Team finding out - just waiting to see if NIPT is covered and/or see our US. I agree that team green would be fun but before selling all our girl’s clothes at our garage sale, I want to know if I should keep them instead. All my friends kids are much older, because they had their kids younger, so the days of free hand-me-downs are gone. Lol
@cfranx 100% agree with you. I’m not really dying to find out, so I could see us being team green this time, but if we’re having a boy I absolutely have to deal with the 4+ years of clothes while I still have some free time to do so.
We got our NIPT results Friday night and I immediately caved when they asked if we wanted to know the sex. This entire pregnancy I've been convinced we're having a girl, so it was so exciting to find out my feelings were right on track!
Finding out did make things feel more cemented in reality, which wasn't something I expected. In some ways I've been trying to keep a safe distance in case anything went awry and now that we know little one is low risk my husband and I both definitely have a different level of anticipation.
I'm still not sure if we'll share this bit with family/friends. Right now it feels really nice to know a bit about our future family that we get to keep just between us.
Y'ALL!!! My friends are having a baby in July. At their anatomy scan they were told they were having a girl, but they just did a 3D ultrasound today and it's a boy! Now I'm wondering if I want to get a 3D to confirm since we're planning to find out.
Team Green for the first time and I cannot believe I’m attempting this. So not my personality. And I have the NIPT results in a patient portal and it’s taking all my will power not to look 🤣 I’m so strongly confident it’s a girl and I just want to confirm that mama is always right! Dying!!!
I’m pretty committed to team green……. but……. I wonder if knowing the sex would make it somehow more real??? But for now sticking to keeping it a surprise. 💚
Just got the call that we have a healthy baby girl!! 💞💞💕 We’re waiting to share the news with family so I’m going to post here to get it out of my system. It’s the first time I cried in the whole pregnancy so I guess it’s really real. 😭
We got our NIPT results, all genetics came back normal and we're having a boy! We both had a funny, for-no-reason feeling that it could be a boy, and my friend had a dream it was a boy...so here we are! We have a 3 year old girl who is so excited about her baby brother!
I'm finding out but will wait until 20 weeks instead of the DNA test..
I missed your comment my last time through the thread, this is what we are thinking of doing too. We did this last time because my NIPT was like a week before my anatomy scan so I decided to just wait, but it was so special finding out during the anatomy scan I think I want to do that again.
@bows22@krysnicole1022 you two have me really tempted to hold off til the anatomy scan. I’ve never done it that way and just always found out from NIPT, but it sounds like it’s so special to find out that way!
@EmilyE13 there was just something about seeing my baby up on the screen and learning that piece of the puzzle! I instantly knew what her name was too. I didn’t tell DH that I had that feeling for a couple of weeks because there was another name I liked better 😂. If we do decide we are going to find out from the NIPT this time I am going to give DH my password and let him find out first and do a little reveal for me & DD
I've done it both ways. With my first the NIPT wasn't as common. I did a mix with my second (low tech office that got the results and I had them write it down and put it in the envelope. The ultrasound was inconclusive but the tech said she had a guess just based off her 20 years of experience. She wrote it down and we opened both envelopes.) With my third we got a phone call from one of the nurses as soon as they got the results (this was five years ago). I also just want something to look forward to.
We did ivf and had the embryos genetically tested so we knew the gender from the get go. We told our team we wanted to use the best looking embryo for the best chance at success and it was a girl. So girl number two for us.
I’m still in shock it’s a 💙boy💙. Found out this morning from the nurse who called with the (normal) NIPT results. I have no boy stuff! My older daughter is utterly THRILLED. She had been hoping for a boy.
I can’t really participate in this thread bc I’m Team Green, BUT! I wanted to share something I think is so cute (and special). We have names for either sex, but they’re a secret from family/friends. My 4 year old absolutely knows them but she randomly and totally independently decided to call the baby “Lou” as a kind of decoy. I don’t even think she knows that name can go both ways but I think it’s the cutest thing. So for the rest of the pregnancy, we are calling the baby “BabyLou” instead of “it” or “he/she” or “the baby”. It just feels so cute to have a nickname that came from big sis 🥰 she’s actually invested in this and gets it.
