@ashley35209 yup I'm in the middle of no where too. I used to have to drive 45 minutes to get any type of fast food. I think the closest 5 guys is only 45 minutes away now.

Baby's Name (if chosen): Not official, but my husband and I keep calling her Whisper and it's starting to stick

𝗨𝗽𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀: Not until May 9th for my anatomy scan. I think we're gonna sneak off to an ultrasound boutique this weekend to see her though, it's been about a month.

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴?: My back is killing me. I threw it out a couple weeks ago while picking up my cat, then it got better, and now the upper shoulder/neck part is killing me (I think I slept wrong). I have to move my whole body to look at a student when they call me lol. Other than that I feel okay though. Always tired, I can sleep 10 hours and still wake up needing more.

𝗥𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀/𝗥𝗮𝘃𝗲𝘀: I have a job interview that I'm really excited about tomorrow. I think I'm slightly underqualified but I'm excited to apply to something that's not teaching nonetheless.

𝗤𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: Is anyone else struggling with feeling pregnant? I'm not showing one bit and I don't think I feel her (hard to tell). It's hard not to compare what I look like to other 18 weekers and not feel self-conscious.

𝗚𝗧𝗞𝗬:  Tell us a joke! I've only got nasty middle schooler jokes in my head rn sorry

@ashley35209 @babywiik Also Jack in the Box, Burgerville (Oregon), In-N-Out, Carl’s Jr. all do lettuce wraps for burgers. Some call it “protein style” or “low-carb.”
For sandwiches, Jimmy John’s does lettuce wraps.
You can also ask literally any burger place for “no bun” and many of them will put your burger on a bed of lettuce.

𝗥𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀/𝗥𝗮𝘃𝗲𝘀: My husband is taking the week off this week. He works so hard and I’m so glad he’s getting a break from his regular grind.

𝗤𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: What are some good meals to freeze ahead of time? I’m planning on being useless for at least the last month of this pregnancy, so I want to get a jump start on meals.

@csardaszz Soups tend to freeze well! I like making big batches of Minestrone, Italian Wedding, and Butternut Squash soup and freezing it in portions. Lasagna freezes well too. Same with chili. I plan on freezing a bunch for the first month after the baby is born, too. Otherwise I know we'll be doing tons of takeout!

@csardaszz are you ever tempted to find out the genders? I think not knowing would drive me crazy😆

@csardaszz I like the suggestions made by @bigworldlittleg and I’d also add in spaghetti sauce. Easy to reheat and all you need to do is boil some pasta.

I also know people that really loved these for the first few months with baby: https://pinchofyum.com/freezer-meals I’m planning to make some of them this time around too.

I think I forgot to do mine this time…

    𝗨𝗽𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀: OB today :)

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴?: finally not as exhausted though I did feel out of breath after walking very fast to/from our concert venue last night which is weird because I don’t feel like I’ve gained very much weight yet.

𝗥𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀/𝗥𝗮𝘃𝗲𝘀: rant: it’s almost May and it’s STILL snowing wtf. Rave: looking forward to picking out the vanity, mirrors, lights and tiles for our new bathroom reno!

@bigworldlittleg Ah! You just reminded me of the butternut squash I cooked the other day! It shall become a soup! I love all of your suggestions, a bonus about freezing soup is it takes up less space than casserole-type dishes.

@babywiik I like surprises! I will admit, though, that it’s getting tricky to think about names (just picking one is hard enough, let alone four!) and talking to my daughter about her “little brothers… or sisters… or both”.

@newbabymama27 Some of those recipes on Pinch of Yum look great! Looks like I have some planning to do, thanks for the help! 🙏🏻

@newbabymama27 feeling out of breath is more likely due to your lungs being squished than from weight gain. Also, those recipes look delicious! We need to start a recipe thread. I'm always looking for easy meals to make.

𝗨𝗽𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀: Home monitoring now - I have an US at 32 week US to see if my placenta has moved away from my cervix.

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴?: Great. In the mornings I forget I’m pregnant and as the day goes on I start to feel heavy with a sore back haha. I can actually feel this little girl move and I didn’t feel any movement with my son until I was 25 weeks and it didn’t become regular until 30 weeks. I am starting to feel pretty self conscious of my size. I think a haircut might help. I would also really like some new clothes but it’s still snowing in MN so I’m holding off for now. I did but a couple new pieces of makeup at Target today (a pink lip balm and a contour palette- yikes?)

𝗥𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀/𝗥𝗮𝘃𝗲𝘀: COVID has been crushing our area and it’s really stressing me out. My 2 year old has been out of daycare since last Thursday and I had to take 3 days off with him because he coincidentally got an unrelated viral illness. My PTO is completely drained and I really feel sad that I probably won’t be able to go on the family vacation I’ve been dreaming of/planning for in June. It was going to be to the Childrens Museum in Indianapolis. It has a HUGE exhibit called Dinosphere and my son would have loved it. I also have 2 weeks of being on call coming up and that’s extremely stressful. We don’t do in house call for some stupid reason so essentially I could work for 48 hours straight at the hospital with no coverage to go home and sleep.

