GTKY 2/22

What's your favorite piece of clothing that you own? (or did own, if it's no longer in your wardrobe)
Current pregnancy -
First BFP on 1/4/22.  Due date 9/13/22.

Four prior losses, no living children - 1 first trimester miscarriage, 1 blighted ovum, 1 chemical, and one extreme premature live birth daughter who died at 15 days old.

Re: GTKY 2/22

  • Probably my white Atlanta Braves sweatshirt from Etsy. It's so comfy!

  • Currently, I have these African double layer dresses that are super loose and will accommodate me through at least month 7 (I wear them as regular clothes even when not pregnant lol).  They actually have pockets, too!

When I was younger (~14 or 15) I used to have this ankle length brown dress with little white flowers that was split in the front up to about my knees and then had little tiny round buttons up to the neckline and long sleeves.  This was the height of the grunge era (~1993), so I wore it with knee high combat boots and a choker.  Miss that dress, even more than 25 years later.

  • Ummm it took 3 years, but I found underwear that fits well after my two c-sections and doesn't roll and cause discomfort.

    I'm terrible about clothing personally.
  • I have a few favourite items, none of which fit me anymore (I have kept them in the hopes that one day I will fit back into them)

First is an upcycled jacket I got from H&M in 2012 that is still going strong. It is a denim jacket with knitted arms. The front part from the shoulder seam to maybe 3" down is a black suede material and it has little spikes across the seam between the suede & the rest of the denim.

The second is a mesh singlet with a purple space background with a gorilla on the front that's roaring that I bought from an op shop in an outback mining town for $1. It's hard to explain but it's absolutely outrageous and belongs in a rave, but I wear it to the gym 🤣
  • @jhysmath I feel you on the c-section undies. I got this one brand/style post partem & I have worn them ever since, even though they are what I would classify as super high waisted granny knickers (they come above my bellybutton 🤣🤣). So far they've been good with this pregnancy but I just got a size up yesterday. I am not a fan of anything under bump because it aggravates my scar way too much.
  • I have a whole collection of long, swishy mermaid skirts that I usually only wear at Burning Man or other events. I've taken to wearing the most comfortable of them as pajamas, partly because it's super soft and partly because I miss having opportunities to wear them! It's this heavy gray jersey fabric with metallic thread so it's a little shimmery, and I love that I can be comfortable and feel a little dressed up all at the same time.
    First time mom-to-be, due 9/25/22

Some complicated chromosomal stuff going on - our fingers are crossed, but this may not go according to plan!

  • @wiseh yes wicked granny panty esque mine aren't above the belly bottom, but they are definitely full coverage. I can't have anything rub my incision even almost 4 and 2 years later.
  • My favorite item is probably my old college hoodie. It is well over a decade old now, the sleeve hems are fraying, it has a couple of holes, and the writing is starting to peel, but I love it. It’s so darn comfy. I look in the school store every once in a while, but I’ve never found another one to replace it.
  • same as @whitta1015 and @laj0217 … comfy sweatshirts are the best.

Also, just because I own 5 of the exact same item… the American Giant No BS pant. I wear them almost everyday. They have an elastic waist band so I’m hoping I’ll make it a couple more months in them before officially switching to maternity pants. Sad to see they’ve gone up in price significantly since the last time I bought them. Sigh… that’s inflation I guess.
  • @wiseh
I demand to see a photo of this singlet!

  • @momsicle2be I just googled those pants bc I’m always looking for staple black pants for work. Unfortunately, I’m pretty sure my boss would say they’re too firm fitting and to go home and change 😩 they look awesome though
  • Hands down my lululemon leggings. I would wear them everyday if I could!
