“Morning” sickness..

I am 8 weeks pregnant and I have never felt this way in my entire life. This is my first pregnancy and I feel like I’m constantly about to puke but I can’t. Please send me all and any remedies that has helped you in the past!

Thankful for this group :)

Re: “Morning” sickness..

  • Hello, Iam feeling the same way náuseas 24/7. Talk to your OB to get you some prescribed medicine. Iam trying the second medicine 🙃hoping it works this time. Yo are not alone, I hear you, it’s so uncomfortable. Best wishes.
  • Lemon water has helped me! It doesn’t completely get rid of the nausea, but I drink it when I feel the most sick and it helps ease the symptoms.

  • Ugh, my nausea finally started subsiding right around 20 weeks. So miserable! Nothing made it go away, but the most reliable things that helped me were lime sparkling water and wintergreen lifesavers. When it felt overwhelming, i could pop a mint and that would take the edge off. Sometimes apple juice or saltine crackers helped me, plain potato chips sometimes settled my stomach, and baked potatoes were reliably okay. I could only drink things that were ice cold.

Vitamin B6 is supposed to help (but the dose is small, I had to get it off Amazon because that low dose isn't sold in stores), some people find SeaBands help. Eat something small every 2 hours so your stomach doesn't get empty- my OB recommended bland, midwife said fat and protein (nuts are good, cheese, meat). And rest! The nausea was always less after a nap. Good luck!
  • That’s helpful. Thank you!
  • Hi all, I’m 9w1d and I’m nauseous, vomiting and dizzy all day everyday since 5 weeks. It’s so depressing, I used to enjoy walking and going to the gym but now I can barely leave the house. I’m constantly googling “when does ms end” and re-reading the same posts! I’ve tried maxolon, doxylamine and even gaviscon as wasn’t sure whether it’s morning sickness or acid reflux but nothing is working. I’m too scared to try ondanestron so I’m basically just going through it all taking it a day at a time but the thought of 7 more months is frightening!! Doctors can’t do anything except prescribe meds. My vomiting and retching is worst after 3pm and constant until I fall asleep so I don’t actually know if I’m retaining any nutrients or enough water and whether I should be in hospital! Anyway I feel for you all, I hope your journey gets a lot easier!
  • I’ve had all day queasiness since the end of week 5, and some puking. Mine is typically at its worst after I wake up. Can’t believe it’s only been 2 weeks of this and likely to last at least another month. Crackers sometimes help, but then I think after the fact they make it worse cause the bloating gets so bad. I’ve been able to do my job mostly normally, and honestly the distraction helps. And it helps pass the time. There are times I take bathroom breaks and wish I could just throw up though, which is miserable.
But I think I’d go nuts if I wasn’t forced to get out of the house, cause on my days off I can barely make myself do anything and then my brain isn’t happy. I keep having to remind myself this is temporary.
  • I am the same way…

I have had severe morning sickness. Some of the things that have helped me are:

    • Mac and Cheese
    • Saltine crackers or ritz crackers
    • Mint chocolate chip ice cream (the cold and mint really help)
    • Cold applesauce
    • chewing Extra mint gum
    • Sucking on lollipops ALL THE TIME (I have a giant bag of dum-dums)
    • A COLD Pepsi from AMPM (88 cents!) my doc actually recommended this to me, you can get syrup of coke at the pharmacy to help with nausea so a Coke or Pepsi can really help.

Listen to your body, if it sounds good, try it and see if it helps!
  • Are you sure coke and Pepsi do not get your caffeine intake higher than recommended maximum?

Depends on how much you drink. But there’s really not a lot in a can. I remember checking it specifically for that reason so I allowed myself to have.it when I wanted it.
  • A 12 oz coke/Pepsi has 38 mg of caffeine, so definitely under the recommended amount

I agree with most of this! Even, oddly, the mac and cheese (or even cheese singles) we're okay for my tummy. Applesauce didn't particularly help me (cold apple juice sometimes did, though), and instead of gum I have Lifesavers. I have caffeine free diet coke now that I'm past the nausea stage, but that only occasionally helped me before. But COLD was definitely key!
  • @firsttimer323 Just a heads-up about drinking caffeine.  I was also drinking a coke during my first and second trimester to calm down the nausea.  I drank one before our anatomy scan and they saw a heart arrhythmia.  After being sent to a specialist and weeks of worry, they think it was due to the caffeine.  There wasn't actually anything wrong with my son, but the caffeine made his heart look like it was beating abnormally.  Once I stopped drinking it, they never saw the issue again.

I am hoping this message is received in the light it is intended.  It is a not a criticism of your choices as I also suffered from severe morning sickness.  I know how miserable that feels and how that coke or Pepsi can be a lifeline to feeling even remotely human.  I don't think you should stop drinking a coke, but just wanted to advise about maybe not drinking one before any ultrasounds. Hoping to save you the stress, money, and time of my experience.  Fingers crossed you feel better soon!

  • It’s miserable. I’m on the Diclegis (B6 and unisom) and have been prescribed zofran as needed. I probably take two zofran per day when it is at its worst to try to make it through work. And with two other young children at home, I’m at a loss. And given my mental and physical state it is something I’ve come to terms with and am ok with it for now. It still only takes the edge off. I literally eat constantly and protein seems to keep me most level (even though it is all hard to get down). Just praying I’ll feel better around 15 weeks (like I did with the first two). So sorry mamas. And thankful to know we’re in this together and doing the best we can.
  • I'm 8ish weeks too (w #2). Eat whatever sounds good, but would suggest keeping it bland.  Crackers, and bagels are my go-to's. Ginger ale, sprite, or Fresca are also great.
You may also want to try the unisom (at night) and b6 combo. I like the preggie pops w b6 personally.  Also don't go too long without food/drink. That can make you feel even worse. Hang in there, it'll get better eventually!
  • I just hit 8 weeks today and the "morning" sickness hasn't stopped since it started 4 days ago.  The sensitivity to smells is unreal, I stay upstairs or outside bc once I am downstairs and smell the animals, food, and whatever else lol it's instant 🤢
Trying to stay positive but my husband says I'm torturing myself (he cray haha I would do without this part if i could!)...I love reading these suggestions, thankful I found this app 🙏

My doctor hasn't gotten back to me yet about a prescription for the nausea. I got OTC b6, and noticed someone said to take a low dose.  Is there too high of a dose?  Thank you!

  • I’m 14 weeks tomorrow and still struggling with nausea/vomiting. Yesterday I had a great day with practically no nausea and then this morning I threw up :( For any moms who had their nausea subside, was it all in one day or was it a mix or good and bad days before the good days just took over? (First time mom here!)
  • I’m 8 weeks pregnant with my first and I feel like my nausea just keeps getting worse. I try to have crackers and water to help but sometimes the idea of the crackers makes the nausea worse. I keep trying to find foods that sound good and I can keep down but sometimes even a bite of food makes me feel like I’m going to barf. I haven’t barfed yet but it feels like everything will come up any time. Any tips?
