Re: June Symptoms

  • Heart. Burn.
  • Loading the player...
  • @EmilyE13 I had wicked heartburn my entire pregnancy with DS and lived on tums. It's only just starting to really pick up with this little one but it's also coinciding with my craving things like doritos so... not really doing myself any favors 😅
  • @krthouse I had terrible heartburn all pregnancy with both girls, too, and though I had lucked out on this one since it was comparatively intermittent and mild. This week has been terrible, though. Everything seems to trigger it.
  • I'm already waddling. My uterus has already crushed my poor bladder so I feel like I have to pee 24/7. Honestly thinking it might be a YI causing my issues but the nurse insisted it was likely the weight of my uterus. I've never had an issue with bladder crushing this early but I do have a long long history of chronic YI (thanks genetics) and I can't treat them properly while pregnant.
  • I'm in week 21 and still so nauseous. 😭 I also feel like a whale even though I've only gained 1 pound so far. My belly is huge and very firm, I'm a little concerned at how much more I assume I'll probably grow. I tried to make myself feel pretty and bought a nice dress for my baby shower coming up in a couple weeks, hopefully I can wear it a few times before my tummy outgrows it. 😂

Yesterday I got hit with sciatica pain out of nowhere. Quite literally knocked me out of commission. I've been keeping up on walking/stretches trying to get ahead of it, but apparently just existing can aggravate it. When I asked my mom if she ever had it bad she said "oh, yeah, but isn't it too early for that?" Apparently not, since I've been laying on a heating pad all day.

I also feel like a blimp and cannot imagine how I'm supposed to gestate this tiny human for another however many weeks.
  • I look forward to summer vacation so much since my body's rhythm is more broken some nights than others. I wouldn't call it insomnia, just... some nights, I'll wake up and want to clean the shower at 2:30am, and I will not be able to sleep until I accomplish something.

My body's rhythm is greatly impeded by having to work. That's my biggest symptom right now. I want to follow my instincts and urges and then go back to bed/take a nap.
  • My feet are starting to struggle with the long shifts at work. I got some cushy insoles that help a bit, but I need to figure out how to release the tension when I get home. I'm usually too tired or it's too close to DS's bedtime for me to soak them in the tub with Epsom salts, which is what I'd do in my first pregnancy.
  • @krthouse I like to use one of those myofascial trigger point release balls (like the size of a tennis ball, but hard and bumpy…a lacrosse ball would also work) and roll it around under my foot at my desk at work or when I’m relaxing at home. I got the ball for my back, but it’s great for feet too :)
  • @krthouse @nerdymom22 I will echo this. We have a ball - it's smaller than a tennis ball, I'm not sure what the size is called as it was given to us - and it is a huge help for foot tension release. I can't stand having my feet touched so it's basically the only way I can get a foot massage.
  • I had sciatica my first pregnancy and it's hit me again this time too 😖 I started seeing a chiropractor who studied prenatal chiropractic treatment and she's done wonders. I feel for ya!
  • I’d been lucky not to have any constipation issues  but to now at 21 weeks my digestion has slowed to a crawl! I swear I still feel full from dinner until the next morning, and TMI alert, my 💩 output is probably about half what it was before.
  • Ok I’m here with the weirdest symptom. I feel like complete garbage every morning after eating breakfast. Like heart racing, woozy, nauseous and need to lie down immediately 15 mins after consuming breakfast. It goes away and then everything is dandy but what is the deal?
  • What are you eating and are you starting to feel really thirsty?
  • Sometimes it’s cereal sometimes it’s yogurt and no, not thirsty just VERY dizzy, light headed and nauseous. I googled it and apparently this could be a type of morning sickness which makes sense but also blows my mind.
  • I would aim for a more protein heavy light carb breakfast. Sometimes eating too much in the morning can make you sick. I do a slice of whole grain toast and an egg to combat the feeling you are having. Cereal makes it worse for me.
  • @mclanna are you taking your vitamin or any other medications with your breakfast? Sometimes for me that makes me feel all sorts of sick for some reason. Hope you pinpoint it and can get relief!

