1st Trimester

Low progesterone

Hey everyone. I’m 5 weeks 2 days with my first pregnancy. I have pcos. Last monday my progesterone was 11.1 and yesterday it was down to 7.8. My hcg was 180 last week and 3017 as of yesterday. But with the low progesterone I am freaking out that I’m going to miscarry but my doctor doesn’t seem to be concerned about the progesterone drop.
Thoughts, advice, similar experiences? Am I overreacting? Should I ask for a supplement?

I might ask about supplemental progesterone, though not all doctors prescribe it at all. My OB said the research on it is hazy but anecdotally he believes it does help in preventing miscarriage. My progesterone was low too when I got my first labs back — it was 13.8 but then dropped to 11.8 2 days later, which I was told was not a great sign. They immediately put me on 200mg of supplemental progesterone 2x/day and at my first ultrasound last week they seemed satisfied that things were going better. Obviously just one random example but I would ask about the supplement if you’re concerned, as the numbers shouldn’t really be going down.

My progesterone was 13 I believe so my doctor said he wanted it to be at least 20 so I was put on supplements immediately. I miscarried in March though so it may just be for safe measure
  • My progesterone was 6.7 at first blood test with 370ish HCG and they didn’t mention anything about it, then at my second blood test my HCG was up past 900 but no progesterone was listed for my results. Called my doctor and no one got back  to me and I’m panicking.
  • I started the progesterone supplement last night. My nurse failed to tell me I needed to start them LAST TUESDAY. Ended up having to call the after hours nurse and my original nurse got written up because she missed my OBs notes about starting the supplements so I went 4 days without them 😡
  • @brieland_marie Oh no, I’m so sorry! Are they going to retest your levels soon?

@bustabucket I started 200 mg progesterone every night and they bumped my first ultrasound to the 20th instead of the 27th. My HCG is great and I haven’t had any signs of miscarriage that I know of so I’m hoping baby is healthy and the supplements are working!
