Re: Randoms w/o June 20

  • After working 12-hour shifts this weekend, I really wanted a day to chill by myself at home on a day off. Instead my toddler woke coughing and runny nose, so now I have to hang out with his sickness 😒 I have some home Covid tests so I did one on him quick, it was negative. But still didn’t want to send him to preschool sick.
  • There is a sneak peek thread. I took at 8 weeks but googled women who said they ended up with opposite gender so I'm waiting for a 15 week ultrasound to confirm it
  • @jennifer_louise I think a gender announcement thread is totally appropriate at this point!
  • I happened to come across a gal on TikTok who is sober, so she does fun mocktails. I’m all about the fruity and fun cocktails in summer, so I’ve been having fun making some of them! Did you know who can also buy zero-proof alcohol alternatives that still taste like the real deal?
  • I’m so looking forward to the part where I can workout on my lunch break at work like normal! I literally can not make it through the day without a nap lol and with this and my awful food aversions and basic ability to only eat carbs im starting to feel awful lol
  • @daffodil_shoe I’ve heard about those and was just thinking about buying some for the summer. I had a zero-proof cocktail at a restaurant this past weekend and it was delicious!
  • Bedbugs. Yuck. That’s all.

i can do a lot, but I am literally wanting to wash myself in bleach now
  • Oh ugh @footdrbritt you have my deepest sympathies.

@daffodil_shoe definitely share recipes if you try some!
  • @footdrbritt we had a BB outbreak on my unit in hospital when Covid first hit and all the nurses were DEF more afraid of the BB than Covid lmao
  • @tryingktogku SAME I will take COVID any day of the week. I’ve had a leprosy case, I’ll take that again….bedbugs are a hard no. I literally stripped in the foyer and walked into the shower
  • My daughter was sitting on my lap today and grabbed my stomach and said, totally matter of fact, "Mommy, you have a baby in here". And here I thought I was still hiding it well 🙄

We haven't told her yet (and are waiting until after the NT) so I just was shocked and MH cut in - "We'll, she did have a breakfast burrito today, maybe it's just food in there!". She was definitely unconvinced.
  • How old is your daughter?
  • @knottie She's 5, almost 6. Waaaaay too smart for me to try to keep this from her 😆.

BTW- have you tried to change your name yet? It will be easier to get to know you if we can identify/tag you.
  • @jennifer_louise my son keeps telling me there is a baby in my tummy. He is 2 and we haven't told him anything! They can sense it I swear. Kinda creepy though
  • @jennifer_louise @littlekck my 18mo was doing the like headstand thing as soon as as I was pregnant (like before I even knew) old wives tale that they do it when you’re pregnant!

  • @anniez85 I feel like that might be one of the product spotlights?! @zamoraspin has kindly been starting those threads so maybe she can add that one to the list if it's not there already!

@tryingktogku okay that is definitely one I have not heard before! So adorable.

@littlekck Meanwhile, my son (who is almost 2) seems totally clueless! He's definitely been much more of a mommy's boy lately so maybe he does sense a little something.
  • @cbhclark that is so amazing of your mil :)

I have my first appt tomorrow with a midwife group at a birthing center, I’m a bit nervous… the whole family is coming along… my 4 yo dd is so excited she keeps asking when she gets to see a picture of the baby. We have had such a busy week and my house shows it. I started a decluttering project and everything is everywhere, I really need to make some progress on putting stuff back where it belongs tomorrow but I honestly don’t know when I will fit it in. We do our morning workout/playgroup and then we have the appt in the afternoon and then the kids have their karate belt promotion.
  • @cbhclark I don't think there's such thing as "off topic" for the randoms thread. 😁 Your MIL sounds adorable.

  • Ugh the mom guilt is real today.  So on Wed we were notified there was a child who tested positive for COVID in my daughter's preschool class.  The child was last in class on Monday, so my daughter was there Mon & Tues, but not Wed.  Then she went back yesterday and her teacher was out.  I took her back today and multiple teachers are out and there is apparently an outbreak.  Now I feel guilty because I took her there today (I didn't know about the outbreak until after I took her and she was super excited about water day).  All the ones who test positive are obviously not there, but now I'm all worried because she has already been exposed at this point because of being there earlier this week and then also worried about me getting it.  We have all gotten it before last year and everything.  I am so tired of it all.  Just go away already.
  • @sparklingdiamond you can’t avoid it 🤍
  • Is anyone else getting annoyed by all the Peggy’s (aka knotties) making all the one off threads and clogging up the board lol. I only use the app and it makes finding the active chats harder. And really irks my ocd lol like we have a thread that literally says board organization like read it first plz!
  • We told my FIL last night and he was very excited and even teared up. BUT then immediately went into how if we have a boy “it’ll be easier since boys are so much easier to raise than girls.” Mind you, he raised 3 boys and has no experience raising girls. He followed up with the example of his new wife who had two daughters and “only had trouble”. It took everything in me to not blurt out that that says a lot more about her parenting than it says about girls!

I have a huge issue with these kinds of comments, especially when I hear it from a man saying it in the presence of a woman. Sigh. End rant. Thanks for listening. 💜
  • @tryingktogku yes definitely. I didn’t even attempt to be nice when that one rando was looking for other “40+” moms. Like LITERALLY next to it is the geriatric pregnancy thread.

I guess the reason it annoys me is because it’s the equivalent of walking into a room, not bothering to read the room, and just yelling “everyone listen to me!”
  • @daffodil_shoe exactly! I know like obviously if you’re just joining it takes a while to figure things out but it’s also not hard to look around first lol
  • @daffodil_shoe yep, today SUCKS 🤬🤬🤬
  • We all knew it was coming but it doesn't make it any easier. I'm also scared to see what rights are next on the chopping block.
  • @jennifer_louise agreed. The precedent is scary where they can go next, or where they’re planning (contraception!!!)
  • Since we told people that we are “tentatively” having another boy we’ve been bombarded with name suggestions and ITS SO ANNOYING like no one other than my husband and I will have a say in naming our unborn child l
  • @tryingktogku how did you find out the gender? Nipt? I did sneak peak but a male nurse took the blood so people are telling me it could be wrong when it says boy? Now I'm nervous
  • @knottiea2f06a02d7f6876c  try and change your username so we can know who you are :) and I used sneak peak lol that’s why I said tentatively!