@mcclanna Have you contacted your doctor and run this by them? Something that affects how you feel that seriously, even for a little bit, is something they should at least be informed about.

Mood-related symptom. Idk if it's even mood so much as instinctive drive? Anyone else have a lot harder or a time fighting the "Threat/Thing Needs Dealt With NOW" thing?
I've always been prone to dealing with things myself when I can, at least since I've felt capable of doing so, especially things I consider easy. This morning, in the middle of the road on doggo's and my walk, there was an intact but obviously dead turkey vulture. No visible trauma. However, here's the thing. They're logging our area right now and I knew that if that vulture stays there for even an hour or two, there won't be enough left to clean up and our dog will absolutely have the chance to eat a part of that bird, get sick, and who knows what.
I called my husband and said I need to move it, he said that pregnant women should under no circumstances touch carrion feeders because they are superfund sites. Here was my problem. I couldn't let it go. He said he'd deal with it when he gets home (in 9 hours!!!) and wouldn't listen when I said there wouldn't be enough bird left.
My instincts/whatever could give five shits about his safety concerns, apparently, because There Is A Threat I Need To Deal With. I asked our neighbor if they could get the vulture off the road and they did. Hubbs and I are in negotiations with my brain. He's feeling super protective, especially since I had a dog bite some time ago after running over a dog and checking on her after (objectively bad choice, I would've bitten me too) and I promised I'll avoid dealing with things like that myself to the most absolute extent possible.
Listening to him when he asks me to do the safe thing is going to take a few more steps
  • I've got a weird one.
During my anatomy scan the tech was scanning and got a brief glimpse of what looked like a penis and she said "guess it's a boy" and moved on. She spent maybe three seconds and I didn't say anything because she's working in a specialist office so I assumed she would go back. Every other anatomy scan I've had they've angled the wand, taken a picture with "boy" or "girl" on it. Now I didn't need a picture but it did look a little off compared to my previous boy scan with my third. Everyone is thrilled to be having another boy and little baby Phoebo is going to have the best dinosaur room designed by his big brother. My girls are straight drama 95% of the time so another boy is the perfect balance. I didn't really question anything. I told my husband that I thought it was a little weird for a few reasons including that the techs have always been super psyched to give us the news. It's also always been verified by a doctor.
Yesterday The Bump sends me an article that ultrasounds can be wrong around 5% of the time especially if the umbilical cord is floating in front and it can look like a penis. Now if the tech zooms in and looks around that can be easily resolved but that's not what my tech did at all. It was literally three seconds or as long as it took to say "guess it's a boy". So now at my appointment Tuesday I'm going to ask them to contact Natera to get the DNA results so I can breathe easy with the confirmation that I am having a little boy.
This would be an issue if I hadn't had three friends in the last two years have their ultrasound misread during their 20 week. I'm sure it's a boy but now I'm worried about decorating and planning for a boy and then getting surprised with a girl. I don't like being unprepared.
  • @krysnicole1022 I don't blame you I would also be skeptical!  What a weird way to share the gender with a patient??  Hope you get some clarification.
  • @sandy5693 exactly! That was so odd. In the days of NIPT it's becoming increasingly rare for the techs to be able to tell people what they are having without them knowing. I've had techs in the past tell me how excited they are to actually be able to share that experience. It's not that I doubt the reading it was just odd and rushed and looked different than my first son's. I'll just have them get the NIPT confirmation tomorrow.
We've got nursery ideas narrowed down to dinosaurs and sunken ship/pirate sort of thing.
  • Literally overnight I feel like my belly has gotten huge and my hips and pelvis are SO sore.  Thank goodness I started going to the prenatal chiropractor.  Having a little anxiety about what my back/hips will feel like in another couple of months!
  • I’ve been having this terrible sharp pain under my right rib/upper right abdomen area that started during the babymoon 🙄 went to the dr while traveling and after various ultrasounds, blood work, and other tests everything came back normal. (Which is good.. but also frustrating because this continued pain isnt normal.) It’s around the area where I had gallbladder surgery 10 years ago. Wonder if anyone else had that surgery and are experiencing scar tissue pain as a result of our bodies stretching/growing? Can’t think of anything other explanation for the pain and it’s been miserable ☹️
  • Has anyone had like, a hot flash? Yesterday evening, I got a sudden wave of being really hot and exhausted. I sweat through my clothes and just needed to sit down for a few minutes. So weird!
  • @reirei84 I just did yesterday! I’ve had a few hot flashes now. Yesterday thankfully I was home alone and just stripped down and laid in a room with a fan on until I felt better.
  • @reirei84 yes to hot flashes and still with the night sweats. Summer is only starting here and I’m hydrating like crazy. I feel like I’m sweaty and smelly all the time.
  • Good to know I’m not alone! I never happen with my first pregnancy, so I was a little taken aback. It was just after my son got out the bath. I let him run around naked for a bit so I could have a breather
  • Lower back pain from relaxin + how I sleep. I stretch out, I move. I got a pillow to help (see the weekly check-in) and it seems to be doing the trick.
I've never been prone to insomnia or had trouble going back to sleep, so I am going to count that in. I get alright sleep most nights, but there will be times when I just can't sleep. A lot of it is because baby June gets really active, but it's not just that.
On that note, I wake up every time I have to roll over.

