How to Bond with Baby During Pregnancy

Any tips on how to bond with baby during pregnancy? I’m almost 14 weeks and have honestly spent my pregnancy so far being so nervous. It’s soooo hard to be joyful after experiencing a pregnancy loss and I’m just wondering how others are coping and how they like to enjoy their pregnancy.

When I had my first it never seemed real to me until I could feel her move. I’ve had 2 losses since then, am now 14 wks as well. I guess I’m not feeling particularly close yet as anxiety tends to be the dominant feeling. I’m hoping once I can feel the baby move it will reduce the anxiety and I can start to truly be excited for this baby
  • I’m the same way. It doesn’t feel real yet, I think I have to feel baby move first (I’m 13 weeks). Still, I have been reading to baby a few times a week. At least in the moment, I feel like I’m bonding with my little one.

  • I started talking to my baby, sometimes just in my head. It's mostly narrating what I'm doing, like "let's get the kitchen cleaned up so we can cook dinner" or "what do you feel like eating this week?" when I'm at the store. I feel like I'm bonding with them even just a little bit.
  • With my first I would talk to him the same way I do now that he’s a toddler 😊 I pat my belly a lot and I’d like to think this new one likes it lol
  • I love this question!  I'm 13 weeks and 3 days with my first and it still doesn't feel fully real.   It's hard to believe there's a fetus there bc I can't feel them or have any direct experience of them.  I'm still a little nervous that I'll lose them even though I'm so close to the second trimester and so emotionally part of me is still just trying to trust that this pregnancy is going to lead to a child.  I've been keeping a journal since I first found out I was pregnant where I write to them every couple of weeks.  I don't know if I'll ever actually share the journal with them but it's nice to be starting a conversion with them.  It's hard not knowing if they're ok.  I'm looking forward to when I can start feeling them.
