High HCG no fetal pole?

Hi— I had some light spotting at what I thought was 6 weeks, 5days and went to urgent care.  They did an transvaginal ultrasound and found a gestational sac and yolk sac measuring 6 weeks 1 day.  They took my HCG and it was 42,000, I went back in 2 days later and it was 72,000 (so rising appropriately).  The doctor ordered a follow up ultrasound and said the first US was probably just too early… but I got COVID so I can’t go back yet.  However, meanwhile I did a bunch of googling and it seems they definitely should have seen a fetal pole and heartbeat at an HCG of 42,000, so I’m not feeling hopeful.  Anyone have experiences to share?
