Hi All!

- Name/Age/Loc

- Planned or Surprise?
- Do you have any other children? If yes, how many?
- What is your next milestone (major appointment, etc)
- What are you most looking forward to?
- What are you most concerned about?
Re: Geriatric Pregnancy (35+ intro and check-in)
- How Far Along are you? 7w 1d
- Do you have any other children? If yes, how many? Yes, DS is 2 years old.
- What is your next milestone (major appointment, etc): Ultrasound next week.
- What are you most concerned about? My age, having a healthy pregnancy and being able to handle 2 littles ones.
I have ultrasounds scheduled for about 2 weeks from now and right after the 4th of July. But, we just toured a birth center today, and I'd love to switch my prenatal care there (which may mean cancelling one or both of the obgyn visits). We're not sure yet if we can swing the finances, though. It's kinda ridiculous that midwife care is so much more expensive than hospital care (really due to insurance policies- I'm sure they make a lot less than the doctors and hospitals do, but I have to pay more for it).
Hi ladies! So happy this thread exists. I seriously thought I was the oldest one on this board.
- Name/Age/Loc: Jess/41/MA
- How Far Along are you? 6w 4d
- Planned or Surprise? A little bit of both. We thought we’d give it a try but only tried once during the ovulation period so I was certain I wasn’t pregnant. Lo and behold, period didn’t come when expected so I tested and was in denial for a few days.
- Do you have any other children? If yes, how many? Yes, 2 girls - oldest will be turning 8 in a couple of weeks and youngest will turn 6 in mid July.
- What is your next milestone (major appointment, etc): Other than a blood test to confirm, I haven’t been seen yet for anything. My first initial prenatal appointment isn’t until 9w. Who knows when I’ll even get an ultrasound. I remember being seen a lot sooner with my other pregnancies.
- What are you most looking forward to? My first appointment and/or ultrasound so I can hear the heartbeat and see the baby to confirm he/she is growing as he/she should be.
- What are you most concerned about? My age, healthy pregnancy.
@itsmejay You’re definitely not alone. So glad to see a few of us in the 40+ age population share their journey on here.
Name/Age/Loc - anastacia, 36 (37 in July) Canada
- How Far Along are you? 6w 4d
- Planned or Surprise? Both? Been trying since sept 2020 and was starting to look into adoption
- Do you have any other children? If yes, how many? No
- What is your next milestone (major appointment, etc) blood work Thursday, ultrasound next week, midwife week after that
- What are you most looking forward to? Just knowing the baby is healthy is good enough for me!
- What are you most concerned about? That we will find out that this baby isn’t viable. Would be heartbreaking as it’s taken a long time and not sure I would go through another try. Would likely just put an IUD in and move to adoption.
- Name/Age/Loc: 35, North Carolina (I’ll save my name for when we move to Facebook one day hopefully if that’s ok)
- How Far Along are you? 6 weeks tomorrow
- Planned or Surprise? Kinda both? We always wanted a third, but the timing was a huge surprise! And we certainly weren’t expecting twins 😳
- Do you have any other children? If yes, how many? Our daughter is 5 and our son is only 10 months old
- What is your next milestone (major appointment, etc) Next ultrasound is Friday, June 17. It’s gonna be a stressful couple weeks tbh
- What are you most looking forward to? Meeting these two little ones and introducing them to their big sis and bro
- What are you most concerned about? I have so much to learn about twin pregnancies… Apparently (according to the ED doctor who informed me of the surprise “extra” baby), “geriatric” pregnancies are much more likely to end up with multiples with increasing likelihood with every single cycle!
I have 4 kids (21, 18, 11, 8) and my husband has 2 (22, 20) and today we found out on ultrasound we're having twins! Babies measure 6w4d - due Jan 20th.
It wasn't planned or prevented. We're excited and hopeful for a healthy pregnancy. Glad there are other old-lady moms to relate to 😀
- How Far Along are you? 7w
- Do you have any other children? If yes, how many? Yes, DS who will be 7 in June and DD who just turned 4.
- What is your next milestone (major appointment, etc): First appt on June 24th.
- What are you most concerned about? How we will adjust to a family of 5. We have a pretty good routine with the kids getting a little more independent and now we are going back to the baby phase
And I really need to mention that you all are freaking me out with these twin pregnancies!
- Name/Age/Loc: Sarah, 35 from Georgia
- How Far Along are you? 8w1d
