Trying to Get Pregnant

Trying to figure out my body after miscarriage; please help!

Hello all. I'm 37 years old. No children. One miscarriage at 9 weeks in 2014. My partner and i decided to start trying February 19, 2022 (this year). We had a miscarriage at 4w5d on May 3rd, 2022. My next cycle (june) was the very normal 28 days but it was very heavy and painful with clotting. The next cycle (July) was 42 days and no detected ovulation and AF only lasted 3 days instead of the normal 5. This cycle (Aug) is very confusing. I began having ovulation symptoms only about a little more than a week after AF ended. So I began taking opk tests which were high. I had egcm at cd10 and opk still high for a few days but then it went back to low (i should mention I've never had a "peak" result on these things, but obviously I'm ovulating bc i got pregnant). My app (femometer) predicted ovulation day was July 29th but I was sticky cm with no response on opk test. Yesterday, cd 20 and today, cd 21, I'm having very high watery (borderline but not quite egg white) cm. I took another opk test this morning (bc my app said to watch out for ovulation which confused me) and it was a vvfl! I mean hardly there, but I could see it. What is happening? Am I ovulating twice? I know it takes some time for your body to regulate after miscarriage, so I'm trying to be patient. But I just want to get back to normal and I am trying to pay attention to my body so that I can know when I am back to normal so that I can can know when to start looking for pregnancy signs again. Ugh. Any advice and input is welcome! Be kind. Thank you! Big hugs.

We typically do not do one-off posts like this: in fact, we have an OPK Help Thread pinned to the top where questions like yours are best answered. I see that you're new here, so please read the Ultimate TTGP Thread Guide as well, and I encourage you to introduce yourself on the latest newbies thread.

We also have a weekly TTCAL thread, and I encourage you to check that out as well.

  • mattsty2022 I'm sorry for your losses.  It can definitely take time for your body to regulate after a MC (like, up to a YEAR of time), even a an early MC.  I highly recommend reading Taking Charge of Your Fertility and doing Basal Body Temping.  Your app can only tell you so much, and temping will allow you to know if you O'd, when you O'd, etc.  Also, you said you had a MC, but did you track your HCG down to 0?  If you did not, it's possible that you could have remaining tissue, and that could be triggering your OPKs.  If you did track it down to 0, you could just have had several surges this month.  Temping will help you.

I'd highly recommend the above, plus introduce yourself here: Newbie 07/28 — The Bump
Then definitely join into the dailies, especially the TTCAL threads; as we don't tend to start our own threads here....
