@laj0217 If it's on the east coast, it's Southeast lol. But I would agree there are cultural differences between FL, SC/GA, and NC/VA. MD is a toss up - could go NE or SE. I thought about creating a "Mid-Atlantic" category...
And I will update my spreadsheet to reflect you in GA.
Current pregnancy - First BFP on 1/4/22. Due date 9/13/22.
Four prior losses, no living children - 1 first trimester miscarriage, 1 blighted ovum, 1 chemical, and one extreme premature live birth daughter who died at 15 days old.
@laj0217 I grew up in North Carolina, have relatives in SC, and did my master's in GA. Believe me, I understand the differences.

Lol ok if I run it again, I will make a separate category for mid-Atlantic, although I'm not sure what else would qualify other than MD and DE. Maybe PA would go in there too...

But regardless of the categories, I enjoyed reading this so thanks for putting it together, next time I have some data that needs organizing I’m sending it to you lol. I don’t want even want to know how long that took 😆
Lol I have a running spreadsheet (this is what I do instead of things like laundry or cooking), so compiling the categories was just a matter of sorting the data I already have.

@jhysmath the census bureau considers NY as mid-Atlantic 🤷🏼♀️ I lived in NYC for 10 years, but I can see how those outside of NYC might feel more Northeast than mid-Atlantic!
I grew up in NJ and moved back recently. I always thought I lived in the northeast until I got older and realized it's technically the mid-Atlantic. The term "mid-Atlantic" just doesn't get used very much in normal settings.

@jhysmath as I did my undergrad in Buffalo, honestly I never felt that either really fit - not coastal enough for either! In a lot of ways Buffalo is "midwest."

@jhysmath I feel like the only state that really commits to calling themselves mid Atlantic is MD. But yeah the census puts other states in there to make it a legit category. It just feels like they didn't know what to do with Maryland and Delaware so they created a different category and added PA, NJ, and NY to round it out.

@kboydbowman this is so cool to see, thank you for taking the time! I sometimes volunteer to do the data cleaning for my lab mate’s projects because excel relaxes me. Fellow data nerds unite! 🤓
@kboydbowman how I decide they're midwest is the use of pop instead of soda. Also the slightly weird accent. Thankfully my husband absorbed the "normal accent" of nh and doesn't have the whine I hear from his relatives, but he still says some weird words like pop, crick instead of creek, and woof instead of wolf. There are others I've fixed over the years, that I'm not sure are regional or if he just didn't know like valetimes and mute points.
"mute" points makes me CRINGE SO HARD. Also, it's not pop or soda, it's a soft drink.

Looks like my not puking streak with this one is going to be over. 3 year old was up all night puking. 1 year old just puked all over me. I have a feeling this stomach bug is going to get all of us.
@jhysmath serious prayers for you and your family. Caring for one sick child is so much by itself let alone two and being pregnant. I hope you don’t get it too!
Currently playing am I nauseous because I'm pregnant and should eat something for it to go away, or did I get the bug and shouldn't eat something because puking solids is a terrible idea.
I only had one pair of clean scrubs for work today and the pants are WAY too tight on my belly. Things are definitely different the second time around!!
I don't know why I bothered to come in to work today after my appointment....I am SOOOOOOOOOO not focused.

DH bought me a bog bag and a pair of Ugg moccasins/slippers for Valentine's Day. I was so pumped about my Uggs (first pair I've ever owned) but apparently they run small because I can't fit my foot into them and it's the only size they had. So now I have to wait until they get a new shipment, but I am excited that I'll have them for the hospital!
@whitta1015 So nice! I wore fuzzy socks during delivery and brought my own pillow, but I didn’t think about a blanket. I’ll have to remember that this time!

Hehe DH and I went super overboard last time with what we brought to the hospital but I was happy we did. We brought 2 pillows for each of us and a blanket for each of us haha. We also brought a full cooler of food and beverages LOL.
To add to this conversation, I'm already planning what to pack in my hospital bag (it helps keep my anxiety about something going wrong at bay). There were things I brought before that I'll for sure bring again (my own pillow, throw blanket, extra long charging cables, slippers, eye mask), and things I'll definitely bring next time (lots of snacks, extra blanket for my husband, small empty duffel). Is this weird? I feel like it's weird to think so far ahead. It's weird, isn't it? 😄
ETA: I checked into the hospital at 10:27 P.M. and my daughter was here by 3:28 A.M., so I don't plan to bring anything to pass the time before labor. That was a major waste of space last time.
@trapperkeeper87 Definitely not weird! I had a spreadsheet last time and I've already re-vamped it for this time. I want to bring my own towel and washcloth this time, and maybe a stroller fan to hook to the side of my bed while I'm laboring to help with nausea.

have you ever googled the differences? It’s crazy how much the definitions vary, especially when you ask people in different states. Such a fun topic.

@theblondebump as a nh person who also lives in western NY I don't consider ny as Atlantic at all lol. North East I'd give it, but not Atlantic.