- Planned or Surprise? Surprise since I have a history of infertility/PCOS
- Do you have any other children? If yes, how many? 3 other children. 8 year old, almost 3 year old, and a daughter in heaven who should have turned 4 this year
- What is your next milestone (major appointment, etc): The 12 week appt will be June 30. This is when we first found out about our daughter in Heaven having CDH
- What are you most looking forward to? Just bringing home a healthy baby
- What are you most concerned about? Something going wrong with this pregnancy or the baby having an issue like Jasmine had
- Name/Age/Loc: 36, CO
- How Far Along are you? 9w
- Planned or Surprise? Surprise, we were thinking we would probably have a third but not this soon and hadn't fully decided, here we go I guess
- Do you have any other children? If yes, how many? 2 children. 3 year old girl, 10 month old boy
- What is your next milestone (major appointment, etc): First appointment w/ultrasound next week, only had a positive home pregnancy test so far
- What are you most looking forward to? I love the newborn stage, I know it's stressful and sleep deprived but those sweet little newborn snuggles are just the best
- What are you most concerned about? The risks/stats given my age, also as @sparklingdiamond mentioned, the twin stories are freaking me out as well, ha, we would make do but that would be a lot.
- Name/Age/Loc - Sara, 40
- How Far Along are you? 6w4d
- Planned or Surprise? Very planned, IVF
- Do you have any other children? If yes, how many? DS will be 3 in August
- What is your next milestone (major appointment, etc) I have another ultrasound next Tuesday and will be seeing my RE weekly until I graduate
- What are you most looking forward to? Honestly just hoping I can get to a point where I feel more excited than worried with this pregnancy.
- What are you most concerned about? ***TW I unfortunately have a very extensive loss history including late term loss of twins so I am not sure when I won’t worry any more.
- Name/Age/Loc: Britanie/ 36, 37 next month/ Indiana
- How Far Along are you? 8 weeks 5 days
- Planned or Surprise? Total surprise! Although, after my last loss, I have very much wanted to do this one last time! I truly didn't think it was in the cards, though!
- Do you have any other children? If yes, how many? 2 amazing children, 9 years old and 7 years old.
- What is your next milestone (major appointment, etc): I've had two ultrasounds and had my first official office visit on Wednesday with the nurse, and also did blood work. My next one is June 16th to actually meet with my Dr. and will do my NIPT testing blood work. 🤞
- What are you most looking forward to? This pregnancy progressing normally. Also finding out if this little baby is a boy or girl (at the end of this month 🤯)!
- What are you most concerned about? Another loss. My first pregnancy in 2012 was a MMC at 10 weeks, then two healthy pregnancies, and the pregnancy before this in 2017 was ectopic resulting in a ruptured tube. We just told our kids last night after seeing the heartbeat for the second time, and they are so excited... So I'm even more worried now, because I don't want them to hurt 🤦♀️.
Nice to meet you ladies! Here's to a happy and healthy 9 months for all of us! ❤️
- Name/Age/Loc? Rebecca / 37 (38 in August) / Michigan
- How Far Along are you? 7w04d
- Planned or Surprise? Planned, but still kind of a surprise. It was our first cycle back to trying after a miscarriage in February and we were kinda taking it easy and not tracking as closely as we had previously so I really wasn’t expecting success.
- Do you have any other children? If yes, how many? One 3 year old son
- What is your next milestone (major appointment, etc)? I have a second ultrasound appoint on June 20th to monitor my SCH and make sure everything is still progressing well
- What are you most looking forward to? The point where I can start relaxing about this pregnancy and stop feeling anxious about everything.
- What are you most concerned about? I had a huge gush of blood and tissue on Thursday night which had me convinced the pregnancy was over. I already had an ultrasound appointment for Friday and went in expecting to confirm the worst and was shocked to find out that everything is ok and get to hear a nice strong heartbeat. OB diagnosed a SCH which we are going to need to monitor. I’m relieved but I’m also still pretty on edge from the whole experience. I’ve had 3 prior miscarriages so the anxiety was going to be high during first trimester regardless and this has not helped with that.
Name/Age/Loc - Sara, 35, NJ

- Planned or Surprise? Surprise but welcomed and desired.
- Do you have any other children? If yes, how many? 0.
- What is your next milestone (major appointment, etc) First prenatal.

