PLEASE HELP- GASTROINTESTINAL ISSUES??

serious TMI- but I’m desperate to find an answer or guidance. This is my fourth pregnancy. My third pregnancy I developed a condition that I don’t even have words for.

I would wake up in the morning and have back to back to back awful sulphur like acid burps followed by horrible stomach cramps and diarrhea alll day long. Sometimes it would take more than a day to go away. I never found a pattern for what brought it on. It would come and go on its own. My OBGYN never gave a diagnosis everything is always chalked up for “well that’s pregnancy” he prescribed me a proton pump inhibitor omeprazole, I never noticed an improvement with or without it.

Anyways. Tonight the horrible nasty burps are back and I am literally almost in tears I’m so scared/upset of dealing with this again. Last time this didn’t develop until mid 2nd trimester. I’m only 9 weeks right now 😭😭😭😭

Please please someone relate and have a direction to point me or something that helps.

  • I can't relate but that sounds absolutely awful.

  • Have you tried parental probiotics? It could be a gut health issue?
  • Hello, IBS/Reflux mom-to-be here. It can take time but I'm on Pantoprazole 2x a day pre pregnancy and even with early stages im doing a-ok. Pregnancy safe (according to my HIGH RISK OBGYN) and sounds like it would do you well. If it is what you say it is, sounds like reflux. Broccoli, garlic, onions and cabbage are my culprits to trigger it. Also be wary of nitrates. It can make it flair as well. Pasteurized Apple Cider Vinegar (1/2 to 1 tablespoon) mixed with water (about 8 oz) does wonders in the mean time. Hope this helps. Look up GERD food lists to help you narrow it down to see who exactly is the culprit.
