Monday night we had a bunch of storms and tornado warnings. I live in North Texas. We had a tornado 10 miles south of us. I’m not from here so obviously I was freaking out lol
I made cookies yesterday lol. I haven't done any baking since my tooth extraction, but I was so cold and the oven warms up the entire apartment so it seemed like a good excuse!

Exhibit A on why I continue to wear a mask at wotk even though it's not required: had a customer hacking their lungs up at my register, coughing then touching things they were giving me, my counter, everywhere. I washed the hell out of the clunter and slathered on the hand sanitizer but ugh.
@mflowers929 Sounds delicious! I will definitely try to make them after we work our way through this batch.
@fantasyflyte eek! That is so gross. We still do symptom screening at school and so I actually feel pretty safe because people know they can't come if they are even slightly sick.
@fantasyflyte I was so surprised to see how few people are masked. Our only mandates are on public transit, but my child and I were the only ones masked in two different grocery stores.
@PurplePumpernickel yeah, most people aren't wearing them around here anymore, even in Walmart. Medical places are the only places I see that still make it mandatory.
Yeah...I'm really not sure how to feel about things anymore. As a teacher it is really hard to wear a mask all day and I was actually looking forward to the lifting of mandates, but as a pregnant person I am super worried about the effects of covid (and all of the other viruses) in early pregnancy.
@ponyoisfun I've had to give several presentations and facilitate panels masked, and I find it so hard to catch my breath; props to teachers for talking allllll day.
@ponyoisfun I'm also a teacher and we lifted the mask mandate in the beginning of March. I don't want to jinx it, but we haven't had a single case since! I think timing has a lot to do with that though because we haven't gone through a surge since winter break. Also, you mentioned covid in early pregnancy. The day I tested positive with a pregnancy test, I also tested positive for Covid (my luck). I let my OB know and the only thing they sounded concerned about was if I spiked a temp. I never did (my entire family only had it mild, thankfully!). But since both of the positives, it's kind of lingered in the back of my brain. Not that you asked for it, but that's my experience!
@ponyoisfun that is a valid concern I share with you. Dropping mandates during an active pandemic with another possible surge, as it is already occurring in other countries, worries me for my children and this pregnancy. I don’t know if I can handle another surge mentally, but thankfully pregnant people aren’t assigned covid patients. Just the sound of bipaps and vents from outside the door makes me so sick now.
@Gingermom15 the surges are so scary! Thankfully my school district has a plan to remask if community numbers get to a certain level. Do you work in a hospital? I can't even imagine being pregnant and working in the medical field with patients. You're a super hero in my eyes!
@mali0902 I don’t think my sons district will remask. I live in a far right, rural town. They never enforced the masking policy as it was, as long as the kids were seen walking into the school with a mask on that’s all they seemed to care about. My son told me they were told it wasn’t necessary inside 🙄
yes, I am a nurse. I’ve worked on inpatient floors throughout all my pregnancies but this is the only time I’ve been nervous about it. I’m thankful I won’t have to take covid patients but also worried that will change if we are short staffed enough.