- How Far Along are you? 7 weeks today!
- Planned or Surprise? Very planned!
- Do you have any other children? If yes, how many? No, this is my first
- What is your next milestone (major appointment, etc)
Appointment and ultrasound on June 16!
- What are you most looking forward to? Mostly just getting confirmation at the appointment that the pregnancy is healthy and progressing normally. And I can’t wait to feel the baby move!
- What are you most concerned about? That I’ll miscarry. Longer term, I’m a single mother by choice and I’m worried about the isolation and loneliness of doing this alone.
- How Far Along are you? 7w 6d
- Do you have any other children? If yes, how many? Yes, two daughters, 6 and 4. They're so excited for a new baby!
- What is your next milestone (major appointment, etc): Ultrasound appointment on Thursday!
- What are you most concerned about? Normal pregnancy worries, nervous about blood screening in a few weeks and ready to have the results already.
My husband and I are devastated and I've been trying to look up what the odds are that the doctor was wrong or just had trouble finding the heartbeat? Has anyone been incorrectly diagnosed as having miscarriage??
- Name/Age/Loc Melanie, 39, NH
- How Far Along are you? 17 weeks
- Planned or Surprise? Planned (though we were surprised to conceive after 3 weeks of going off the B.C. pill)
- Do you have any other children? If yes, how many? No - first pregnancy, first baby!
- What is your next milestone (major appointment, etc) June 22 - Detailed morphology scan
- What are you most looking forward to? Experiencing all the emotional highs, lows and vulnerabilities of parenthood (short term - feeling the baby move)
- What are you most concerned about? Having a healthy birth experience and healthy baby
***Trigger warning loss -
I’ve had five miscarriages and they were always correctly diagnosed, unfortunately. My fourth pregnancy we saw baby just before 8w and he had a HB, at 9w he had none (although he had passed very recently, having grown appropriately). I asked my RE and we checked on both ultrasound machines in the clinic. I asked if she had ever seen a HB, then not seen it, then seen it again, and she said unfortunately no.
We just got back from another visit and the doctor did another ultrasound and we're waiting for extra bloodwork to come back as confirmation, but she wasn't able to find the heartbeat again. She recommended a D&C for tomorrow, but we aren't able to take off work that suddenly so we were going to wait until next week and then get one last ultrasound just in case. My husband is being super supportive and I can tell he's upset too, but we're in it together and that's all I can really ask for.
I'm going to be removing my due date so I don't receive any reminders from the bump, but I wish you all healthy pregnancies and the best to your growing families. It is a blessing to have such a supportive community.

- How Far Along are you? 9 weeks
- Planned or Surprise? Surprise, we had to do IVF the first time; haven't been pregnant naturally in 9 years 🥴
- Do you have any other children? If yes, how many? Yes, a 2 year old boy
- What is your next milestone (major appointment, etc) MFM doctor in August
- What are you most looking forward to? Keeping this baby in longer then 26 weeks
- What are you most concerned about? Keeping this baby in longer than 26 weeks 🤣
- Name/Age/Loc - Roya, 35 (36 in Oct!), California
- How Far Along are you? 7 weeks 5 days
- Planned or Surprise? A planned surprise? We experienced a miscarriage in January so I was like “IDC WHATEVER HAPPENS HAPPENS” but it happened and our wedding reception is in August so…my timing is always a little funny :)
- Do you have any other children? If yes, how many? No! This will be our first!
- What is your next milestone (major appointment, etc)
I just had my first appointment, they were actually able to do the ultrasound on my belly (i estimated I was further along than I am), we saw the little rice grain and HEARD A HEART BEAT. I almost lost it.
- What are you most looking forward to? Seeing the little human we made and hoping I can figure this out.
- What are you most concerned about? I’ve been nauseous for 24 hours a day since I took a pregnancy test two weeks ago. I don’t know if I’ll survive this LOL
But realistically, I’m concerned about all of it. Mostly, I keep comparing this pregnancy to my loss in January. I need to stop. But also- How am I going to be as a mom? Will I get it right? What if I don’t know what I’m doing? All the normal concerns, I guess.
Happy to be here though. 💕
