2nd Trimester

When do food aversions stop?

Hi guys!

I’m 14wks and a FTM, and I’m wondering when most people stop having food aversions. My nausea has gotten a bit better (def not all the way gone), but most food is still disgusting to me- the smell of meat, onions, garlic, etc make me sick, and every day it’s hard to figure out what I actually can eat. Honestly eating has basically been miserable for me and I only eat because I have to.

I know that everyone is different, but I’m just ready for this part of the pregnancy to be over!! Most people told me that it would be fade out during the first trimester, but so far that’s not the case!

Re: When do food aversions stop?

  • It may not end until after delivery.  We can not tell you.
  • I’m 25 weeks with my second and mine haven’t stopped. I’ve even started losing weight but it hasn’t been very drastic. My first pregnancy was the same and honestly my appetite didn’t come back until I was like 3/4 months postpartum. I have to heavily crave something or I can’t hold it down. Just try to stick to stuff you know you’ll hold down and know that this is temporary

  • Omg, same here. I’m a food lover but since around 11 weeks I started being disgusted but almost every food and smell. I’m currently 19 weeks in my second trimester and still struggling. I barely gain wait if not at all which is a bit concerning :/ I’ve been told that by 2nd trimester you get back your appetite and that’s true I did get it back however the food is still disgusting and I can barely eat without having this weird and bad taste in my mouth.

I haven't had aversions but at 7 weeks, drinking coffee (reg or decaf) made me vomit (immediately - ugh). I LOVED it before pregnancy, so I was devastated. I gave it up immediately. I was brave, missed it, and tried it again at 16 weeks. No issues so far, no nausea or vomiting. Fingers are crossed that I can have my one morning cup a day.

Hi! I'm almost 16 weeks, and my food aversions haven't stopped either! One of my aversions is steak. I usually love steak so much! Oof.

We'll get through it! At least we will have the rest of our lives (after the baby is born) to enjoy the food again.
