my due date (which is when I happened to go into labor) and then left the practice  before my 2 week follow up even rolled around. I ended up having the on-call doctor (one who comes down to help out 1x a month, not one of the other drs from my practice that I had met before).
I ended up pushing for over 5 hours. The dr had to go in and turn my son a couple times bc he kept shifting into a weird position. He was stuck in the birth canal for a while as well. Eventually the dr tried some additional interventions to help. She tried forceps first (do NOT agree to that if you go the unmedicated route. She had to stop pretty much immediately bc I could not handle that) then the vacuum. Neither was successful so she eventually did an episiotomy. All the while my room is filling up with people---my saline lock kept falling out throughout labor and the nurses kept trying to stick it back in 🙄 they were having trouble so eventually a team from the ER came in to assist, plus the pediatrician and nurses for the baby were there. I'd say at one point towards the end there were well over a dozen people in my room.
They allowed me to push for so long (despite throwing out the threat of a cesarean multiple times) only because my son wasn't in distress---all monitoring showed his heart rate was still good. Once he was born he did need help breathing so they whisked him away and left me in a dark room by myself for hours to "rest" 🙄🙄🙄 We ended up staying at the hospital for 5 more days due to jaundice and weight concerns

Things I would do differently: 1000% hire a doula this time. Bc my midwife (a provider I was comfortable with and trusted) wasn't there, the dr and nurses were complete strangers to me and I feel like I wasn't able to advocate for myself after so many hours. I ended up agreeing to interventions that I probably wouldn't have otherwise. Also I had trouble knowing/figuring out what position was best for me and ended up in the bed on my back--the typical position you see women give birth in, however it's usually not the best position (best for the doctor but not the birthing person). I feel like a doula would have been able to help me get into a better position, whereas the nurses definitely preferred me on the bed

EDD / Weeks + Days: April 12, 8 weeks today @maggied26 yay due date twins!

Baby is the size of a: raspberry

Team blue/pink/green: team healthy baby (we will find out the sex after NIPT testing)

Upcoming Appointments: I had my first U/S last week and my next appointment is at 10w2d for NIPT

How are you feeling?: pregnant 🤣

Rants/Raves: I am thrilled my BFF and I are pregnant at the same time! Other than my husband, her and her husband are the only people who know. She’s 3 weeks ahead of me and I so look forward to having our second babies the same season!

Questions: Anyone have a recommendation for either black pants or an A line or wrap dress that is work appropriate but won’t show a tiny bump? I have a work trip coming up in two weeks and I have one dress that will work but need another outfit for the second day. Unfortunately all of my old work pants are already too tight and most of my work dresses are a bit more form fitting. I don’t think I’m quite ready for maternity clothes though so this in between bit is tricky!

GTKY: Are you ready for fall or still holding on to the last bits of summer? I very much enjoyed the “fake fall” weather we had last week and these 90 degree humid days are killing me. Bring on fall!

@nsk489 what an awful experience! Hope this time around is much better!

    trubaby411acleverusername
  • @nsk489 thank you for sharing, and I can understand why all of that was traumatic! As a FTM, it really is helpful to hear others' birthing experiences, so I really appreciate you being willing to share. I hope this next one goes MUCH smoother for you!

  • @ladyofarlington how exciting to be due so close to your bestie! My best friend had a pregnancy scare (she already has 4 kids and doesn’t want another) and would have been due the exact same day as me. I’m not going to lie I was a little disappointed when her test was negative.

  •  *lurking from Group 1* This is a much more active group!

@MsBeachNJ I too have issues with waking up in the middle of the night and not being able to fall back asleep. I've given up and using Unisom. My work is pretty busy so I usually start thinking about work, so it's no bueno.