With ADHD, I'm used to having focus issues, but my brain + pregnancy hormones... it's a whole different beast. I will just straight lose parts of conversations. Pre-pregnancy, I would have a feeling like I missed something, but now there's not even that hint.

Also, after every meal, it is harder to breathe  so that's not my favorite. Thanks for staying in the back, June. Not so much thanks for making my stomach squish everything else out of the way.
  • Anyone else have painful Braxton Hicks?
I'm 23 weeks, 2nd pregnancy. I had painful braxton hicks my first pregnancy too but I forgot how painful they are for me I have to breathe thru it like a contraction. I will talk to my OB about it next week but just want to vent and see if anyone relates..
Also anyone else starting to countdown and looking forward to not being pregnant?

  • @crystalre89 have felt some tightening but nothing painful. I’m a weirdo who really enjoys my pregnancies, and knowing this is the last one for me, I’m not in any hurry for it to be over.
  • I've had some cramping but no Braxton Hicks yet. I hated how I felt during my last pregnancy and I always said I would enjoy it if I got another chance. I'm so incredibly grateful for this baby/pregnancy after all the losses that I'm really enjoying it this time. Plus once the baby is out in the world then our lives are going to change and get so much harder. I'm not sure what going from 3 to 4 is going to be like but I know it's going to be rough. It's also definitely my last one so I am trying to just enjoy that I finally got to do it again.
I also have c sections so not being pregnant involves the old slice and dice and I'm super not looking forward to that nightmare or the recovery.
  • @crystalre89 i have braxton hicks that i have to breathe through but I wouldn’t call them painful
  • No Braxton Hicks for me yet. My main sum are occasional leg cramping/legs falling asleep, and a bit of swelling in my fingers now and then.

Is anyone exhausted- like first tri exhausted? I am 22 weeks and I can’t get out of bed- im normally a pretty active person but im barely managing my responsibilities.
  • @relizabethp yes! I'm wiped out and feel weak. I have so much to do and I can't manage doing more than the bare minimum. Fortunately we are in pool season and I've taught my kids it's not my job to entertain them in it so I just float in a mesh lounger and make sure no one drowns. My oldest can walk across the pool so she keeps her sister safe and my third is still in puddle jumpers.
  • @relizabethp YES. I'm zonked.
  • Just had so much discharge after a BM, that some dropped off the TP. So that’s a thing. I’m also recovering from a YI, so I knew there was gonna be more since that’s what the meds do, but I wasn’t planning on cleaning my work bathroom floor today. Lol.
  • I feel HUGE today. Bump definitely grew this week because I caught a glance in the mirror at work today and was like OH.
