Back story: I went for an IUI 12 days ago, my progesterone 7 days after the IUI was excellent. I have my blood test scheduled in 2 days. I thought just for the fun of it, let me take a pregnancy test. I wanted to have "that moment", you know? I've been trying for 2 years, and I've become so used to seeing a negative result. So, I took a test on 11 DPO and at first saw nothing, but then a faint line began to show. I assumed it was an evap line but as time passed it started getting bluer in color. I read that blue test can be inaccurate. I took another test this morning first thing and the same thing happened, except this line is a little darker (both test are from the same store brand 2 pack). This morning I decided to go to the store and buy a FRER pink dye test, and I got a negative result. No line at all. I'm saving the digital test for 13 DPO.
The tests may've just been too early to give an accurate result. Personally, I initially did one of the early response tests 10 days after ovulation and it was negative and then a few days later I got a positive. Hopefully you get the results from your blood test soon! I know this must be a stressful time for you and wishing you the best.
Oh, and to answer your question, yes, pregnancy tests should only be read within a certain time period because of the evap line issue. It's best to follow the instructions on the box and not read it after the time range stated on the box. Also, I much prefer the digital test because they're easier to read 😂
Did you take a trigger shot for your IUI? Sadly, that can lead to a false positive (experienced this myself). FRER is your best bet for early pregnancy testing - those blue dye tests tend to have evap lines as well.
Re: False Positive, Evap line, or am I actually pregnant???
