How are you feeling?: my lower back is killing me and I can’t stop burping

Rants/Raves: Technically I didn’t take the day off but my work meetings all got canceled today! Guess nobody else wanted to work either.

Our weather is going from a high in the 80s today to a high in the 40s by Wednesday. So annoying.

Questions: 

GTKY- What do you think is your spirit animal? Hmm good question. These days? A sloth. or maybe a koala. They just sleep and eat right?

Baby is the size of a(n): I don’t know. The apps all say really different things.

Team: blue (but also still not confident they were right).

Upcoming Appointments: AS on 3/15.

How are you feeling?: mostly good.

Rants/Raves: except for the initial flutters, I haven’t felt baby which is weird. I know I’ve got anterior placenta, I’m just used to hyperactive kids so maybe this is the chill one? Also, as mentioned above, I’m still not confident about my gender ultrasound I had at 14 weeks. They said boy but I have ultrasound photos that look just like a girl, and just like a boy so obviously I’m confused. I’ve been reading so much about it and I’m just thinking there’s a good chance they got it wrong.

GTKY- What do you think is your spirit animal? That’s a hard one. I have no idea 😆 I have always thought giraffes were really need creatures so maybe I’ll go with that since I like them.

Team: Finding out TOMORROW 

Upcoming Appointments: Tomorrow at 8:45am

How are you feeling?: Good...like I'm getting larger every minute.

Rants/Raves: I'm so excited to find out the sex tomorrow. But it also bugs me how many people are telling me they are team boy or hoping for a boy this time as if my two girls aren't PERFECT. I would love another girl! Honestly, either is fine with me but I don't like random people having such strong opinions about my family. It especially bugs me when my MIL says it because I don't want her (or anyone) to act disappointed. 

Questions:

GTKY- What do you think is your spirit animal? Some kind of big cat, Cheetah or Leopard. Cheetah because they have a finite amount of energy but that energy is impressive when utilized. I can be a whirlwind of activity and then need a long rest. Leopard because they are strong, independant, fierce when necessary, but careful. Or maybe just a house cat.

Upcoming Appointments: Just had a check up today. BP was high, but it's been normal every morning for at least the last two weeks when I've taken it at home. So now I'll be taking the baby aspirin and they want to do the extra monitoring in the third trimester. This doctor was definitely more confident in her recommendations than the one I had last time. I still don't like that I have this unexplained high BP though, and it upset me during my appointment.

How are you feeling?: Just upset about the BP thing. Also slightly sore from helping my husband clear out the basement for the reno on Saturday and then I decided to do a deeper clean than I originally intended to our upstairs on Sunday.

Rants/Raves: I think I've ranted enough. 

Questions: I do want to thank all of you who are experienced for answering all of the questions on here and giving great advice!

GTKY- What do you think is your spirit animal? Maybe a dolphin since I love swimming. We used these motorized water scooters while snorkeling on our belated honeymoon last year, and it was so much fun!

How are you feeling?: I’m feeling good, but having lower back pain if I overdue it.

Rants/Raves: I haven’t felt any kicks so I am a bit nervous.  Looking forward to tomorrow so I can hear the heartbeat.

GTKY- What do you think is your spirit animal?  A duck because I can fly and take a dip when I want, but still get to eat bread.

How are you feeling?: I feel tired but I’m sure it’s because we’ve had a busy couple days. My hip hurts a little bit I think it’s from bowling 😅 oh, and I’m super constipated and cranky. Those two are probably related.

Rants/Raves: Ugh I lost a damn filling today chewing gum 😑 and so I called my dentist right away and they can’t get me in until THE END OF MARCH!?!? Pretty sure I’m going to have to look for somewhere else to go. I don’t want to, and don’t think I should, wait that long!

@and_peggy giraffes were my favorite growing up and I anticipate this baby getting so much giraffe stuff!

@fromfurmomtobabymom8-2 I’m sorry you’re dealing with the unexplained higher bp, but I think it’s a common occurrence  in pregnancy.  At least your doctor is on top of it and confident in her decisions. 

@itsme215 yay for all your meetings being canceled!! Our weather was similar last week. 55 one day and 10 the next. This end of winter time is my least favorite season.

@fromfurmomtobabymom8-2 I think there are quite a few of us in here that have bp issues during pregnancy. Don’t beat yourself up. Prior to kids, and not during pregnancy, my BP is completely normal. It’s not your fault. And it’s a good thing that your dr is proactive in lessening the risk for pre-e. The pre-e headaches are one of the worst things I’ve ever experienced.

@and_peggy @paytonpedro giraffes are my favorite animal and people have already been buying this baby giraffe stuff. I’m going to have to put a stop to it because literally the entire nursery is going to look like a giraffe sanctuary if I don’t.

@itsme215 @paytonpedro I’ll snap a photo tomorrow but we got so much giraffe stuff with my first. I gave a bunch away but kept my favorite onesie that has a giraffe and says, “you be giraffe I’m cute”

I was never bothered by people saying the same things they’re telling you until I saw an Instagram post about it saying exactly what you said. My 2 girls are perfect! And if our last baby (this baby) is a girl she will not be lesser because she isn’t a boy. It’s so inconsiderate for people to input their opinions where they aren’t welcomed.

@fromfurmomtobabymom8-2 could the BP be related to all the work this weekend perhaps? Especially since it’s never been high and you’ve been monitoring it daily.

