Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss

I think my hcg levels dropped I am testing negative

I’m not sure if I am having a miscarriage but my hcg levels dropped from Thursday until now. I tested myself again today because something felt off and I tested negative. I need support or advice because I don’t know what to do. I don’t have any bleeding or cramping.

Re: I think my hcg levels dropped I am testing negative

  • I'd call your doctor/nursing line.  If your beta level tests were taken around 48 hours apart and dropped, that's how they confirm MC.  I'm sorry.  They should continue to do those beta hcg tests every 48 hours/week until it drops below 5.

Sometimes it takes your body to 'catch up' that it's losing the baby, especially if it's your first MC/PG.  Therefore, you may start bleeding/cramping within a few days.  Be kind to yourself and practice self care.  Take time off of work if you can.  Take some baths if you get a lot of pain/cramping.  Etc.

October 2015 - 1st MC.  7-8 weeks along. Suspected molar PG, but luckily just a MMC.

    June 2016 - 2nd MC: 4-5 weeks CP

    September 2016 - 3rd MC: 4-5 weeks CP

RE 1: ALL the testing - 'unexplained'  "Yinz can do IVF or try on your own"

    Feb 2017 - 4th MC: 6 weeks

RE 2: More tests. Still 'unexplained.'  Called fat for an entire hour-long appointment, cried a lot

    Feb 2019 - 5th MC: 6-7 weeks

    IUD - March 2019-March 2023

RE 3:  Repeat all the tests. Hoping to try IVF.

  • I had a similar experience last month. Positive tests for a week and then a negative. Hcg dropped and 4 days later I had a heavy period. If you are wanting to try again right away, we got pregnant 2 weeks later at the next cycle and it's seemingly healthy at 6 weeks. I took heart in knowing my body just needed an adjustment after having a MMC in October.
    Good luck momma.
