Upcoming Appointments: first prenatal appt 9/7. I cancelled the group teams appt which was supposed to be tomorrow, it sounded useless.
How are you feeling?: well, I just peed myself while puking. Enough said.
Rants/Raves: rant: see previous answer.
Questions: not right now.
GTKY: What is your occupation? I’m a permit coordinator at a construction company. It’s really boring, but it pays the bills. My education and heart is in the arts, but I didn’t have enough guts to go that route for work.
@etnyah oof. That sounds like a really rough Monday. On top of it already being a Monday. 🫂
FTM/STM/TTM+: FTM
EDD / Weeks + Days: 04/03 / 8 weeks!
Baby is the size of a: NO
Team blue/pink/green: team will find out but won’t tell ppl so as to annoy them
Upcoming Appointments: Wed - weekly ultrasound; NIPT booked for 9/3.
How are you feeling?: Yesterday was a really rough day that started with vomiting, and just ended up with my staying in bed most of the day. Today was much better, but I was definitely fighting nausea most of the day. I started using Cardamon essential oil in a diffuser and it actually really helps.
Rants/Raves: Monday is over! It was a really heavy meeting day and with how I was feeling yesterday, I just didn’t know how it would go. Luckily I made it through all the meetings unscathed… just pooped.
Questions: Not really
GTKY: What is your occupation? I’m a Manager of Technical Program Management in Silicon Valley for an autonomous vehicles manufacturing company (vehicles + software). I love my job. I like to say that I’m working on the future of transportation. I still wonder how I ended up here.
How are you feeling?: Tired and nauseous and sore boobs. Also waaay more irritable…particularly with my husband
Rants/Raves: my dad brought some anti nausea candy and left it in my mailbox today which was really a really sweet gesture. We’re flying to Oregon Friday for my brothers wedding. It’s at a winery and should be a good time. I’m nervous to fly this time as it’s my sons first flight since potty training a month ago. Rants: I bought the family size box of Cinnamon Toast Crunch because I’m basically a child…and it’s already almost gone. You can buy approximately 1,000,000 cute dresses for toddler girls to wear to a wedding but finding something for a little boy is damn near impossible.
Questions: none
GTKY: What is your occupation?
I teach preschool at an intensive needs school. I’ve had a few really challenging years so I’m hoping this one is better. We’re a week in and I’m exhausted already but at least I’ve got a great teaching team.
Upcoming Appointments: First appointment is on Monday 8/29. Will have an ultrasound, praying all looks great!
How are you feeling?: I was super light headed and nauseous last week, this week I'm just really tired & very sensitive to smells.
Rants/Raves: Rave! We've been waiting 2+ months for our new patio doors to come in and they are being installed today! We're having the doors off our upper & lower decks replaced and I'm super excited for the upgrade! (the lame things we get excited about as adults huh?)
Questions: Why does time seem to stop in advance of ultrasounds?! Just want the date to get here already so I can ensure everything is on track.
GTKY: What is your occupation? I work as an HR Business Partner for a FinTech startup. I work completely from home which is awesome, but it is a very demanding and stressful job - I do love it though!
Upcoming Appointments: first appointment is tomorrow, haven't had any labs or scans or anything so it's been a very long 4 weeks waiting for this appointment. With my first they just did a quick scan to get a more accurate date and check the heartbeat so I'm hoping the do the same this time.
How are you feeling?: pretty nauseous, basically no appetite (which doesn't help the nausea) still tired a lot but not as bad as it was, lots of anxiety
Rants/Raves: I just wish it was tomorrow already
Questions: natm
GTKY: What is your occupation? I am a certified medical coder and biller, I own a medical billing company. We're still growing, only been in business a little over a year. I'm fortunate I get to work from home so I can also take care of my 2 year old but it can definitely be a stressful job sometimes
To wit, my husband locked me out while I was out getting blood tests. I was amazingly not as pissed off as I expected after he let me in 15 min later (he was in the shower + bathing my dog.)
@MsBeachNJ I also work from home! It's not as "great" as ppl imagine, cause you're basically always at work. During Covid, one of my managers uttered a great comment which I like to share: "When you work from home, you live at work." It's 100% true. For me it manifests in waking up in the middle of the night and immediately defaulting to thinking about things going on at work. What about you?
@maggiedm medical coding and billing... wow... I'd like to pick your brain on that. Haha.
@acleverusername - I have to admit it was really hard for me to separate work & home for the first 6 months or so of this job (I had a different job for the majority of Covid, also WFH for most of the height of the pandemic but very different stress levels then!) I started this job last summer, and because its a startup & was in hypergrowth mode, I felt like I could NEVER shut off, I was waking up all hours of the day & night stressing about work, logging on every night, etc. around the 7 month mark I got a glowing review and my boss literally forced me to take some PTO, she said if I kept working like this I'd burn out, soooo I listened, and have tried to be more mindful of separation of work & home, but it is hard! I'm often online until at least 7pm and my girls go to bed at that time, so its a balance for sure!
How are you feeling?: pregnancy wise, ick. Queezy and tired. Recovery from covid sucks, I still have a lingering cough that will probably give me a hernia.
Rants/Raves: I hate that I'm currently in pregnancy limbo, all tests have been good so I have to wait for another week before any new news, good or bad.
Questions: none
GTKY: What is your occupation? I was a civil engineer for a decade then I quit and started my own dog walking business. It isn't much, but it keep me busy and I get to see my son on the bus and my husband between clients.