How are you feeling?: Okay. Most of the nausea and icky first tri stuff is gone. Second tri constipation, nasal congestion, and hip pain suck, but I'll take them over the nausea. 

Rants/Raves: Grading history essays this week and I caught another plagiarizer. (Despite all my efforts to head this off, there's one every semester.) I hate catching plagiarism. It's demoralizing and a bunch of extra work, especially when the student won't admit to it even when you point out sentences that were copy and pasted. 🤬🤬🤬

@starkette @dimeadozen That's how I feel about my boys. People keep asking me if I want a girl this time, and I always give the same answer I gave the first two pregnancies: I want whatever it is. And I also don't like how people usually assume I wouldn't want three boys at my house. Like of COURSE I want three of MY boys!

@itsme215 My first thought when I read your post yesterday was, "Eggo waffle, how does that work? Do you cut it in half and stack the two halves on top of each other to get baby? Then later I told my son baby was the size of a waffle and he got so confused and was like, "How was the baby as big as a cutie [mandarin orange] last week and now he's as big as a waffle?" clearly thinking about diameter.

@and_peggy that might explain my headaches. That's really been my only symptom this whole time. They are the worst! I think I also have a bit of "white coat syndrome" and get super stressed going to doctors no matter what. Knock on wood, I've never had anything seriously wrong, so there's no trauma there, but for some reason it doesn't matter what I'm going in for, I just get super worked up about it. My skin was super blotchy and I was picking at my nails the whole way there, and it was just a checkup and a chance to listen to the baby's heartbeat.
@dimeadozen it could be? But after reading @and_peggy 's comment, I don't think this is a one time thing. I have had a headache about every 10ish days recently.
@paytonpedro I'm pretty sure I lost part or all of a filling pretty early on and just didn't bother to call because my dentist is so hard to get into anymore. I once had to reschedule and the earliest they could take me was 6 months out. Thankfully I've got an appointment the first week of March, so I can get it taken care of there. Hopefully yours isn't causing discomfort.

@fromfurmomtobabymom8-2 wow! Yeah we’re going out of town in a week and I was hoping to get it taken care of prior but I don’t see that happening. It doesn’t hurt at all but it seemed to have been a pretty significant filling and now I can’t chew on that side because of food getting stuck. I take such good care of my teeth so it’s really just super frustrating to me when these filling fall out. This is the third time. And the fact that I’ve even had cavities. Mouthes gross me out and I hate all of this. 😫

How are you feeling?: Scared I am going to do something to hurt the baby by mistake.  I am exhausted and have no drive at work which is very annoying. 

Rants/Raves:  I have had a very easy pregnancy, but I don't like being pregnant that much and I feel bad about feeling that way.  Also I am a FTM so kind of showing but if I wear normal clothes I think I just look fat not really pregnant which is not fun.

@katiecattherese I sympathize with your feeling of feeling bad about disliking pregnancy despite having an easy pregnancy. Pregnancy totally commandeers your body, and not everybody likes the way that feels. It has no bearing on how you will be as a parent and how you will feel towards your baby, and it's okay if you're not one of the people who enjoys being pregnant (or even understand how they could have that opinion. It continues to baffle me). You're doing great!

@katiecattherese it’s okay to feel whatever way you’re feeling. People often assume that I enjoy pregnancy because I have done it so many times. The reality is that I strongly dislike it, I just know the end result is so worth it.

I’ve been traveling so haven’t looked at this board in almost two weeks and I’m feeling a little overwhelmed by everything I missed! So jumping back in here. 

@katiecattherese totally sympathize on not liking being pregnant. And I’m also FTM and while I’m definitely showing, I feel like I mostly just look like I’ve gained weight too. FWIW, I feel like most of my friends hated being pregnant and it’s only afterwards that some of them (not all of them) have said they loved/miss being pregnant 🤷🏻‍♀️

Upcoming Appointments: Just had one yesterday and next one is March 23

How are you feeling?: Almost normal - I have been traveling and got some motion sickness on the plane, and I have some round ligament pain, but other than that I feel like a normal person for the most part! I will say that though that I started noticing my bump getting in my way when I was cramped up on the plane and tried to reach down to get something. 

Rants/Raves: I had a moment earlier this week where I got super freaked out that my life has already changed forever (this is my first). It was kind of a realization that it’s not changing when the baby comes (though I know it will change more), but parts of my “old life” are already gone during pregnancy (I think it was partly not getting to eat and drink whatever I want on vacation, partly watching my brother and sister in law with my new niece). I know there will be many wonderful changes, but it’s still a big transition. 

Questions: Any tips for motion sickness when flying? I have two more trips planned and would love to avoid that feeling.

GTKY- What do you think is your spirit animal? I had no idea what to say so I found a list of spirit animals and their traits (🤷🏻‍♀️). I wish I could say butterfly right now - it says it’s a symbol of transformation and development and goes through changes with ease and grace, but I’m definitely lacking on the ease and grace part.

Rants/Raves: I know this is normal but didn’t expect to out grow clothes so quickly and gain so weight so quick. My cravings are out of control even though I’m so nauseous all the time

How are you feeling?: Have been feeling little flutters but can't quite tell if it's baby or not. Ready to feel some full on movement!

Rants/Raves: So very excited for our gender reveal this weekend! DD (3 y/o) exclusively wants a baby sister so we've been trying to gently prepare her for the possibility of a boy. Praying for no meltdown. MH and I really don't have a preference either way, so I've found myself secretly hoping it's a girl so she can have what she wants.

Questions: None at the moment
