1st Trimester

Husband is upset...

I'm 6 weeks and 3 days and the nausea and exhaustion is so real. Unfortunately this means that my libido has dropped and the idea of having to rock my body for sex is just so unappealing. My poor husband is getting hurt because I keep rejecting his advances. Is this normal? Does anyone have any suggestions?

  • Try talking to him about how your body is feeling and changing. I’m 7w4d and I’ve been dealing with so much exhaustion, soreness, and nausea that I’ve been totally not feeling sex since right before I got a positive test. My husband was a little worried at first that I’m not going to want to for the rest of the pregnancy but we talk about how much my body is changing and how it feels and it helps him to understand what I’m dealing with. At this point the interest is starting to come back but I’m physically just not there yet, but I’m sure I will be soon. Communication is really important

  • Puke on him. That’ll bring your libidos to the same level. But in all seriousness, if you are not feeling well and YH I can’t understand why you might not feel like being intimate, then you need to have a very serious conversation, because it will likely be the same thing, if not worse during your post partum period and you may be pressured into having sex before you’re ready.

  • Just my two cents, I started to share like EVERY detail of what was going on with my body with my husband, everything! I’m 8 weeks and I think being real with him about how I’m feeling and stuff has helped him understand where I’m at and also kinda feel more part of the process. We aren’t the share everything gross detail couple typically but that’s all changed! Being pregnant is tough! I hope this helps. Best of luck hun!
  • Going on 10 weeks of no sex- communication is key- being honest about how you are feeling

good time to find other ways to be intimate- or build relationship
  • Same girl! My husband is always asking for sex but I'm just not in the mood for it. I just tell him to go jack off with his hands or to wait until I'm in the mood. Luckily....or maybe not so lucky due to my ph level is so unbalanced. I got yeast infection and now we're both not in the mood so problems solved. Lol could just lie and say you got the infection. But if that makes you feel gross or embarrassed then just tell him to use his hands until you're ready. If they love you, they'll respect you.
  • Thanks for the input everyone. He hasn't been mean about it or anything, he's just very sensitive about rejection due to trauma from a past experience. I just keep reminding him that it has nothing to do with my attraction to him, its just that the idea of moving so much and exerting so much energy does NOT sound appealing lol. He's been getting better with it, and I definitely do understand his hurt because I know I hate getting rejected when I want it too! I just wanted to make sure it's normal to have such a drastic sudden disinterest in sex. I keep telling him that I'm sure after the first trimester once the nausea calms down it'll be better 😅
