Ultrasound showed short nasal bone a marker for Down syndrome

We just had our 20 week ultrasound. They noted a hypoplasic nasal bone which is typically an indicator for Down syndrome. I’ve been switched to high risk and referred to a specialist beginning next week for additional testing. My question is given the original genetic testing not showing a risk for downs what are the odds this is accurate? Should I begin preparing to give birth to a child with Down syndrome? Does anyone have any resources?

I just had my 20 week us with MFM and they also measured a short nasal bone (hypoplastic NB) but doc said not to worry if genetic testing (nipt) comes back low risk for downs

Thanks for the solidarity! It’s nice not to be alone in this. Will you do the aminonescrtis (butchering that spelling) as part of your additional testing?

17 years ago I had my second child. Ultrasound showed "bright bowels" ... amniocentesis showed he was fine & I was treated as high risk the entire pregnancy.  Lots of unnecessary Ultrasounds. Good luck mama
