My ob-gyn office has like 6 different doctors. The one I've seen the last 3 visits I really dislike. She brushes off my concerns and the visit is super short. I've noticed in my after visit summary on Mychart, she has noted things in there that weren't even discussed. (Pt did not receive covid booster was noted even though I did, she just literally didn't even ask me.) Anyway, I'm scheduled with other doctors for my future visits and I'm not planning on scheduling any more with her.
HOWEVER, I used to work at an ob-gyn office that's a 30 minute drive for me. I'm going to this one because A- I delivered my oldest at this hospital, even though my old doctor is no longer there and B- it's super close. The office is a 10 minute drive and the hospital is 15-20 minutes. So now I'm considering transferring to the old office I used to work at because I know all the doctors and midwives there and love them. The only downfall is the distance, really. And it's technically in another state but I don't think that really makes too much of a difference except it will say KY instead of OH on the birth certificate.
Sorry for the long rant. So my question is- should I stay with my current office which is close with the hope that I will like the other 5 doctors there? (I think I have already met one or two several years ago with my son, just don't necessarily remember.) Or transfer to the office I used to work at where I know I'll get good care and love the providers, but have to drive a but further? I don't know! 😭
@stardustskies my OB office is the same in that there's 10 doctors or so. I may see others depending on appointment availability or have a different doctor actually be there for the delivery. Ultimately it's up to you of course. If you like the practice you're at now, I'd give some of the others doctors a chance and just have it be a point that you don't want to be scheduled with the one doctor.
I kind of feel the same way with my current OB but I'm not super displeased with her. We'll see how my next appointment goes when I need to ask her about tips for traveling on a bus for 6-7 hours in about 2 weeks.

@stardustskies go to the other office. 30 minutes isn’t that far for good care that makes you feel secure. I hated the one doc at my first midwife practice and of course she was the one who delivered. It was terrible. She wanted to cut me and I didn’t even tear.
You don’t want to be second guessing your doctor when you’re in labor.

@stardustskies I would go with the Dr you trust 100%. I feel like your relationship with your Dr directly impacts how you view the success of your labor/delivery. If my Dr right now moved 30 minutes away, I would drive the distance for sure.

@stardustskies, I agree with the others, go with someone you like/trust.
I'm currently at a HUGE OB office, I'd have to check but I wouldn't be surprised if it's the largest in the state. It's quite the change from my OB last time around, which was a small 3 MD private practice. I was treated by 2 of the 3 Drs at my old office and had pretty decent odds of one of them being on call for my delivery, so that was nice. The only reason I switched is because they closed their practice and went their separate ways. Don't get me wrong, I like my OB now and I only see her for my appts (other than tests and what not), but I'm very curious what the deal is for actual delivery. I have to remember to ask. I assume my chances of having her for the delivery are pretty low.
Thanks, everyone! I decided to transfer and put in the records request today. All the girls at my old office were super happy to see me so I'm confident this is the right choice. 😊
@zwink1 At large practices like that, probably a little further in your pregnancy they'll start suggesting you meet the other doctors/ schedule appointments with them to get a feel for them. And depending on if you end up going the induction route, they may let you choose the doctor.
@stardustskies I would personally switch. I would NOT want to end up with that OB at my delivery! I actually had the c-section happy OB at my last practice deliver my baby and it was such a horrible experience. i'm in a new state now and started at one obgyn office for pre-pregnancy stuff - had been highly recomended and close to my house - and then i found out the really good OB's were retiring or retiring from OB stuff and there were mixed reviews on the new OBs and constant bad reviews on one of them and it was NOT worth the risk to me. I now drive 25-30 min to my current offie because theyw ere also highly recommended - especially by all the L&D nurses at the hospital, even though one doctor takes his sweet time and so you have to plan like 2 hours for an appointment, which is annoying. BUT there are only 2 OBs and both are good and it's worth it to me
I'm going through my baby clothes and I am missing an entire size..... I think maybe the kids grew so fast in that transition (6/9 to 9/12 to 12) that I gave up and went straight to 12s but I cant remember and now it's bugging me.

@tuxielove93 my coworker just mentioned something like that today with her first. Her daughter is super tall and practically skipped the 3-6 month clothes. She was in those for maybe 2 weeks max. Sounds like your thinking is plausible!

@inthewoods23 yep my kids are giants and are super long. I’m very brand loyal because most brands go wide instead of long in baby clothes. But I need roomy AND long. They never wear newborn either since they come out at 8 pounds. I bet I did just skip the size entirely.

Sorry for being MIA. Just wanted to say a quick hi! We made
it back from our vacation! It was wonderful. But very exhausting with a toddler
lol. I loved seeing the joy in his eyes at everything we did though.
Here is the infamous FB post I wanted to make that caused my
grandma to move out of my parents house lol.
Oh, and I’ll add my story of OB offices. I go to a clinic
that has about 5 OBs, but deliver at a hospital that has about 30+ different OBs
rotating from around the twin cities. I had a little argument with my first OB
and thought about switching clinics complete but figured the odds of her
actually being scheduled when I was in labor were slim. Lucky me, she was
actually scheduled while I was there. The nurses must have read something in my
chart (or the doctor said something to them about me) because they came in and
asked if I would be more comfortable with them calling an on-call doctor instead.
I told them no and to just send her in. She never came. The whole 8 hour shift
she was working she never once checked on me. If she would have, she would have
noticed that my water had indeed NOT broken, and maybe my labor would have went
a little faster. Still pissed about that.
