Infertility

Endometriosis, birth control, lupron, FET

After 5 failed IUI’s, we started IVF, had an egg retrieval beginning of August 2022.

They retrieved 24 eggs, 14 mature, 3 fertilized and only 1 made it to blastocyst, now frozen, not going to do genetic testing test.

I haven’t gotten a lap to diagnose endo, but I’ve had a pelvic MRI that suspected Adenomyosis. My periods are painful to the point where I call in sick from work, even went to ER one time because of pain.

OBGYN said not to get a lap because of its risks, and because there were no signs like cysts, etc. that indicated a lap would help. Also, he said it’d push out my FET date with recovery.

So my RE suggested 3 options: birth control or lupron to suppress endo/adeno or go straight to FET.

Husband and I are thinking we’ve spent all this money, my body’s been through hell during stims/meds for egg retrieval. So we should go to lupron EVEN without that official diagnosis. To make sure everything’s optimal for implantation.

Thoughts??

  • @veeenn I would recommend getting a second opinion from another fertility specialist. Get copies of your medical records and bring it to the appointment to go over the pros and cons.

  • Given your painful symptoms and MRI findings, trying Lupron to suppress potential endometriosis before your FET seems prudent. It could optimize your chances for implantation, despite the lack of a laparoscopy diagnosis. Prioritize your comfort and the best possible outcome.
