@wigglyicecream omg I love you so much more over here picking Eminem! My #1 go to song while I’m drinking is Lose Yourself and I LOVED that that’s what he performed at the super bowl!! 😍 To answer your question, my second pregnancy didn’t fly by at all 🤣 I would maybe only say that after it’s totally over and baby is like 2 months old 😬

How are you feeling?: pretty good all around. Still needing that daily nap though.

Rants/Raves: I spent the morning getting my hair done and I just feel so refreshed. It’s crazy how something so small can make you feel so good!

Upcoming Appointments: Monthly check up next Monday, got the 20w anatomy scan scheduled for next month!

How are you feeling?: Pretty good. The Buff Chick Mac and Cheese did not agree with my stomach last night, but doing better now.

Rants/Raves: I don't like being told when I can't/shouldn't lift stuff. I know what's too much for me and I can still help. I was helping to move family over the weekend, and while yes there were boxes I needed to stay away from, I was handed a tiny Amazon box instead to fill with random lightweight kitchen thing, like tea. Eventually I ended up just on dog sitting duty, which was fine.

Also the boppy cuddle pillow is much better!

Questions: None today, but I always seem to have one by Tuesday after I've posted. Thank you to those who chimed in on the registry questions!

GTKY- What would you sing at Karaoke night? I love this question. We had a Karaoke night on Thursdays in college, and we were tight with the DJ, so he pretty much let us run the show and also drove us back to the dorms at the end of the night. Usually start with Whitney Huston's I Wanna Dance With Somebody to get the party started. @and_peggy - yes! I have also done some Spice Girls, and quickly learned that Wanna has some weird lyrics. I'm sure I will have other stories based on other responses.

How are you feeling?: the past few days my exhaustion has come back pretty strong. today I also have a headache but more of a “tired headache” than the ones I was having a few weeks ago. my boobs seem to be less painful so that’s nice. 

Rants/Raves: I’m annoyed that once I finally want to buy stuff for the baby, I need to wait because we have to move all our stuff around to redo our floors so it’s silly to bring MORE stuff in before we do that.

You will never catch me doing karaoke. But if it was a life or death situation, probably something from the 90s that everyone else would be singing along to as well.

How are you feeling?: Mostly better. I stopped the ginger pills, and I only get nauseous if I start to over-exert, and I can sit down and feel better

Rants/Raves: 2nd tri!!!! Also, I can feel baby move now, but it's small, weirdish movements that aren't as fun as the big ones that come later

GTKY- What would you sing at Karaoke night? I don't sing. But maybe with three friends to back me up I could do the Lil Kim part of Lady Marmalade

How are you feeling?: Much better, but now having some fun hip pains.

Rants/Raves: I’m starting to panic about being really pregnant in the summer heat.  I need to prep for some summer maternity outfit options.

How are you feeling?: Very hormonal and weepy. Otherwise, I'm actually feeling okay which is a nice change of pace. 

Rants/Raves: Rant: I was super annoyed with DH this morning and it ended with me in tears sobbing. I actually had a valid reason for being annoyed, but I hate that I can't hold a serious conversation at this point without me crying and seeming overly weepy.  Rave: Find out baby's gender at 5pm! I'm so excited!!

GTKY- What would you sing at Karaoke night? I'd probably be the lame person who wouldn't sing. I say this because I usually need liquid courage to sing in public, and that's off the table right now. But if you did get a few drinks in me... I'd sing pretty much anything from the 90s/early 2000s. I don't really listen to music very often now.

Question for you: did you get any color done, or just a cut? I have a hair appointment in a few weeks and wonder if I'm okay to get color. I can never remember the rules. I'll ask my OB too, but I'm curious about your understanding.

How are you feeling?: Pretty decent. I'm a generally tired person, but I'm alllllllways tireddddd

Rants/Raves: I'm impatiently waiting for the anatomy scan.  I appreciated that my old provider would look for gender before the AS, but this provider (while fantastic and love him) doesn't so boo! Waiting to start my little wishlist after we find out gender.

@wigglyicecream oof. I don't know how any of our pregnancies will fly by at this point since our first trimesters have been 5 months already. Anyone else? 
And yes, Encanto on repeat with the rest of the world. Disney knew what they were doing with this one.

@paytonpedro baby child sound way cuter, haha we'll go with that. I feel you on the daily nap, especially chasing other littles around like you are. So glad you had a self love moment and enjoyed some "me" time!

@fromfurmomtobabymom8-2  I hate the unsolicited restrictions too! We're all very comfortable in our bodies and know our limits. We're pregnant not incapable. I've been waiting to go back to the registry comment and respond!