@acleverusername so true about working from home. Sometimes it's so hard to turn it off because its always right there. For the first year, I basically worked 7 days a week, 10 to 12 hours a day. I'd work a normal full day, stop at 4:30 to hang out with my family and by 930 pm sit down and work sometimes until 2am. I finally was like I can't do this anymore and then I got pregnant and the exhaustion has basically forced me to stop working all day long lol. I'm trying to be more mindful of leaving my weekends for family time and only working if I'm crazy behind
@returning_bump_member I feel like pregnancy limbo lasts until I can feel the baby move.
@acleverusername I keep being in awe of your desire/ability to know the baby’s sex and not tell anyone. I would give it away immediately. I am the worlds worst secret keeper when it comes to my own secrets.
Upcoming Appointments: phone chat next week then ultrasound on the 22nd
How are you feeling?: I felt SO tired and starving and cranky last week but energetic yesterday and today? A bit confused. Still massive back pain and the gaaasssss is ridiculous. Waking up to pee every 2 hours.
Rants/Raves: This is silly but, I can’t wait to have weird cravings
Questions: Anyone else having symptoms come and go?
GTKY: What is your occupation? I’m an email marketer at a women’s health startup.
knottie, symptoms coming and going is super normal early on! When I first started feeling nauseous it would be a couple days of it, then a few days of feeling fine, then back again. It’s nerve wracking but pretty common.
FTM/STM/TTM+: STM EDD / Weeks + Days: 4/9, 7w2d Baby is the size of a: altoid
Team blue/pink/green: Green 💚
Upcoming Appointments: Had my 1st appointment today, now nothing until 9/15 😫
How are you feeling?: Tired and still no appetite
Rants/Raves: Kinda rant....I had my first appointment today, which is just with the care coordinator. Pee in a cup, take some blood, yadda yadda. I thought they would schedule me for an ultrasound next week (8 weeks, which is how things happened last pregnancy) but I'm not scheduled until mid-Sept when I'll already be 10.5 weeks 😫 it just seems sooo long to wait to see/hear the heartbeat for the first time and make sure everything is ok! Rave though is that this go around covid precautions are more relaxed and my husband can actually attend appointments with me 🥳
Questions: Natm
GTKY: What is your occupation? SAHM/hobby farmer 🤪 pre-covid and pre-baby I worked for a mental health company. I started off working as a behavioral therapist doing in-home therapy with kids with ASD or behavioral disorders, then moved into an HR/staffing role at the same company. Loved my job but the burnout was real and I'm happier now not working
Baby is the size of a: sweet pea? I though that was a flower, lol
Team blue/pink/green: Green?
Upcoming Appointments: Monday, bloodwork and ultrasound. It's comforting to have them weekly for a bit.
How are you feeling?: All over the place! Sometimes exhausted, cramps, and nauseated, other times like nothing, it must all be in my head.
Rants/Raves: I got my teaching schedule, and I have Algebra classes 1st and 9th period. My school has continuous attendance problems, so OBVIOUSLY 1st and last period math classes are not a good idea. We struggle to get kids to come to class and pass Algebra (required for graduation, the first exam they take that has consequences for failing), so you'd think we'd put a little more planning in. But no, so my year is going to be less teaching, more attendance nagging.
Questions: When do I have to stop sleeping on my back? I was a 100% side sleeper until about a year ago, so I never needed to know.
GTKY: What is your occupation? High school math teacher, mostly gen ed Algebra, but this year I have some classes for ENL students, those learning English. Ironically, it's because the current ENL Algebra teacher is having a baby and taking 6 months leave. So she'll be back right before I should go out. I can't wait to tell my supervisor and see his head explode.
@MsBeachNJ there were only 2 team green mamas (including myself) in my May 21 group! My husband wasn't on board at first lol but we both loved it. I loved how annoyed people were that we didn't know gender 🤣 and the feeling/emotions when my husband helped deliver our baby and announced it was a boy was unbelievable!
@nsk489 I know everyone gets so up in arms about "how can you plan without knowing?!" Idk, I just plan for a baby!! And the moments that my husband told me what it was with our first two (both girls!) and having video of him going into the waiting room to tell our extended family all waiting & seeing their reactions, are some of the VERY best moments of my life - it makes it all that much more exciting!!
@nsk489 & @MsBeachNJ The reason why we're "team green to the world" is exactly because of this: "I loved how annoyed people were that we didn't know gender." & "I know everyone gets so up in arms about 'how can you plan without knowing?!' Idk, I just plan for a baby!" And @iiirene I know I will get more pleasure from making others annoyed than from blurting it out. But, I also reserve the right to change my mind.
How are you feeling?: I’m having nausea on and off. Thankfully no vomiting. I’m tried most of the time. Have insomnia, sore nipples, on and off again cramping.
Rants/Raves: I wish I could tell our families but my husband is against it. I know he wants to wait until first appt which is in a month, but I’m so excited because this was so unexpected and can’t wait to see our families reactions. We were not trying and thought we were done after the 2 we have, but someone had other plans and here we are and I couldn’t be more thrilled as secretly I always wanted 1 more. No I did not plan this.
Questions: none
GTKY: What is your occupation? I was in the medical field until the end of 2021. We decided to move far away and I’m unable to find childcare for my youngest and have been a stay at home mom ever since. I have actually really enjoyed it. I’m also currently finishing up classes to get into nursing school. I will hold off until after baby comes.
@daniellejack89 the general exhaustion + insomnia is so unfair! And childcare is soo hard to find. It’s frustrating. I’m glad you’re enjoying staying home with your child
