Upcoming Appointments: This Thursday check up, AS 8/30
How are you feeling?: Great! I’ve really buckled down and focused on healthier eating (partially because I need to, mostly because it’s what I crave!). I’ve just started exercising again for the first time since pre-pregnancy. Taking baby steps but making sure I’m moving somehow.
Rants/Raves: I don’t think I have any this week! I’m really trying to stay focused on feeling good and channeling my energy into the projects around the house that need done before baby boy arrives. Ride the joy when it’s there.
Questions: Can’t think of any!
GTKY: What is your proudest accomplishment? I honestly think getting to this point in my life with pregnancy is what I’m most proud of. I grew up in an abusive and very poor home, and I swore for years and years I would never have children. I was too afraid of repeating cycles of trauma and poverty. It took a lot of work to get to a place where I can choose what I want to do and be without letting the past decide for me (shoutout to cbt, you the real mvp). I’m very proud of where I’ve gotten mentally, emotionally & financially, and I’m cautiously optimistic that I have the tools and resources (and of course! the desire) to raise my son with the love and care he deserves.
How are you feeling?: starting to finally feel better largely likely due to my husband taking over nights 100% for our very wakeful toddler for a full week, allowing me to finally rest, but I’m rejoicing in it!
Rants/Raves: baby room is coming along! Finally cleared out and cleaned! DH just has to fix the closet door and move the crib in and it’s really all set to go! (Decor to follow once we know gender!)
Questions: anyone else going from 1->2 kids slightly terrified lmao like my toddler is SOOOOO BUSY I just have no idea how a newborn is gonna fit into the chaos that is life already lol
GTKY: What is your proudest accomplishment? Definitely where I am at in life. By 26 I’ll have 2 kids, been married for 3 years to my wonderful husband who I’ve been with for 10 years!, working in my absolute DREAM job, living in a beautiful house with two new vehicles, financially secure … I just feel like I’ve made it. Now I def need to work on the self care aspects of things a little more but hey acknowledging is step one right?
@thankfullyamama I'm going from 1 to 2, and I'm really hoping that the older will be into helping and listening (hahahahaha). Hoping a newborn being potato-like and not having strong and vocal opinions will go with the flow for a while.
Rants/Raves: So excited my IFs will be coming to town tomorrow. We see all going out for dinner, and then Wednesday they will come to the anatomy scan!
GTKY: Right now, I’d probably say becoming a surrogate. It was an intense interview process, sending health records, interviews, psych evaluation, and physical evaluation. And then I had to do IVF (twice, bc the first transfer ended in a blighted ovum). All to grow a baby that I will hand over to someone else!
Upcoming Appointments: midwife check up and group session Thursday
How are you feeling?: Much more at ease after seeing baby girl for the AS yesterday! I’ve only gained two pounds so far and had been worried but she’s right on track with her weight and measurements
Rants/Raves: I’m unjustifiably annoyed at the heat we’re experiencing right now even though it’s typical weather for August in San Diego!
Questions: none today.
GTKY: What is your proudest accomplishment? Moving cross-country at 23 (NY-CA). It was a leap of faith and the best decision I could have made for myself. I’m celebrating 9 years in San Diego this month and everything I’ve accomplished since has confirmed this decision for me. Even better, my parents and sister moved here last year so we’re all together again just in time for a new addition to our family.
Baby is the size of a(n): CD (where do they come up with this stuff lol)
Team blue/pink/green: blue
Upcoming Appointments: Aug 25 midwife
How are you feeling?: sore with headaches, it’s also been so hot here even going for a small walk is hard
Rants/Raves: I got a raise and a bonus at work last week so really excited to have some extra money to save for my maternity leave!
Questions: Anyone have any tips on how to survive a road trip? Driving to NYC which is 8 hours approx from me in early sept and not sure what to take with me to make things comfortable.
GTKY: What is your proudest accomplishment? Finishing my post-grad while working full time. Lots of weekends were lost but happy it’s done!
@cc_clark Reading your GTKY was so inspiring. Good for you on breaking the cycle, your son is so lucky to have you.
@anniez85 I'm in the middle of a long road trip right now! I think we picked the sweet spot (aka second tri) which is the best time. I would suggest taking frequent stops. If you stay well hydrated, you should need to pee every couple hours anyway. Otherwise, I haven't had any major complains! Hope you have fun (;
@thankfullyamama My DD was 4yo when we brought home DS, so not exactly a toddler. I just assuming having a toddler and a newborn is basically going to be a sh*tshow for a while, until everybody adjusts. My small suggestion is just to try to give your older kiddo as much 1-on-1 as you can to reassure him you're not "replacing" him. (Easier said than done)
EDD / Weeks + Days: 1/14, 17+

Baby is the size of a(n): Hershey Bar
Team blue/pink/green: Green
Upcoming Appointments: AS on Sept 1
How are you feeling?: Good! We are on a road trip and camping adventure. I have no (pregnancy related 😆) complaints. I also believe I started feeling pretty regular movement.
Rants/Raves: Well so far our trip has not totally gone to plan. We had a flat tire and a flooded tent but I guess it's all part of the adventure? Tonight we kick off 3 more nights of camping and I really hope I have the stamina! Wish me luck?
Questions: NATM!
GTKY: What is your proudest accomplishment? I'm pretty proud of myself for getting the job I have currently. It took so much hard work in HS, college, and grad school. But now I get to say I have my dream job! (At least for now).
Upcoming Appointments: ultrasound and labs on 8/24
How are you feeling?: Physically fine, like I’m not even pregnant (except I’ve gained 4 pounds suddenly, after plateauing at the first 4 pounds when I got pregnant up until this week). Mentally, still struggling. Angry all the time. Making zero effort to spare the feelings of anyone who asks me how pregnancy is going (which results in a lot of me being blunt and them giving me blank, awkward stares).
Rants/Raves: I need to rave about a few girlfriends of mine whom I wasn’t extremely close to. I announced the pregnancy on social media this week and so many girls I haven’t talked to since grad school reached out so we could vent and commiserate about how much they - and I - hate pregnancy. It was such a huge relief, and I’m so grateful to know other women who are willing to share their truths. Especially when those truths don’t look like picture perfect baby books with glowing pages. It just felt good to vent.
Questions: Has anyone found a good remedy for water retention? Because this winter girl is DYING of swelling in the abnormally hot and sticky summer weather we’re having in NH!
GTKY: What is your proudest accomplishment? Estranging myself from my toxic family. It isn’t always easy, but it’s the healthiest thing I’ve ever done. More than my degrees, more than my career, or any other thing that’s given me pride in the past, taking charge of my emotional health has been the most profound thing. I think that’s why pregnancy has been so difficult - the hormones seriously threaten all the progress I’d made, and it’s freaking horrific.
How are you feeling?: Good! Only complaint is low back pain. Chiropractor appmt is next week but may have to start going more than once a month.
Rants/Raves: Quit my job this week after I got offered a position closer to home that pays more. I turned in my two weeks and my boss said I could either float to different schools which are an hour from my house for the two weeks or quit immediately. I quit but I’m really mad because they won’t give me my PTO days.
On a better note I felt a strong kick over the weekend. I looked down at my belly after he did it and he kicked super hard again and my belly moved. Was the coolest thing ❤️
Questions: Anyone else only feel flutters and kicks on one side of their lower abdomen? I’ve only felt it on the lower left side below my belly button and nothing in the middle or on the right.
GTKY: What is your proudest accomplishment?
Finally learning how to stand up for myself. It took a lot of therapy and personal growth but I don’t take crap from people anymore.