@itsme215 if you're buying little stuff like clothes just keep it stowed away in the car haha. might be an eyesore for quite sometime but, bring on the baby!

@fuzzywombat oof, sorry about your bout of food poisoning but congrats on the good NIPT results!! 

@lmaplejc Depending on where you live, I can't say being pregnant is the summer is that fun. haha. First two pregnancies babies were born in July and August. I live in Louisiana, the Deep South AKA. The Devil's Playground and it was raaaaaather miserable. I don't handle heat well, so definitely dress appropriately!

@and_peggy I LOVE when children start saying what they thing they hear. Might cause an issue for school hahahaha.

@darkrose88 Pregnancy hormones do suck, so sorry. I know what you mean and it's so hard to be taken seriously when you're crying halfway through a conversation.

@malloryfrommn I got color done when I was 8ish weeks. I walked in to the salon and my hairdresser asked me what I wanted, and I said well, I'm pregnant, so am I allowed to get my usual (which is highlights). She said absolutely! Highlights don't touch the scalp, so that's fine. I trusted her and she has two kids. I forget what she said about full color though, but really I don't think she had concerns, but check depending on what you normally get done.

No ultrasound today but the doctor said baby sounded great. HB was about 160, he said. Scheduled my anatomy scan!! March 15th! Very ready and excited to find out gender

How are you feeling?: Remembering how much I hate the 2nd tri. I couldn't wait to get there in my first pregnancy and then somehow felt worse than first tri? Seems to be the same way so far this go around

Rants/Raves: Trying to walk the line of soaking everything in because this will be my last pregnancy AND being honest with myself that I do not really enjoy being pregnant. Add hormones into that and it just makes me a mess

@tmartin014 I relate to your feelings 100% This is my third and last pregnancy, and apparently I'm supposed to cry tears of nostalgia that this is the LAST TIME I'm doing all these things but instead I'm over here like, "I will never have to do the first trimester again!" I'll also be so happy to put second tri constipation, nasal congestion, and hip pain in the rearview mirror. I do not enjoy being pregnant.

@malloryfrommn the packet from my doctor's office indicate there are no concerns with using hair dye. I only go about once every 5-6 months, and I do get hair dye put on my scalp & ends (I get an ombre look). I did it with DS and I'll do it with DD. Honestly, the biggest issue with dye has always been the smell... but the mask helps block out the smell... I may never stop masking when I go to the hairdresser for that reason alone lol.

@malloryfrommn there are pregnancy safe color products you can use. I just let my air dresser know prior so she has what she needs. I got only highlights so I’m not sure if it’s a little different. I think generally you want ammonia-free, or bleach-free, semi-permanent hair color. 

@tmartin014 this will also be my last pregnancy and I went into it knowing that and knowing that we only want 3 children. I still think I’ll miss this season of life. It’s kind of crazy how quickly it’s gone by. After this baby is here, it will be just raising them. It’s weird. I’m glad the first tri is over but I’m definitely going to soak in every baby kick and try to really enjoy the rest of this pregnancy. My tune will surely change when I can barely walk come July.

How are you feeling?: Fine, my clothes are starting to get tight, I just feel funny and I don't feel like people talk about the 2nd trimester much.  I also have been more moody which is annoying, particularly since I don't notice it unless I am thinking about it. 

Rants/Raves: I just with I knew more, but then everyone is different so there is that.  I am also worried about labor and postpartum as my trust in how women's health is treated in the US is relatively small. 

Questions: Any tips for the 2nd trimester?

@katiecattherese love your karaoke choice! 

My experience is that L&D is completely different than other health care and hospital visits I’ve had. For me, everything has been very much about consent before they do anything. I hope you are pleasantly surprised. If you are feeling very anxious, you should discuss it with your doctor and see what you can do to prepare in the mean time. They’re generally very good about making you feel as comfortable as possible. 

ETA, maybe looking into a doula would be helpful for you.

@dimeadozen I live in NJ and we get hot and humid summers (but nothing like Louisiana!). My first was born in Feb so I haven’t had a summer baby.  I don’t do shorts so I’ll probably live in dresses. 🥵

Thanks so much for the input! Super helpful. Good call on giving my hairdresser a heads up so she can get any pregnancy safe products. I also agree 100% that wearing a mask will help with the strong chemical odors. 

Last time around I was ultra conservative and didn't do any color. That combined with a solid 4 months of postpartum early-pandemic quarantine -- my hair was a HOT MESS.
