December 2022 Moms

Strollers/car seats

Hi everyone! I'm due December 22nd and trying go decide on a travel system. I want something that's easy to use (I'm 5'0) and not heavy.

Re: Strollers/car seats

  • Hi I got the Doona based on a few recommendations from other moms.  It's a 3 in 1 system that allows the baby to stay in place the whole time. It's more small, lightweight and compact so my partner will use that one while I'm going to use the baby trend expedition jogger 2 in 1 that offers more space for me (personal preference). The doona is a bit pricey but it's a 3 in 1 so I personally think it's worth it and if you leave it on your registry by the completion date then you'll get 15% off😊

  • Thank you for the insight!!
  • We have the Chicco viaro and the key fit 30. Budget friendly and light weight.
  • I’m trying with all my might to avoid spending  $$$ on Uppababy & Nuna so I can stay within budget  :s

So overwhelmed with all of these options but I am currently considering Chico Bravo Trio system..Still open to looking into others
  • I got the Chicco Bravo 3-in-1 Travel Trio as a baby shower gift. I haven't used it yet, but I like that I can have a base in each car, so I don't have to worry as much about transfers and whatnot
  • I was gifted an Uppababy Cruz and I loooooove it. Waiting for September to buy the Mesa V2
  • Oh was gifted the Evenflo pivot travel system. My tiny 12yo was able to carry it, clip it into the stroller and all of that. Granted with a baby inside it will be heavier. But it’s budget friendly and the buttons were easy to press to unlock it
  • I’m giving the couple that’s adopting that uppababy  vista
  • We went with the Nuna Trvl and their car seat, and feeling very fortunate that a friend gifted it to us. I like it because I can collapse it and open it with one hand and it's very lightweight. I also really like the brake system. You push down on it to release as well as break. The other kind we were looking at made you use your toe to push up to release.

Our friends use an UPPAbaby Vista and they love it.
  • I’d recommend any Graco or Chicco travel systems as the most tried-and-true and also most cost effective! I’m getting a Graco jogging stroller because I’ve always found them more maneuverable but the Graco one has a really easy one-handed folding system that is really simple to use when you’re small and your hands are full! Graco FastAction Fold Jogger Travel System is the one; includes stroller, compatible car seat, and base, all for under $350!
  • When my 3-year old was a baby, we used the Chicco Cortina CX Travel System. We loved the car seat but absolutely hated the stroller. It has a defect that made the wheels squeak no matter how much WD-40 we used and because we were juggling a newborn and work, we never had time to call and do anything about it.  It was also so heavy and clunky to carry up and down stairs (we lived in a second floor apartment at the time).

We switched to a Summer Infant 3DLite+ umbrella stroller as soon as we could and still use it to this day! We absolutely love that umbrella stroller.

This time around, we're going to use the Chicco car seat, but I want to get a stroller that will be more pleasant to use. I'm thinking of getting the
Baby Jogger City Mini GT2 All-Terrain stroller this time with an adapter so that our car seat fits (didn't realize this was possible when I was a FTM). The stroller is definitely a splurge, but we do daily 1-hour walks every day with our older kiddo (gotta love California weather), and there's not much to buy this second time around.
  • We got the Uppababy Cruz (one and done fam over here haha) and are going to get the Uppababy mesa v2 now that it’s out
  • We have loved the Chico Key Fit 30 for the car seat. We got a handme down baby jogger select from my sister in law and got the car seat insert for it. If I had to do it again I would go with the baby jogger city mini and the insert as it’s more compact. We bot the Chico lite stroller for traveling and love it (have to be able to sit up on their own to use it so around 6 months).
