Toddler in queen bed?

Our second baby is due in August. We have a second crib but have considered moving our toddler out of her nursery and into the guest room where there's already a queen bed. Has anyone started their toddler in a big bed? How did it go? I'm not sure if we have a good walk to put it up against so we may need railings for both sides. Looking for pros and cons!  Thanks!

I have a 3 year old and i am due with my second in October. We just moved my 3 year olds crib into the baby’s room and got my
daughter a big girl bed (it’s a full). I got one of those long bumper pillows to put along the edge. On night 3 she rolled over it and fell out 😣 so i also got a bed rail, which makes me feel so much better! I moved the long bumper pillow to the edge of the bed because she rolls all over and i was worried she’d fall off the edge again! She feels like such a big girl in it 😊 i also did it bc i have Symphysis Pubic dysfunction now and lifting her in and out of a crib was not possible anymore, so the bed works much better for me too! Only con so far is that she has freedom to get out of the bed whenever she wants. We’ve talked about how she still needs to call for me or her dad to come get her and 80% of the time she’ll listen to that but we all know toddlers like to make their own rules lol good luck with the transition i recommend starting now before baby is here!