    𝗤𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: Any good TV shows?

I've been getting out of breath much more easily since three months now. There's got to be something with the hormones too. I could walk 5-6 miles without having to rest a single time and now I usually catch my breath somewhere in the first half mile to full mile on the same roads. In my defense, at least it is uphill on forest roads.

I’ve been MIA lately due to work being extremely busy and hectic. By the time I got off work, I didn’t even want to look at any kind of screen. Finally, things are starting to slow down.

𝗨𝗽𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀: just had the anatomy scan yesterday, but will have to do it again at my next appt May 18th. Little man decided he didn’t want to cooperate yesterday

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴?: was feeling great until about a week ago. I have lots of fluid built up in both ears, but the antibiotics nor the allergy meds are working. It kills my head and makes me off balance. I started experiencing extreme pain in the middle of my lower abdominal that freaked me out, but turns out my midwife said that my abdominal muscles have begun to separate already.

𝗥𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀/𝗥𝗮𝘃𝗲𝘀: Rave - since our little one didn’t cooperate in the anatomy scan, we get to have another one. Pretty excited about that. They said I wouldn’t get another one if everything looked great and baby was measuring correctly.

𝗤𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: is anyone else considering a Babymoon?

@wendy-g yeah my partner and I are planning a 2 night trip into the big city (Toronto) in two weeks for the baby moon. We can’t do anything longer as we are renovating. But we have a plan to go see cirque du soleil and maybe go to the aquarium and definitely eat some nice meals!! Trying to book a hotel with a pool so I can get a little swim in!

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴?: It's such a mixed bag! Sometimes I forget I'm pregnant, sometimes it's overwhelming. The nausea only hits a couple times a day now, thankfully. My posture has taken a hit, and I'm feeling it in the knots in my shoulder blades. Most of the time, I feel great, and full of energy.

𝗥𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀/𝗥𝗮𝘃𝗲𝘀: I'm guessing it's too early for nesting but I've been on a real cleaning kick. It's gotta be related to living in a construction zone since November. We've moved walls, built walls, replaced windows and doors, rerouted hvac ducts, and set up for an additional bathroom downstairs. I'm so ready for finished spaces that are simple to clean! One step at a time - we are so close to mudwork, paint, cabinets, and flooring!

@millygolitely oh that sounds like fun! We definitely want to go one as well. We are trying to save as much PTO to add on top on maternity leave, so that makes it a little difficult. 𝗨𝗽𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀: just had anatomy scan and midwife appointment this week so now a month till next midwife. Everything was normal / average for the scan so that was good to hear!

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴?: generally good. Felt pretty sore and shitty after ultrasound scan as it was so long, had an internal and I guess my uterus contracted and wouldn’t relax so was just a tiring and long process. Had some emotional moments yesterday which I haven’t had at all so far. But generally feeling great and glad the scan was all good!

𝗥𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀/𝗥𝗮𝘃𝗲𝘀: rant: feel like things are a bit stressful at work, though I know it will calm down in a week or two. Rave: work is aiming to get a cover in for me but to start in late June so we have a whole month to overlap before my vacation then leave in august. Rant: got jury duty summons and I actually would be so interested to go but it’s not a good time while pregnant / they would probably excuse me due to pregnancy anyway. Will find out how that goes tomorrow when I email in with my pregnancy update. Rave: there is a work trip to a fancy resort in Quebec that I might actually go on in June - will wait to decide closer to due to covid risks and how I am feeling. Midwife said no worries for short flight at that time, considering my low risk pregnancy at this point.

𝗤𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: follow up answer on my question from last week: midwife says my sore toenails thing doesn’t look like a pregnancy issue so I need to check with family doctor.. could be an infection which is so weird as I go nowhere but who knows.

@dvmmama https://www.rocketcitychiropractic.com/10-piriformis-stretches-to-get-rid-of-sciatica-hip-and-lower-back-pain/ isn't pregnancy-specific and you might want to skip/modify any stretches that sound like a bad idea, but I've been relying heavily on a lot of these.

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴?: A zillion times better now that we have answers (update posted on this thread), even though part of me feels like I ought to be disappointed that the answers could have been better. I'm also finally feeling less sick and less limited in what I can eat - I still have to stick to small meals and pay close attention when I start feeling full, but I had Chinese food the other night and it was so much fun to be eating something other than toast!

𝗥𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀/𝗥𝗮𝘃𝗲𝘀: I have plenty to complain about with Kaiser, but their lab has been admirably fast! We were told 10-14 days with both the CVS and the amnio, and we heard back in a week for the CVS and a week and a day for the amnio. I'm also really glad that our family is handling the news (and our decision) well - everyone is happy for us and relieved that we didn't get worse news.