We had our reveal on Sat. My son, boyfriend, and myself all felt it is a girl….and we are right!!! We are all so excited. My son has been asking for a sister for years and this is my boyfriends first and he wanted a girl. 💗
FTM, 12.5 weeks, got my NIPT back on Saturday evening, everything was negative and it’s boy! Only disappointment I guess is I want one of each 😂 We were struggling with boy names too, it is going to take a while to find something we both like. But now I feel relieved a bit and like I can start planning more for some reason.
Got my NIPT results today. I was fairly certain it was a girl, and it’s actually a boy. I wanted to know sooner so I could determine which clothes to purge. I’m a little sad to get rid of some of the cute clothes I had for my daughter, but she’s excited to be the only girl with 3 brothers.
Two days ago I had a dream that I saw our little baby at about a year old and it was a boy. I just got my NIPT results back this morning and come to find out…we are having another little boy! 💙 Boy mom for life I guess lol
I did the genetic testing called Natera and got the gender added to it a few weeks ago. It takes about 2 weeks to get results. But I’m having a baby girl. I already have a daughter who will be 6 next month and fraternal twin boys who turned 2 last month. My daughter looked at my ultrasound and said she was having a sister before I even got my results so she’s super excited to not be the only girl because she’s surrounded by nothing but boys.
@KGETS86 this is exactly why I didn't find out early. I needed to delay the inevitable purging of clothes because this one is definitely my last one and if it's a boy I have a lot of girls clothes to purge. I don't want to do it.
Got my NIPT results Monday. Another boy! I have a 17 month old boy, so he'll have a friend! My husband and his brother are about the same age difference and they are really close, so I'm hoping my 2 have a similar experience 🥰
@smjackson10102020 I don’t know anything about skull or nub theory. I will say that at my 12w ultrasound which was after I found out NIPT that it was a boy, I saw what I thought looked like a bit of an appendage when we were looking at his legs and feet and the baby kinda shifted. 🤷♀️
@krysnicole1022 I need to purge ASAP, because her room is overflowing with clothes, and I need to make space to move her 2yo brother into her room with her (my oldest boy is autistic and would NOT handle having a roommate well). And I need to purge while she’s still in school, because SHE, in her 4yo wisdom, thinks she can still fit into a 9M dress. 🤦🏻♀️
I think I’m going to hold onto some of the more sentimental outfits that could be used for future grandchildren (if that’s in the cards).
I told my husband I was going to start getting higher quality clothes for my oldest, since we’ll get so much use out of them.
@KGETS86 My oldest suffers from crippling anxiety and has IED (intermittent explosive disorder) after experiencing extreme bullying and trauma at school from students, teachers, and administration. She cannot share a room. It's her safe place and she needs a private place to go during explosions. We literally have to lock the door and walk away. We are converting our formal dining room into a bedroom because my second doesn't sleep and my son's room is TINY. We couldn't reasonably fit another kid in there.
@krysnicole1022 I’m so sorry that your oldest experienced all of that! I try to make all of their bedrooms their safe spaces, but I probably take particular care with my oldest because he just gets so overwhelmed by everyone sometimes. I’m glad your oldest has her safe place as well.
NIPT came back today and it’s a boy! I would have been happy regardless, but secretly kind of happy because we’ll feel more “complete”. I always wanted 3, hubs wanted 2, and at this point it took so long for #2, that #3 is out of the question anyway 🙃
Fun story though, when I was pregnant with my daughter, a few days before our anatomy scan, I dreamt of a little blonde pigtailed girl running through a field with my husband goofing off. I thought the whole time she was going to be a boy until they confirmed.
This time around I dreamt 2 days ago that we got results and an all clear, but it said “it’s a boy” in light blue.
DH checked my NIPT results and tearfully informed me that we’re having a boy! 😭 He went to party city this morning and bought a confetti balloon and we told DD that way. She’s thrilled! (we all are! But DH and I are kind of in shock haha)
